Baseplate anchors actually create space in between the ground and the wedgelets.
The little cube anchors work best for wedgelets.
ahh ok, thanks.
now that i noticed it those "ramps" aren't skirts at all, but more like two long extenders with wedge at the end.

and another test! also some changes.

use extenders instead of bars
you mean like extender anchor instead of aluminium/steel extenders?

first tests

as you can see the bots isn't all covered in "chain", because it was expensive in terms of power and also kind of useless.
edit: and only now i noticed that i didn't added the wedges.

IronAwe or Forklift's Revenge
Forklift's Revenge.
yeah, i know that i still have to make T2 and Scorpion, but Forklift's Revenge design caught my attention, altough it was a sh**ty bot in terms of combat power.

anyway, Robopig it's finished and now it has custom tires!

new bot on the way, can you guess which one is?

The graphics don't have anything to do with the model not working. It's more about the overall topology within your model. Since OBJRA2 requires the model to be split into tris (Having triangular faces within your mesh) to process the model and build a mesh. Knowing that this is a game from 2003, you want to have as few polygons/tris as possible for the game to build the mesh without causing the game to slowdown or even crash.
well, all the models i did had less polygons than the polygons limit (86 faces), and triangulated.
but anyway first time i tried they didn't worked, and the problem was that the graphics quality was set to high, this gives problems also with BFEd chassis.
this is pathetica on low quality

and this is high quality

then Pathetica was Spastethica

Yeah OBJ is free. The download's floating around on here somewhere. Besides that you need blender or some other CAD software, but there are a few free options

Blender is free if im not wrong.
Also for the objtora2 chassis you need to set the graphics to low or else they wont work. There should be a guide here anyway

...now, where's the real chassis?
Aside from that, I like it.
Thanks!
Anyway, we  can say that all 3 are real, i think im going to release all of them

almost done (need to texture tires)! and testing three designs.
1st eyes style, texture (based on reference image from RW wiki)

second eyes style, pieces

3rd style, texture (based on the profile image i have, taken from a drawing from an artist called c-studios)

armed with "Vicious Piggy Lick", a tongue which bursts out and also lifts. (this was hard to make right not because it wasn't working but because mixing powerful piston with powerful lifter made the robot fly if it tried to lift an enemy without passing the wedge underneath, so i had to nerf it)

Both look fine in their own respective way but I think that the second one is better suited.
yeah, i also think so.

well, my friends, i think i did my decision but...can you tell me which one looks better in your opinion?

also, 4 likes for my Torque replica?! including Scrap Daddy?!
 :claping thanks guys!  :claping
didn't thought you liked it that much.

so, i was planning to make Robopig as the next bot, but i've noticed that it still have something to tweak. also i'm undecided if i should make the eyes as separate components (cylinder extenders in RA2) or as texture. in my opinion the first sounds more suitable, but i have to test.
in the meantime i did a less known bot, or we can say in this case a "Reserve" bot.

It's relatively easy once you get the hang of it

fixed the drill of Torque of the devil.
the real one had 3 triangle blades placed like this.

so it would have been more suitable than just those two beaters. i put 4 wedges to simulate that, should have been 3 but i noticed just now that those triangles are 3 not 4.
it's bigger than his real counterpart, but i prefer it more than the previous result.

also fixed the texture a bit

also, talking about AI, another person (joelcool51) offered help to add it.

you know what?
i wish i could do it, but i never programmed an AI in Robot Arena. and let me tell you. importing those bots in Sonny Resetti AI Pack to test them with AI bots that have strengths and weaknesses kind of gets annoying because it's a continous thing of copy-paste, copy-paste...
i would test them in base DSL 2 but the AI bots included are OP as ****.

is it hard to program an AI in RA2?

also.

I think that some aspects of the design like ears can be easily compiled through the skinning aspect of design rather than a polygonal face aspect. Even without these aspects, I'm sure that people would appreciate the work that went into the physical design aspects and overlook a few inconsistencies in the final product.

One thing that I would change, however, is that I think the pink is a bit too dark and would be better as a salmon type of color, but that's just my view of the color.

yeah, looks better. i should change the texture color to the one you provided.

For OBJ chassis, honestly, the only problem of over 86 faces cause is crashing the game when the chassis starts to spark in battle
yeah, i know. the way to avoid it would be making an armor so hard that it's impossible to reach critical damage.
but yeah, it's not the best idea.

They all look absolutely fantastic. It's a shame that the geometry constraints in RA2 are so limited in terms of chassis design that external software is required for something more than a box or a "circle". Torque of the Devil and RoboPig are both brilliant.
thanks  :laughing
well, now that i notice, i think i rotated Torque's eyes too much, but it can be fixed easily.
Robopig wasn't hard to do, but a big problem was placing the eyes in a way that it looked similar to the original.

the previous version had more distant eyes, and honestly it looked bad. also it lacks ears because there's also a polygon limit for OBJtoRA2 chassis, which is 86 faces, and Robopig chassis was 80 faces, with ears it reached 94. so i need to do those in RA2, same for the tail.

anyway, if there's a result i'm proud of it's Pathetica.

and the chassis for the 5 (not so) mysterious bots are done! (well, 6 considering i redid bodyhammer)

ps= i edited pathetica a bit in ra2 to give it a less powerful axe engine. originally was a Jx burst motor (small), but it was too powerful, like 300-450 damage with iron spike.
so i changed it with a bsg2000, lowering it to 100-150. the mag snapper slow would have been more suitable but.
1) the real bot wasn't that slow with the axe (altough... pathetic(a) in terms of power)
2) the damage was still high (200-250)
