Stock Showcases / JoeBlo Stock- The Second Coming
« on: February 20, 2021, 01:14:50 AM »
9 Years • 4 Months • 23 Days since my last showcased stock robot..

The second coming of Jesus.... im bad at Robot Arena 2

Slice - MW 398.4

Dead Metal S2 kinda vibe with the servo saw and some crude metal skins, not great but a bundle of fun to torment the stock AI with.

Tournament Archives / Clash Cubes Video Library
« on: August 10, 2016, 08:02:09 AM »
Since the old youtube channel that hosted all my tournaments went down many years ago I decided to start a thread uploading old content as I pull it from my archives.

So first up the final from the largest tournament I ever held (and possibly the second largest is GTM history?) at 60 Entrants, CCIV

DSL 2.1 Lightweight in the Clash Cubes Arena.

More to come :)

Real Robotics Discussion / EB Games Expo - Australia
« on: May 08, 2014, 11:11:03 AM »
I was quite surprised today to hear Robot Wars Live for the first time in Australia at the annual EB Games Expo in Sydney

http://www.ebexpo.com.au/robot-wars/

Quite cool to see them reach Australia,

Sadly Sydney is on the exact opposite side of Australia for me (and its not exactly cheap to travel), whats even sadder is I will be travelling to Sydney and staying in a hotel right near where the expo is held... less then 2 weeks later! :(

But still nice to see Australia get a bit of love, who knows where it'll lead

General Support / Running on OSx
« on: April 17, 2014, 09:35:18 AM »
Does anyone successfully run RA2 on their Mac?

I mean using a virtual process, im currently trying to engineer RA2 to run on OSx but im hitting a lot of brick walls so in the meantime I want to just be able to run the game virtually so I can continue with my other mods, etc.

I installed XP on Virtual Box but it refuses to run RA2

So who else has done it and what program did you use? just to save me going through the OS install process a bunch of times with different programs :)

Tournament Archives / Clash Cubes "Spin-Off"
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:01:39 AM »
Havent heard much from me huh? But I have been brewing this one in the pipeline for some time

This year marks a 5th year milestone for both myself and one of the most popular tournaments to hit GTM, Clash Cubes. So after 2 years of absence... the cubes are coming back!!

---------------------------------------------
Clash Cubes 1 summed up in one word? SnSnSnS... Somebody unleashed this beast and it didnt disappoint, ripping apart every single opponent in its path and becoming a well known icon in the process, so to celebrate Clash Cubes 1 from back in 2009, this Tournament will be HW SnS.

Weight:
Its going to be DSL 2.1 Heavyweight, Bots can weigh no more then 800.0kg.

Construction:
Realism Rules: No part can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armour plate or chassis=OK. Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not OK. There is a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just nicks a motor or something, that's OK. Basically this rule is just intended to stop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners like you see in stock RA2.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy

All Robots MUST be an SnS robot type (Hybrids are permitted, such as HS)

And all Robots Chassis must be a cube shape of any size, this means a square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the higher your bot)

I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know how to AI please do, no Meltybrain stuff however, this tournament is purely FBS_1 or others that use the same base coding.

Smartzones  may be used including custom ones(so long as you send along the files)  however they may only be used for the purposes of AIing no other use will be excepted.

No BFE or AAM everything must be done inside the bot lab
with exception to chassis skinning.

My Skirt hinge collision fix will be utilised in this tournament rendering "Narmour" useless.

Multibot/Clusterbot:
Multibots or Clusterbots not allowed due to the rumble format

Format:
The arena will be The Combat Zone (Same as CC1 however with a new skin) Ill do some testing and I may add some bounce to the walls too

The format will be a 9 Robot Bracket made up of 3 Rumbles and then a Final

All matches will be 3mins each.

All Entries are final given this is only a small mini tournament, so no updates or anything.. want these to move along pretty quick.

Havok's grant you a do-over the first time however more then once in the match and your robot will be removed from the rumble.

The Tour kicks off on my own 5th Anniversary of being here! 23rd of January

---------------------------------------------

Entrants:

1) COOLRUNNER87
2) Kurt Wylde
3) MassimoV
4) HurricaneAndrew
5) akshaylan
6) rnifnuf
7) TBD Devastator
8) Thyrus
9) senstro

Ive been poking through the RW wiki lately and noticed there is zero information on the Australian broadcast for the international league.

While Australia got Series 3, 4 and a bit of 5 before it was taken off the air as normal (Craig Charles, etc) you might be interested to know we got a completely different and unique broadcast for the international league

International League was the first ever robot wars to be shown in Australia, I believe that was the point of it, before S3 was shown

The Host we had for this show was Jay who still stood up in the stage where Craig did.. although the lack of crowd noise while he spoke suggested the arena was actually empty during his segments

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Laga'aia

Unfortunately I didnt know the commentator or pit reporter nor can remember.

The other interesting thing was that Terror Australis was never shown, only Terror Australis II (Nemesis) was and was never explained that it was a replacement.

The last thing I can remember was the House robots intro was the 1st World Championship one (without JP though) instead of the regular International League intro

I have a feeling I may have 1 or 2 matches on VHS somewhere.. Im going to see if I can dig them up and get them on the computer to show people RW in a way you have never seen before :)

Scary practice video from Rallycross

and Jacko's winning FMX trick.. bit debatable I think between this and second place..

Little bit of a gold mine I dug up on youtube..

Vinny's channel, some interesting insights and info in comments he has made about the place such as

"I'll let you in on a secret - we didn't rupture Matilda's fuel tank. The guys who run the house robots stuffed her full of oil-soaked rags before the fight. It was agreed we could cause Matilda as much damage as we liked, as they wanted to rebuild her. The next series she appeared with a very nasty flywheel instead of the rather pathetic chainsaw."

or

"
What you have described pretty much sums it us. We were pushed around a fair bit but damaged the frame and ripped the motor clean off the weapon. Spoke with Noel Sharkey afterwards about how we thought we'd caused significant damage. His reply was 'well it was evened up as they took your wheel off'. When we pointed out we had all our wheels intact he admitted they'd got it wrong. Too late to reverse the decision by then."

and also this gem of a video.. Warheads very first tests

Im posting this for you all to look and admire.. Please dont be an idiot and spam him through youtube..

I myself was hoping for more real life trophy trucks but looks like a neat game.

Comes out in a few days, only a PSN / XBL download so dont expect it to compete with Dirt or Motorstorm.

But seems like a really easy/ cheap way to play multiplayer offroad racing..

Airforce.py

"Spread your wings and fly.."

Now you can AI your own flyers the same way as they acted in the Epic Flyer challenge..

-AIing make Easy - Shortest Bindings you will ever need
-Easy to use Variables
-New Control Names!!! :O

---------------------------------------

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/Airforce.rar

Example Bindings : list.append(("Flyer","Airforce",{'nose':math.pi,'Spinup':10, 'range':99, 'weapons':(1,)}))

---------------------------------------

You will need the controls..

Spin (Analog control so the AI will shut it off after liftoff)
Launch (Button or Analog that is wired to fire the pistons)

How the Variable works?

'Spinup' in the Binding line deturmines the length of time the robot will Spin before using the Launch control (then shutting off Spin)

Re-Launch actions

Once the flyer looses its Trinity effect and lands on the ground it will sit stationary (keeps firing pistons though which potentially assist in self righting)

If its counted out it will then stop and revert back to the start of the match phase and spin / launch to break count..

Obviously if its butter side down it wont fly..

---------------------------------------

Enjoy
