Happy 10th anniversary, me.

This place shaped me a lot in my early years of highschool, and I'm incredibly thankful for the time spent here. Most of the 2010-2014 lot have moved on and honestly I don't blame them, though I do miss them and think of them from time to time. They put up with me when I was an attention starved kid, and I wish them well wherever they are.

I've had a blast with this game and with this community. Thank you all for being who you are, and continue to be. Maybe I'll be seeing people at live shows in the UK again soon once I start winding my competitive osu! career down.

Here, have an improved White Blob, the most memorable robot I made:

Two blacks, 4x HPZ drive, as airtight as a DSA chassis gets whilst still having enough space for stacks. Not tested the wedge against anything, just built it because I'm feeling nostalgic for times long gone.

Bot exchange download

Wishing everyone the best.

I miss this place sometimes

Decided to see if I could make a dumb concept work. thinnest, longest, shortest chassis with longest possible wedge

soon realised I had nowhere to put drive so I gave up and used CF

It's too slow, needs HPZ and more battery to actually be usable.

I call it Long Boi

God I love when geese builds stock

Yeah, try a nifty and a round extender instead of square extenders.

Yeah sure let me just underpower my burstmotor and add extra unnecessary weight on a robot I don't even remember building for the most part  :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

Lost the world cup so I got really drunk and channeled my emotions into something dumb

It's awful, overweight and I think the razor rupts sometimes it's so funny

The reason the setup works on whatever Click made (Ludicrous Speed? I can't recall) is because on the limited freedom on its axle. With 90 degrees you can guarantee that the weapon will return to its position but with a freely spinning axle you'll probably have to move back and forth to nudge the weapon back.

Ludicrous Speed was one of my favourite robots back in the day, used to open up DSL just to cock around with it. Was definitely my inspiration, but it's too hard to replicate in other ways without limited-motion axles

hi i just invented a new robot type!!1!

I call it the Axle Reaction Spike Emitter!

It drives really fast into the opponent and then it makes them hit the bracket wedge and then the axel spins and then the spikes hit the other robots on their exposed bottom side and then it does it over and over and then the other robot dies!

Decided to just cheat and use ra2cf to get the exostack I wanted

And then realised it was impossible anyway

In other news, I'm bad at building tallbois

Yes there's a cb poking out of the side I got lazy and didn't switch clients

I really like it, but the extenderwork for the plow setup is hella janky

If the plow thing's what you're actually trying to achieve, then you probably just want to tweak your new wedge setup. Rotate the extenders holding the snapper so the snappers are pointing towards the back, then build your plow setup from the ends of those extenders. Should be just enough for a top plow or bracket wedge.

Yeah it's pretty bad I agree, might abandon it altogether in favour of something else I haven't thought of yet

jank.png

The HPZ attaches to the diagonal 60cm extender, which there's a 20cm on the other side of to attach the snapper to, and the 140cms attach to different anchors at the top. Definitely been a little constrictive with my thinking and I'll likely come back to it fully when I'm better at building. Moving on for now though, lessons learned

pretty sure a veteran is going to know what he's talking about with regards to weight on snappers

Rebuilt it, also now obeys the rule of 7

Would like something above the drums to stop opponents going over but weight doesn't allow it and I don't want to drop to 2wd, probably more efficient to base mount the drive at that point

IMO the last 2 bots show why sometimes the tightest chassis isn't the best setup you could use. More extenders just mean more points of failure.

For example, you could make the drum chassis wider so the snappers can be attached to the anchors (or even better, the baseplate). It should weigh roughly the same and it gives your bot more HP.

While the VS was purely for novelty, you're right. I don't think the drum bot is the best I could make, I got too fixated on the idea of a snapper setup I had in mind and forgot to pay attention to much else. Didn't have much experience with heavies back when I was active and that really shows

Snapper setup wasn't even that good either

Also the snappers probably could have been attached to the anchors anyway I'm not sure I was thinking logically when I put them on extenders

That's not a pyscolone popup. You need two wedges.

you're wrong pysc popups only have one wedge.

Oh really? Shows how clouded my 6 year old knowledge is

Shrink the chassis. Cloning a pyscolone is a perfect way to learn to make tight chassis. Also, rotate your razors the same way so they all hit at the same time.

Probably the fastest triple stacked black (2 minutes) I've ever done, shame it was in a sandbox chassis. I'm sure this was like impossible 8 years ago

also what

Anyway here have a drumbot

Geice could probably make this look better than I can, my stock builds were never great. 32 razors, 2 blacks

EDIT: gdi i could turn the chassis around 180 degrees and swap which mounting points i use for the drive and spinners, would probably make it look far better but im done for today

If I added another razor to the LW HS, it would have plastic armor and also be a middleweight.

...

I wanted MiniBerg to be as snug as possible. I like your idea of the shallower wedge, but I wanted more weapons.

???

[LW HS] Rebuild the chassis to remove empty space

[LW Popup] cut down on space around the components

You're also 8kg underweight on miniberg anyway, no point not using it for something

more bots... They all have DSA.

a LW HS. Again, it looks like an existing bot so I wanted to change it up a bit.

Name's Unquenchable 2. There's the original Unquenchable in my second Special Forces pack (not in downloads yet)
Unquenchable 2 in the test garage...

generic ax head rammer with a wedge. It's not AIed to use the wedge to flip, even though it has a control for it and even a smartzone (this screenshot has the bot without the smartzone attached.)

HW popup.....and no it's not SpiTe 2.
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

LW HS is missing a razor. Rebuild the chassis to remove empty space and you'll save more than enough weight for it. Also the redbirds are probably too high to be effective, it'll just get out-weapon'd by every other 9HS that seems to be commonplace these days or wedged underneath by popups and one shot

Again, rammer could probably benefit from less empty space. Spend the time to cut down on it and you'll have a lot more weight to play with. You could probably also make it shorter, wedge tends to be useless on a pure rammer. No point telling us you've put a smart zone on it either, it really doesn't matter

HW Popup, ramplates are off centre and there isn't nearly enough of them. DDT wedges are better (unless I missed some form of wedge innovation whilst I was gone) and there's still empty space that you could have put into weapons or wedges.

Speaking of weight, how much do any of these actually weigh?? It's unclear

Okay, so I guess those bots are fine...

Got bored and rebuilt MiniBerg. It's now a popup. 5 razors, Snapper 2 for weapon power, RAD drive, DSA. I built this bot on a different RA2 game I had.
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

This has to be the most BORING rumble ever... my MiniBerg popup getting flipped around by my rebooted Scout bot, Lil' Dog destroyed, and Catfish inverted. MiniBerg hardly landed many hits on Scout. MiniBerg still won the rumble, but I really did not like how boring this fight was.

LW popup is fine, you can get away with bigger chassis for the extra hp it allows. Again, if you cut down on space around the components you could make the chassis wedge shallower or even removing razors (you might be overloading the snapper) could help you add more size or width to the wedge.

If you're getting no responses but you still want to improve things, self-evaluate.

Did you use the stacking technique where you rotated the chassis repeatedly and zoomed in and out, or did you use a different technique?

Anyway, that's very clever.

It just kinda fell into place, I knew you could stack a nifty on a cb from past experience with none of the sides of the nifty outside of the cb hitbox so it was a case of making a pixel tight cb chassis

Anyway I was missing an obvious answer, not sure how well it works in combat because it can't turn left or right due to a bug that I forgot existed

EDIT:
Took 20cm off the stabilizers and added it to the width of the wheels, also angled the stabilizers downwards slightly more. It turns now :dumb)

got a pixel tight nifty+cb stack and then started looking for an exostack on an anchor that probably doesn't exist

wasted an hour and now i cant think of the extender setup to make this lightweight tribar vs work

Hey nice to see you around here again!

Honestly,  for improvements, I'd probably say to maybe just give it better drive, cause HPZ's would work wonders, and I honestly can't see the samurai swords doing anything other than hinder its performance.

Also, for AI packs, I'd say maybe Starcore V4, INF AI, PYS AI and ReStocked 2018 would be good picks for testing if a bot is viable or not.

Nice to be welcomed back :D

The swords are there to keep things on the razors, the previous version had exactly the qualities you suggested but probably wasn't airtight because I saved so much weight somewhere:

Also I got so fixated on whether I could that I didn't stop to think about whether I should

Interesting snapper stack that I did because I left the wedge as an afterthought

The hell am I doing I should really be preparing for the osu! World Cup not building robots in a game I haven't touched in a year

Face Hugger 2, Pixel Tight chassis, rest should be visible.

Side note, which stock AI packs are good these days I'm bored of killing Emergency
