11 july 2025, 7pm BST, we're going full bushido, starting w/ heat A of MW samurai elite. Polygon crosses paths again w/ two former opponents in fellow SS ever-present Rapier and returning former champion Keith, while Solar Flare and Littlespark run back their back and forth banger from SS3 but w/ a third robot in the arena in the form of Picky. Only one of these six can go through to the final.

I read hft's rules and saw that there's no hard weapon limits, then gears started turning in my head. As a result I've built Vlad The Penetrator and Father-Less; a rammer w/ 2 Vlad spears and a FBD w/ 4 triple large beaters.

so, the events' formats will now be as follows due to not filling up:
survival of the fittest (4 robots): qualifying 1v1s and the first round 3 way rumbles will be skipped, as we go straight to the 4 way rumble that restarts w/ 3 robots and then again w/ 2
double demolition (0 teams, 0 robots): cancelled, what do you want me to do w/ an event that literally has 0 entries?
samurai's academy (8 robots): same format, just shrunk down to 2 round robin heats of 4 w/ the top 2 from each progressing to a single elimination bracket where the first round is heat winners v heat runners up, two robots from the same builder cannot be drawn into the same heat
bushido boss (5 robots): same format, just shrunk down to 4 fights where the winner stays onto the next one until one robot remains, which will advance to battle Rising Sun in the boss battle
birth of the sport (6 robots): round robin heats will now consist of 3 robots and there will be 2, the winners of each battle 1v1 in the final
war of the weapons (4 spinners, 4 flippers, 4 axes, 2 rammers, 4 everything else): same format, except heat d for rammers will now be a single 1v1 fight

Signups are now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered, due to events not filling I will adjust the formats of the events which I will announce soon. Robots invited to samurai elite that have not yet been confirmed have until the 20th to be confirmed or they will lose their place in it.

The time that signups close tomorrow will be either when I'm back at my aunt's after the exam or when I'm back home afterwards. Any robots that have been sent but not checked on the day will be checked before I close signups, although if your robot is found to be illegal then you've lost your last chance to get in.

New robot built for samurai's academy in SSB. Doloris has a hammer shaped like the head of a guitar w/ strings too! I had hoped to make the strings on the main body out of the same parts as the one on the weapon but that's one of the things that weight issues meant I couldn't do, so was a shape that wouldn't be so easily doable w/ the ingame chassis maker. Looks wise I think great idea, but gimped by weight issues. Going forward I might make my future MWs and CWs OBJs then extenderbots be HW and up only.

Not the announcement I said I'd do today, but I decided a couple of weeks ago that I don't feel like just holding out for a milestone that may or may not be reached before closing SSB signups. The plan now is that there are two weeks left of signups, which will close on the 6th of june. Please note that this will not be at midnight as I have an exam that day, so there will be some time on the day for you to get your last entries in before I close signups.
For any events not yet full when I close signups, I will alter the comp format based on the final number of entries, and samurai elite invited robots that are yet to be confirmed will have 2 weeks after that to be confirmed or lose their invite to the next in line.

Finally finished the house robot for bushido boss in SSB. This is Rising Sun, taken inspiration for the weapon design from Dead Metal and put it on an overall robot design that hopefully shouldn't be a pushover for whoever wins the gauntlet but still beatable despite a 50% weight advantage. Prolly the worst job I've done of lining up panels for a few years, but tbh I ran out of patience having been trying to get a HR for the boss battle built for 4mths now!

Wednesday will be one month since SSB signups opened, so I would open up second/third entries for certain events that day. However, I'm going on holiday tomorrow and won't be back til friday, so I'm doing this a week later, on the 30th. Events this'll Apply to are as follows:
- samurai's academy and birth of the sport for second entries, must be a different bot type from your first
- war of the weapons for third entries, must be a different weapon category from your first two
!f by the 23rd of may signups still aren't full, I will initiate a one week countdown to the closure of signups on that day or when all events are at least half full, whichever is later. Current accepted entry numbers for events are as follows:
samurai elite: 8/12 MW, 10/12 CW, 10/12 HW
survival of the fittest: 3/12
double demolition, 0/16 robots (0/8 teams)
samurai's academy: 2/16
bushido boss: 3/8
birth of the sport: 4/16

Survival of the fittest is currently 1/12
All other events are yet to have an entry accepted.

signups are now **OPEN!**
- samurai's academy entrants are allowed to already exist before this announcement, as long as they've never entered a tournament before
- birth of the sport entries must be built new after this announcement
- builders of the robots invited to take part in samurai elite will be contacted about the invites shortly and can confirm them unchanged, send updates, replacements (as long as they're close enough in design to de considered a spiritual successor) or withdraw them starting now
