1. I know how to paint my bots, but I don't, 2. why is having gearboxes sticking out illegal? Or is it illegal in your tournament?
Do you see any real life combat robots having their drive motors outside of the chassis? No you don't.
In the overall IRL meta, you're supposed to build your bots as what you expect to see in real life competitions such as Battlebots and Robot Wars. Likewise when building these sort of bots in RR2, the rules of realism come into play. Having motors outside of the chassis without any proper support will not acceptable due to a. the motors falling off and dragging along the ground, b. your bot would be disqualify for exposed wiring, and c. floating motors are not possible in IRL. As a result, your bot will not be classed as realistic, and would be rejected from RR2 tournaments running the IRL meta. So when building in the IRL meta, think about how they would be like if they were in real life. There's a handy guide here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/tutorials-and-tips/irl-a-beginner's-guide/ I know it for Robot Arena 2, but you can easily transfer building tips to RR2.
Also, please used the attachment system, this tutorial should help: https://gametechmods.com/forums/site-news-and-feedback/how-to-use-insert-attachment/
actually, look at battlebots shaft or that bitty bot from robot wars. theres plenty of bots with their drive motors out
Even though those bots have their drive motors exposed, at least that they have visible support under, or around the motors. In shafts case, the motors looks like they are slightly inserted into the main chassis. In Team Lighting's case, the motors of his bot were inserted away from the chassis itself than looking like it's intersecting with the chassis, giving the impression of the motors just floating in mid-air, than being supported like in real life. To your correction, you are allowed to have motors outside of the chassis, but there must be some-kind of visible support for the motors.

Hello my fellow GTM users, In recent years I feel as though we have had an increase in toxic users these include but are not limited to Boppin, funny Croatian man, code smeg, untitled Geese game and Honey Badger. I believe these users are responsible for the increase in toxicity on GTM. Please people rise up and dont let these bullies take over the server. If you have ever felt threatened by one of these users please call 0800 1111 for childline. Thank you for your time
This is what I come back to, top quality ****posting.

What incentive(s) would persuade YOU to help out with hosting? I know hosting can be a chore but if we really want to get things running better then we need to start working better as a community.
I would like to see a possibility of a back-up host for each of the monthly events. Let's say that if one person cannot host the challenge belt within a set time period for some reason such as the person is too busy with real life or doesn't response. Then someone else can easily pick-up the bots for a challenge belt or splashes for BOTM and carry on. As much of the reliability is spot on for these things in this community is right on check, having a back-up host is more just "it's better safe than sorry" for any long possible delays.

I wouldn't mind hosting BOTM maybe as just a one off, or possibly as long running position.

We used to have that monthly challenge belt, were users enter to win a belt icon to go with their user title. But since users on gtm lost interest in entering, the challenge belt was abandoned. Though if you want to bring up "fight of the month", you might as well just revive the challenge belt.

Thoughts and opinions:
1. Pretty neat replica of the Martian. Though it would help if there was some stats for the bot including weight etc. 2. Hi CodeSilver. That's a pretty nice RR2 bot. However, botm is supposed to be anonymous, because it's meant to be for users to have a guess on who built what etc. 3. Yeah, that's pretty much a poor man's sandwich. Nothing else to say.

From what everyone has listed about the problems with RA2 and GTM so far, it something that I do agree with. Most of these reasons were why I stopped playing RA2, not just because I didn't have the time or effort to put into the game, but also from being happening over the forums. One point I would make is around tournaments gtm and why I don't participate in tournaments that much: all the tournaments hosted on the site have all been using the DSL-IRL meta, every other meta include stock and ironforge is dead. In turn, every time someone tries to host a tournament which runs on any of the dead metas or attempting to revive said meta, barely anyone jumps to the gun when sign-ups are open.
I've nothing against the DSL-IRL meta even if it's not my cup of tea, since there are plenty good bots and tournaments, but I'm just pointing about that because the tournaments on GTM have been doing nothing but DSL-IRL. This may be because DSL-IRL is very easy to get into from a new player's pov since you just design a robot like what you see on shows like Battlebots and Robot Wars, with having to follow key rules including no part intersection etc. Stock and Ironforge on the other hand is different, while there is no restrictions, but the level of requirement for both this metas including glitches and building a bot for effectiveness over looks, is enough to put off any new comers to the meta and thus cause a general decline in users enter such tournaments.
In turn and would sound stupid: I do feel that gtm should do more with using the dead metas in tournaments to gather interest from new users, and possibly try a see a new bloom instead of concluding that meta is dead, and we should just focus on DSL-IRL for the next two or more years.
Nobody plays stock, IF, DSL-S etc because none of the advocates for it are actually active enough to push any newbie towards it.
That's the point. Since every other meta including Stock, IF, DSl-S is dead, then tournament hosts would just assume "Why bother setting my tournament meta to something like Stock etc. if no one is going to enter?" Therefore the majority of tournament hosts would go and focus on the most active meta which happens to be DSL-IRL, in turn continues the complacent syndrome, encouraging users to continue focusing on the DSL-IRL meta, no one would want to play any of the other meta, and soon they're considered dead by the community. imo the reason nobody plays builds it is because there is no room left for innovation since everything has become so well optimized so unless you are doing PVP you can basically bet 1/2 to 3/4ths of the enteries to a tourney are gonna follow the same basically formula since you gotta if you want to win.
There is no innovation left in stock, everyone knows that all tournament entries in stock are going to either be tri-bar spinners or pop-ups. It still doesn't stop users from trying hence RedAlert, even if we did shoot him down for his "discoveries". As for Ironforge, it's the same story with DSL-S since both metas follow the same paths in designs, expect with componment changes. But I also believe that DSL-IRL is guilty of this as well, and I'm ready to be booed upon for this. But when thinking about it, you may some innovation for something like cooler vertical spinner that's on an axle bot chassis that you made with drums, but to the core it's still a vertical spinner, it's nothing really new it's done before. Once you see one vertical spinner, you've seen them all. I know they are all different, but that's how I see the meta really.

Hello there. I'm new to GTM it seems.
Recently roboteers faced the issue of their videos disappearing because YouTube's algorithm flagged them as animal abuse. I was wondering if some of you had the same issue and if this also affects RA2 videos or if they are safe as they are mostly listed in the videogames category
>Youtube's Algorithm takes down a bunch of robot combat videos for animal abuse. > There's clearly no animals present in said videos. In all seriousness, this is actually quite stupid on Google's part. The programmers that worked on the algorithm should of closely tested their work before launching it onto the site, preventing such incidents like this from happening in the first place. Keep in mind that a large majority of robot combat fights, including live events had been in circulation on YouTube, being the only way to watch the action after the fight happen. So effectively, google had taken down years worth of robot combat fights within the platform being the primary methods of watching them, and google doesn't care. It's a sad day to be part of the community, but what can we do about it?

Well, I'll be watching the Nintendo segment with a watch party from my University's Nintendo society. Apart from that, I'll just sit back and enjoy the show.
'Nintendo society' That is literally the saddest thing i've ever heard. where do I join?
My university had a Pokemon Society. We held tournaments and watched random episodes of the anime. It was honestly great fun.
Yeah, "Nintendo society" is the closet thing that my University has to actual gaming society. Pretty fun though, if you don't mind the heavy focus on Nintendo consoles.

You got to be kidding me? My quick made conversion of a failed experiment with a poor wedge, managed to beat Astra, a powerful flipper, in a matter of seconds?! Talk about a lucky break. Honestly, I did not expect that to happen, I honestly thought my bot was going to get curbstopped from being thrown around, but, looks like the AI manged to put Astra up against the wall and pinned it. GG, Roboteer.

Why in the hell in stock in bot of the month? Nothing Is even creative in the damn game, and its so outdated. They always seem to win bot of the month by using SPIKES. If you cant be creative then dont play RA2
If you don't like the Stock meta, then don't disrespect those who happen to play it. End of story.

That was easy, looks like the dark queen still lives after turning over Playzooki's bot and just keeping it there. Probably would of expect that with Generic shell spinner's last match. GG Playzooki, if you're reading this.

Look's like luck wasn't on my side. Still, at least Merlina 2 didn't get that badly trashed up than I thought, despite being pushed around for most of the match. But, there's always the loser's bracket to go through. GG Badger.

Well, that was surprising. It seems that my somewhat terrible SHW was more useful that I thought, seeing how it was able to push around Dreamcast's bot, flip it over and getting it stuck by the arena wall. GG Dreamcast.

...and how am I supposed to know if something's invented or not, when it hasn't been mentioned to me until last second? I know I invented Wandering Spinners because they have never been mentioned before, and are definitely new
I removed the extender mounting the drive and weapon motor and mounted the snapper sideways: (Image removed from quote.) CRAZY!

Well, that's that over. I'm surprised that Eos was able to take out three bots, before losing to Dreamcast's bot. I thought Eos would go out earlier. Still, it's been a fun ride despite being killed in the first round, and congratulations Wen on your victory!
