Oh cool, I didn't even know this was possible, thought you could only move baseplate stuff for whatever reason
Thanks Badnik  :thumbup

Hey guys
Not built anything in a while so this took like 3 complete re-dos to look even slightly okay, but anyway.
Named it Griffin:

Some alternate skins:

Happy Halloween people.
Back to one of my favourite robots to remake to give DSC's irl extenders a go. Darkened the skin slightly on both of the green extenders to make them match with the skin of the bot, and tried to make the extenders line up with the stripes of the robot too.
Uses component freedom, of course.

Bonus pic of it skinned like the original:

In case anyone asks, yes this is DSL2.2, I just added the arenas from the RWRA2 mod.

Cool stuff man
Would be better if you could use the proper instruments, as you said
Any chance of a MIDI? I'd love to mess around with it a bit myself. If not, no worries

Very nice work here man, looks overall very clean and well constructed

I wonder, would it be possible to set the flipper speed/power by getting the perm's speed via a python script?
I'd also like to know this, I've got a bot like this that would need it. I doubt you can set the power of the actual flip from the speed of the perm, but it could well be possible to just not allow it to fire until the perm reaches a certain speed.

Thanks
I'm reminded of NFX's Taur for the flipper variant.  Nice.  I love how you made the nightmare teeth feather-like things.
That's true now you mention it, I had TillyEwe 2 in mind
Looks dope, skin's is flawless as usual. How'd you make the wings at the side?
4 nightmare teeth, as RedAce said, but to expand a bit the back 3 are on a al40 extender, with the front one on an extra multiextender coming from the middle attachment point. All the teeth use their side attachment points, so it was just a matter of rotating them into the best looking place. Also used component freedom to turn off collisions for that

New robot: Red Kite
Started out as a successor to my old Battlebots entry Blood Eagle, but I decided I liked it more as a flipper. Those seem to be popular right now  :dumb)

Those are so awesome
The edges on shogun match up so nicely, and the clamp on cranky spanky is really clean

These are looking sweet
Can I get a closer look at Ronin/Shogun and Hanky Panky?

What don't you like about the round robin thing, Thyrus? Just curious, I don't see anything really to take issue with
I personally like these teasers, but I can see why people might not. Since these are just teaser trailers I imagine we'll have a proper longer trailer at some point that might be more in line with what the battlebots trailers were like.

Nice work man :)
First and last bots are my favorites
I do feel like the bar spinner would look nicer if you used the green of the text in place of the cyan of the metal, and went for black text. That's just my preference, the actual layout of the skin and the construction of the robot I really like.

This is pretty cool man. Using the jet engines I made something that stuck to the ground a bit better:

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing anything else you make

So, I tried RA3 out, but really couldn't do what I wanted to with it. I think it might be a little while before I try it again.
In the meantime, new robot:

Front closeup:

Alternative version with aluminium extenders for a bit more colour consistency, but I don't really like it so much:

Overall a fairly simple design + skin, only about 20 layers between 4 files (one main file, one for the mouth, one for both sets of eyes). Pretty fun to make the eyes, and made use of Sergepatcher with the extender frame.

Wedges not existing is 100% unacceptable. A fancy chassis system counts for nothing if the chassis only "looks" different.

Here's a quick video showing 2 fights. You will easily be able to see what I mean.
Sorry about the cruddy quality.

Note- at the end of the second match the bot was unresponsive.

{snip}
Wow
I was so distracted by the building related stuff I hadn't realized how bad this was. Thanks for taking the time to make the video man

RA2's only real issue with skinning was resolution - you can have all of these fancypants decals like in DSL but you're still working with a 256x256 canvas, divided into even smaller chunks. If you're good with image editors you can just use the bitmap exporter and go to town - and as it turned out we could inject bigger chassis textures into bot files if we so wanted. There's no warping of the kind you see in RA3 right now. It just needs work.
Absolutely agree with this
RA3's skinning means I can't do the part of making a robot that I liked the most anymore, and it's building mechanics mean I don't enjoy the rest of making it either.
I don't think the game is beyond repair, but I'm really not happy with it's current state. Pretty much what a lot of you guys seem to be saying.

So, uh, anyone else seeing these achievements?

Two pugs looking at pizza, a fox and a Zinogre icon? Interesting

Weird. I can not see any bots in showcases anymore. neither stock nor DSL. BOTM works fine though
Edit: I can view it on my phone and I must say this bot looks amazing. As always.
Thanks man :)

By making use of Serge's Component Freedom patch (thanks Serge!) I was able to make the flipper look a little more consistent:

It's awesome to be able to build without that pointless limit now

Two of my favourite robots right now are Bronco and Dystopia. So, I thought why not combine them:

Back:

I put a couple of invisible flippers on it, including one that fires downwards (in the same way as Beast does in RWRA2), so it's pretty acrobatic when it flips:

And finally here's an alternate version with staggered wheels and hazard lights:

Lining up the weld lines was a pain as always, but doing the top panel was more fun.
Here's hoping that RA3 exports skins better than RA2 does.
