idk here's some updates since late 2020, nick posted a pic of og sir lance-a-frog on discord and i got nostalgic for this place

we built a new flamingo which didn't get into battlebots but who even cares their loss

we're still having fun so it's still happening

snappy got retired cos it's old and sad but it did meet panic attack

mr cat's mouse house got like 2 new versions and is also done for now

bish bash bosh got a mini version that accidentally came third at our own comp

mr cat's mouse mansion became a goose

i got bored and made a tiny beta called bop! which looks cool

see you in 2026

I see this area of the forum is dead in general but wow, 2 years. Feels like time for some form of update. I'll split this into sections... long post ahoy...

Snappy
Snappy has done various events in the last 2 years and underdone various upgrades and rebuilds.
BBB3, July 2018. 3rd place.

Bugglebots Season 1, Sept 2018. 4th place.

Secret cameo as froggy house robot for bodgebots event

Bugglebots Season 2, April 2019. Dung Beetle winner

BBB Beetle Champs, March 2020, as Super Snappy. Top 8.

Snappy fundamentally looks very similar over this time but has had various upgrades and changes... most of which outlined here

go and watch bugglebots tho it's great here's all snappy's fights from season 1

Mr Cat's Mouse House
had a rebuild in 2019, it was dumb as ever and could actually (hilariously) self right. did terribly at uk beetle champs 2019.

Two-Headed Death Flamingo
it's still a thing.
some fun fights from 2019:

2019 upgrade summary/vlog:

Bish Bash Bosh
New collab feather cluster between us Bristol Bot Builders boys. They're fun.

build/test videos:

okay that's enough i'm not including any ants or other shenanigans, see you in another 2 years

re: turning a bot with massive gyro, i rewatched this yesterday and sam really demonstrates how tricky turning something with a massive disc can be, literally just tapping the turn button is about as realistic as it gets

oh my god please learn to post images like a human
https://gametechmods.com/forums/tutorials-and-tips/guide-to-making-good-screenshots/
it's not hard. follow the steps.
You realise which you're talking to, right?

i don't see why that should make a difference. learn. it's been long enough.
Again, you do realise who this is? Please tell me you realise.
Please
Literally what are you on about

edit: Just a heads up BTW Craig, the guide you linked to for uploading images is a tad outdated for the new (well, 2018 new) image attachment system. Obviously the cropping sections and stuff are still relevant though

ty, i'll maybe edit the old one as it might be useful.

yeah i know i'm just messing around with you. all his beetles/feathers including our new joint feather are all direct drive brushless, but for game purposes i think this is the right way to go about things :)

Speaking of real life, do you have any idea what is happening with Bugglebots this year?

i know some of the team are keen to get back at it but others have been pushing for at least a year off given the amount of work needed after filming, this was even before covid kicked off.

ALL MOTORS MUST BE GEARED DOWN.

period.  full stop.  This is true for building in real-life too.

a certain gareth barnaby would argue otherwise

Henlo here for my yearly visit
Glad you enjoyed the event! Makes all the hard work worth it. We're hoping to run another RN in August but under the current circumstances, who knows.
