Tournament Archives / Primeval Wars: Discussion« on: October 26, 2019, 09:48:15 AM »Hoping to get entries until November so that I can do filming/uploading in December: Building Rules: IRL HW (800.0 limit) 2 entrants per person, one will be immediately locked into the series, and the other will be judged on a case by case basis if it qualifies. Ideally the first entry should be a signature build of the builder, the second entry being something that stands out (something like a unique weapon system for example) Each entrant must have a different weapon type. So for example you can’t enter 2 vertical spinners even if one’s a drum and the other’s a disc. This is to encourage variety in the entrants. Only cb2 parts allowed are the flatmotor, Overkill servo (assuming you yourself can provide an AI line) and the Hworf blade CF, OBJRA2 and BFE are allowed No eternalflame.py Component Limitations: - Large Teeth (Typhoons & Ripping): 2 (4 for HS) - Small Teeth (Typhoons & Cutting): 4 (6 for HS) - Large/Medium Beater Bars: 8 - Small Beaters: 10 - Mechavore Discs: 1 - Microvore Discs: 2 - Minion Discs: 1 - Mini Minion Discs: 2 - VDMA Bursts/VDMA Front-Hinged Bursts/Storm Bursts: 2 - Beta Burst: 1 Special Note: Multi-bots are treated as one bot (So you can have 2 Small Typhoon Teeth per multi-bot, resulting in 4 Large Typhoon Teeth total, which is allowed). Modular robots are allowed, however, most of the internals and main design MUST remain the same for the interchangeable weaponry/forms (so armour and battery placement changes, but no adding more batteries or moving the control board/drive), and no more than three configurations Clusterbots are allowed, with the max weight split being allowed being 60:40. Deliberately terrible bots or joke-bots will be rejected instantly. Please also refrain from any offensive skins or name for your robot, as these will be asked to change immediately or else they will be rejected. Arena will be a reskinned Robogames arena with fight rules similar to Mech Madness’ BB Reboot Series 3-4 format We’ll be using the most recent edition of DSL 2.2 for this. 4

Bot opinions:
Vespin Mk 2: While externally not much different, there is likely a lot of internal differences for it to maybe retain the title Not Copyright: The non-centred drum is irritating, but for a "stock" DSL bot it's okay Franken: It'll be interesting to see how well that weapon synergy works, but speaking from experience that those sides are open to a hurting. Also exposed burst Oractraz Evo: Clean and looks sturdy Top Hat: Not often do we see white top hats, but then again we also don't often see people using ripping teeth instead of "the meta" so it's pretty good there Sad Slapper: This and Orcatraz are the biggest threats to Vespin's chances, so it might not be so sad soon Craplectric 2: The banana is no longer ripe, and it has been more refined this time Jaguar: Probably the best-looking bot I've made that isn't in the Saturnalia line Supersonic: Box. With the other bots in this heat this one sticks out like a sore thumb SBD: Would be better if the minion disc was skinned, otherwise very clean Cujo 2: Maneater: While the name doesn't entirely match the colour scheme, it does look better than just a generic Tombclone Pike: A beautiful-looking machine that might be doomed in such a spinner-heavy heat DJX: Vengeance Remix: A monumental improvement from Ring! Ring! that does look lovely Bored Again: A very narrow Tombclone Break You Down: Frenzy hammer not often seen, and the rest for the hammer is a nice touch, but the chassis design and exposed motor are off to me Proximus: A lovely undercutter Tree Hugger: What a beautiful axebot from Neon Coal Miner: It looks like something you'd see in classic Robot Wars or Banter Wars, which is fun to see Legacy: The issues with the previous version have been mended and it looks sleek, but I reckon those wedges aren't hinged (they look that way at least) Sarin: Looks clean, and angled wheelguards are quite nice Gecko: Boxy but clean. Favourite module is probably the flipper, least favourite being the spinner Distributor: Looks okay, but it is very bare which is a worry Slightly M.A.D.: Still keeps to the theme and looks okay, but exposed bursts aren't exactly fun Tearaway: Who remembers that great Vita game? Anyway a nice clean standard drumbot Duality: Gemini but only one bot. Also I apologise for the 4 small Typhoons The Machine: Breaker Box but squashed to the point its scoop doesn't work Cruor: Standard RA2 undercutter really, not much else to say Solar Storm 4: The previous champ is back and still looks clean Pure Abuse. Exposed flats with frail supports. Aside from that I guess it's okay Kopter: A beautiful tribar spinner? How does he manage it? Binary Star Systems: Despite going from a horizontal pair to a vertical pair they retain their beauty quite nicely Critical Mach II: A nice looking flipper from Robo Kirin3: Honestly do not like this one, it's just a mess really. Much prefer the Kirin from OW3's World Champs V2: A nice treaded robot here. Shame that the weapon isn't 100% centred, but it's as centred as no BFE can allow, and that's quite honourable Murderous Beetrute: Is it wrong that this bot looks adorable to me? Doomed, but adorable Earth, Wind & Fire: From tiny vert of Legacy to big "f' off" vert of this thing, it's quite fun to watch Catalyst: As clean as it was before really, not much else to say Tsuihou: Ceros 2 with a cyan flipper. Not an intentional reference I don't think but it's nice all the same Pandrumonium: Pretty decent eggbeater bot, kinda standard though Veorra: *insert that F3 meme here* Puxxgear: Not as lovely as the Snowcogs, but still a nice-looking shell spinner Arctic Storm Mini: Took me a while to realise what its weapon is, but it reminds me of Wedge of Doom, and that's fun Pulse 3: BlueFlatline Neon Light: Looks nice and clean of a full-body drum Archon: Clean albeit regular vert. But what is the alternate weapon setup? Koto: A nice clean clampbot Queen Bee II: Another standard vert with the "black and X" colouration. Though I still like it Gatecrash: And finally a robot that reminds me of Pulsar from Series 8, so obviously this gets bonus points in my book Overall we have a lot of vertical spinners, but most of the roster looks very nice 7

So important announcement: due to how big of a gap it was between the tourney opening and such I have reopened and renovated signups, so people can send me new bots or keep their original entrant

Tournament Archives / Primeval Wars« on: April 30, 2018, 12:27:03 PM »So I've decided to host a small (and I do mean small) tournament to get me started in DSL hosting. This is a 24 robot competition Build Rules: IRL HW Only cb2 parts allowed are the flatmotor and Overkill servo CF, OBJRA2 and such are allowed Clusterbots are allowed, including Swarm-style modular clusters, however they must be equal weight clusters (ie. no CW+BW combos, both bots should be MWs with a max combined weight of 800) Modular bots can have a max of 4 configs (Swarm-style clusters can have a max of 6 bots however) No eternalflame.py Max of two stacked components per tooth, with FBSes this is stricter in that if teeth are stacked the max teeth allowed is 4 (thus meaning 2 stacked teeth on opposite sides) Arena is a skinned version of the Robogames arena List of entrants: Bracket: EDIT: I forgot to mention, PM me your entrants through Discord or GTM 15

Congrats to DSC on the hat-trick, and my second silver medal in a row. That tree is the first thing I built that isn't combat orientated (even that millipede could be used in combat. It'd suck, but that's besides the point), and it took quite a long time to make. Heck, I missed someone's podcast (one I was meant to be on) because I was making it :P
