Time to jump on the bandwagon with my own IronForge thing.

    A Vertical Spinner:

    Steel 10mm | 249.8KG (including 1 ballast)

Weaponry is a bit fragile when tested against the AI, maybe needs another weapon set with a sacrifice to some armour?
Turning is a bit unstable too, which is why the ballast is there – though it does not help that much.

General Support / DSL 2.1 Team HQ Crash
    « on: November 08, 2011, 02:10:51 PM »
    (On Windows 7)

DSL v2.1 crashes when i try to enter the team HQ (i.e selecting a team and trying to enter the next screen). I have reinstalled DSL many times, but it doesn't work. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

(used the right DSL version as I've tried both CD and downloaded version. Also tried using Sage's complete download.)

    « on: July 01, 2011, 03:50:24 PM »
Please read the following rules carefully.

    1.Building Restrictions:
    1(i)DSL v2.1 MW
    1(ii)Realism Rule is in effect
1(iii)BFE, AAM, or ANY outside game modifications are not allowed
1(iv)All ingame glitches allowed (apart from Narmour, castar armour) as long as the bot still abides by (ii)
1(v)No cheatbot parts, no custom parts
    1(vi)No mulitbots

    2.Tournament Structure:
    2(i)Double Emination
(i.a)Exception to this rules is the first round. The first bot to be eliminated is out of the tournament. See figure 1 (black denotes the bot that is eliminated first.)
    2(ii)Most matches have three bots
(ii.a)Exception to this rule is the Loser bracket final - two bots participate
2(iii)Matches are set at two minutes
2(iv)Matches held in a modified (such that starting points are thrids away from each other and new skin) ring arena by Serge
2(v)Matches are done anhiliator style - when one bot is defeated, the two remaining bots will fight. This means each match is made of two bouts.
(v.a)Exception is the loser bracket final - best of three match
2(vi)Initially, bots are placed in brackets randomly
2(vii)For how the loser bracket is done, please refer to figure 1
2(viii)For the finals, the loser bracket winner must win two matches (instead of one)
    2(ix)One havok restart per bout

    3.Special Rules:
3(i)After each bout in a match, components which get knocked off will be removed
(i.a)The components are reset after the match is over
3(ii)When the chassis health in a bout drops below 50% health, the armour will be reduced to half strength (if apllicable) or closest armour to half strength
3(iii)When the chassis health is in flashing red, armour will be reduced to plastic 1mm.

4.Due to chassis health and component health being an elevated factor, there are some more building restrictions:
4(i)Chassis base plate cannot be more than 16 square units in area
4(ii)Chassis height cannot be more than a Large Puma CO2 tank stood on it's end (ie the tank must not be able to be place on its end in the chassis)
4(iii)Only ONE component of hitpoints over 8000 can be used on any one bot.

Please post your reactions, and any ammendments to the rules I should make (particularly rules 3 and 4).
Will hope for max 18 entrants, but will place random byes instead if need be.

I think my old showcase got deleted :S
    anyway
    FML...

the collision meshes are all over the place. It's quite unstable and I think the random collision mesh is the reason...or it might just be the sheer mass of it all... anyway to fix this?

    This is an unusual tournament.

    Tournament Structure:

There are no brackets for the first two rounds:

    Round One

There will be 4 groups (where by all the entries will be randomly distributed evenly throughout, with four robots in each group).
In each group, these bots will be randomly given a number that relates to their order of the cycle.

First, the first and second bot in the cycle will fight in a match (single round).
Second, the next bot in the cycle replaces the loser, and another match ensues.
This continues in each group until a bot wins 3 times consecutively, whereby this bot qualifies for round two and is taken out of the cycle.
In this case, the loser is still replaced with the next bot in the cycle, but the winner is replaced too.

This continues until two of the bots have qualified, or after one less of the number of bots left in the cycle matches of no bot qualifying, the bot(s) with the highest wins in total will qualify. (If there are two or more bots with the same number and only one space remaining , a match between them will ensue and the winner gets the slot.)

    Round Two

Same as round one, but the robots are re-assigned a group randomly and evenly (with four bots in each group); only two entries of each group will go through to the final.

    Finals

Winner of two matches is the champion. Matches are 3 of 5.

    Restrictions:

    Stock
    LW
    No multibots
    No BFE, AAM.
    All glitches allowed.
All bots entered must have at least one red extender of any size in/on/attached/etc
Small havoks are ignored, large havoks (ones that fling your bot OOTA or make your bot trapped into the floor/walls etc.) will deem a restart. If another large havok happens, after this it is ignored, i.e. only one havok restart per match.

General Support / GMF Component Skinning
    « on: February 25, 2011, 05:18:00 AM »
Ok so i've created a component from scratch using tutorial on the wiki. However, how do you control the way the bmp (in the maps folder) colours in the component? My component has an irregular shape, kind of a distorted cylinder. The bmp applies itself to both ends of the cylinder, and then the other faces that connect these two ends are just coloured with a singular pixel (it seems) from the bmp.
    May post screenies etc later.

    Cheers,
    DF

DSL TC Showcases / DragonFire's DSL Dump
    « on: February 20, 2009, 04:11:20 PM »
After my exceedingly unsuccessful bots in DSL tournaments I've entered, i'd thought I'd start up a showcase to get some valuable advice. Don't expect many bots here as I'm busy with school, and also Robot Rampage.

    Open Cut
    version A:

    titanium 1mm chassis armor.

    version B:

Constructive criticism welcomed and please post your thoughts on which one is better.
