So, do you guys like giant robots?
Wish that MWO had more speed(and wasn't made by greedy idiots)?
Then allow me to welcome you too:

This is an awesome F2P Mech FPS that I have been playing over the course of the year. It's still in beta, but is still pretty solid. Community is awesome to boot.
If you need more convicing, here are some of my videos:
The game is completely free to play, so why not you give it a try? Link is in the banner above.
I am Coboxite in game, so hopefully you guys will find me.

Tournament Archives / Rumblers
« on: October 17, 2013, 03:02:51 PM »
I have the means to record again, time for something different.
Basic rules:
  • Standard stock Heavyweight
  • All legal glitches allowed
  • Hax mode is legal
  • Bot must be fully controllable by a human player
  • All AI parts are legal, 140cm extender is legal
  • Bumble balls are banned
  • Cheap Noris type bots are banned
  • Nasty pickles are banned
  • Trinity bots are banned
  • Crawlers are legal
  • 16 entries with no wild card
  • No BFE, no custom parts, no changing anything about the bot outside of building lab(Skinning is ok)
  • I can AI, but I'd rather you do it.
  • Custom AI py is legal so long as it's not stupidly overpowered(eg; kill all bots instantly)
Special rules:
  • Arena is the Small arena with hazards turned off.
  • Matches will be four way battle royal with no time limit, last man standing wins.
  • If there aren't enough bots to fill a rumble, a byebot will take any empty spaces. If the byebots somehow wins, the next runner up will move on.
  • I will not enter, unless there is a dire need for entries
  • All skill levels welcome.

Off-Topic Discussion / Anybody know of a decent free video editor?
« on: August 08, 2013, 06:12:09 PM »
So, I want to start making videos again, as I'm planning a new tournament. Problem is, I have nothing to edit it with, as Windows got rid of Movie Maker when I upgraded it to 8, and every time I try to install it, it fails every time. Anyone got any suggestions?

Chatterbox / I am injured
« on: October 04, 2011, 09:39:43 PM »
Considering I'm posting this on my laptop at home and not at the hospital should tell you something.
As of today and for some weeks, I am going to be in crutches. During today waiting for the bus, my knee cap twisted out of place, pulled a ligament, and was stuck in pain on the ground for fifteen minutes or so.
I am currently on Vicatain, and suffice it to say, I will not be competing in any tournaments for a lenghthy number of weeks..

Robots Showcase / Team FarSide
« on: July 01, 2011, 10:43:30 PM »
Yup, In the span of an hour or two, I managed to build this little guy.

Under side:

Built with four tools, a Buck Knife, a screw driver, a clamp, and my hands.
At this time being, it's not done yet, I need electronics and a radio.
Current progress was cutting the the base plate, mounting the motor, drilling some holes(Had to use my Buck knife, yuck  :dead: ), mounting the skid, and mounting the wheels. Not very professional, but it should work, once I get some electronics to get it to work.
Not sure what to call it, I was thinking of Anti-OxidANT, but it's a place holder so far.
What do you guys think of my shady job?

Discussion / One wheeled bots, should they be banned?
« on: June 08, 2011, 09:04:55 PM »
As of late, I noticed that one wheeled bots have been getting the ax recently. My question is, why? One wheeled bots have been built for years, many melty brain spinners exist in US tournaments, I can name two right now if I wanted to. What makes them such a taboo?

Tournament Archives / Generic Stock SHW tournament
« on: March 16, 2011, 05:44:57 PM »
Um, yeah. Title. There have been so many gimmick tournaments that I'm getting sick of them. I was thinking just a normal, SHW tournament. General rules are:
Stock
All allowed glitches
1200 kilo weight limit
No realism
Standard 16 bot limit, Double elimination

Would anyone be interested?

Tournament Archives / No More Wedges Tournament Idea, Good idea?
« on: December 20, 2010, 11:28:17 PM »
I have to admit it, I hate wedges. The angle, the center of gravity, what its made from, how much weight you need, its all the tip of the ice berg really.
And no matter how well you built that wedge, its always going to be beaten by another wedge, and you might spring off the wall or the other guys inferior wedge.

So I would like to take that all out of the equation.

In this tournament, your goal is innovative designs and sportsman like conduct, not ripping your opponents to shreds.

General body of this is:

DSL heavy weight

16 entry, single elimination, best two out of three

Realistic rules, of course

No unrealistic glitches, no BFF, no burst boosting, no glitches period

Rules that only work to this tournament:

NO WEDGE SHAPES, NO PANELS THAT ARE FLUSH TO THE GROUND, NOTHING THAT CAN GET UNDER THE OTHER ROBOT. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Wedge shaped bodies,
  • External wedges,
  • Titanium half sheets(Why have them if there are no gut rippers?)
Excessively powerful weapons are not allowed(If you kill your opponent, you lose that match!)

No SnS

If you can build a pop up without a wedge, then by all means, be my guest

Flippers must be made using only non damaging components(must also fallow the no wedges rule as well)

If building a VS, it must only spin downwards

No flails

No flamethrowers

No suicide bots, if I can whack your bot and do over a quarter of its health worth of damage, it will be disqualified(Don't worry, it's going to somthing reasonable like a 70 kilo hammer)

It may sound boring, but its more like a gateway tournament, built to ease newer players into AI tournaments, while also challenging older players into restrictions they haven't had in a long time.
Remember, this is only a discussion, not a sign-up. I don't know if this will make it.
Oh, and FYI, yes I can AI the bots and Record the videos.
Feel free to discuss!

Off-Topic Discussion / Major audio recording problem
« on: August 09, 2010, 03:29:06 PM »
I'm having major sound breaking audio problems. The sound is so choppy that it raises a normal five minute video file size to 2GB. Also when I go to Windows movie maker, it only recognizes the sound, but no video.
I am using FRAPS and a Realtek HD audio driver. I can't record IRL until its fixed(If I can't get it fixed, I will try to record the video, but with no sound).
Any help would be nice

You know how most bots, even DSL bots, seem to go low on realism? This Tournament fixes that issue! You see, here is how it works:

DSL Middle Weight.
No Custom parts, other than smart zones(Only for AI reasons)
No BFE of any kind.
All pointed weapons MUST be treated as if they have normals.
Jugglers, pop ups, and crawlers are banned.
No snapper, metal, or skirt hinged wedges(But you can have axle wedges)
Real Motors only(Excludes Snappers)
Controlled movement please.

I will accept up to sixteen bots.
Yes I can AI, yes I have FRAPS, and yes, I have the time.

Are you tired of mundane tournaments, with the same been there, done that style? Then welcome to the Robotic Operation Test Of Supremacy, R.O.T.O.S. This is your chance to rise, your chance to shine, YOUR time to be great, by building to our challenges, crush your opponents, and prove your worth.  This challenge will not be easy, you will be competing with the finest builders (Hopefully), and newer builders, all ready to make scrap metal of your bot. You better be ready to battle to the death, because once your bot goes through those doors, there's no turning back.

Now, you must be asking, "but whats the catch?". Simple, you can only build one of eight bot types, and each will be restricted in some way. Also, the bots must be built in DSL, HW, realistic rule applies, and only DSL2.1 parts will be allowed.

Allowed bot types, and there restrictions are:
  • Pop-up: Must use small JX burst motors, wedges must be on BSG burst motors
  • Horizontal Spinner: No weapon motors above 100 kigs, no more than 100 kigs of weapon mass(Chaining is premited)
  • Vertical Spinner: Same as HS, no bursted wedges
  • Juggler: All weapons must be the same, only Mag motor weapon motors
  • Flipper: Only Mag motors OR Small JX motors
  • Rammer: No Hypno, TD, OK, DSL(Both types), Tornado, Vlad, the car wheels, WBC, or any grippy wheels of any kind.
  • Hammer: Only Beta burst motors
  • Poker: One piston must hold all weapons, and must only use regular NPC motors.
  • Full Body Spinner: None. In fact, you get another 200 kigs to work with.
NOTE: We despise hybrids of any kind, any attempt will be removed promptly. You may only have two weapon systems, if and only if its a cluster bot.

Prizes are TBA.
