Then I've been here for 20 years and in all honesty, this nearly is where it all started. The first Robot Arena game was released in 2001 when the internet was still shiny and new, and there has been some kind of forum and community attached to it for the last 20 years. That's rare.

I came here to discuss Robot Arena 3. Clearly being the best game in the series. What has happened to the RA3 forum?

The day craigslist removed the personals section was a sad day for the internet.

Actually, I am retired, but just wanted to bitch about the democrats releasing the virus on us.

That $190.00 would pay for two fishing trips.

This. The great reset is upon us. Fear central bank digital currencies. GD commies.

The internet may not be as big as we imagined. Laughed myself silly when I saw it accredited to RFSMediaProductions

I think some of y'all are too used to playing DSL and the like. The stock bots in RA2 were nothing to brag about either. They left the bot building up to us as that's the point of the game. The stock AI is only there to give you an extremely brief idea of what you can do. As far as I know these people are computer programmers, not real life bot builders or even robot warfare enthusiasts. Making the game work properly should be the main focus, not creating insane bot designs. This is or was a children's game after all.

EDIT: agreed Sage . Wrote this before your post popped up.

Personally I like "cheating." It makes up for what the games lacks. and I live my life by the notion that the only rule is what a man can do, and what a man can't do.

Even if it is more of a port (not calling it one, still holding out for release), if it has a modern multiplayer with no lag then it should satisfy.

I was going to go through and change the passthrough for everything in Components.cfz and add all attachment point types to all GMF files. What I used to do for building AAM bots. That and change the collision mesh to the smartzones. but this is better.

Modifications / Dummy's MakeCFL Tutorial
« on: May 04, 2016, 06:55:11 AM »
Dummy's site went down. Says RIP 2015. Does anyone have his MakeCFL tutorial? Specifically for recompiling. Lu-Tze's GUI is driving me crazy having to add a single file at a time.

Discussion / Re: 1.4 Patch
« on: May 03, 2016, 06:01:12 PM »
... my bad. IIRC i threw this together after we found the 140cm square extender and some other stuff.

could have made it cleaner, I agree. Maybe we need a 1.5 patch with Serge's removal of the 7 limit?

Was just going to suggest this same thing after getting my base game install together.

-Added Bigger MaxSphere
-Added Unlimited Mass Mod
-Added Component Freedom EXE

-Noticed that smartzones are still hidden = 1.  Went to fix this myself. Forgot how to play with makecfl and Lu-Tze's GUI version is paining me because it won't let me select all text files in a folder, I highlight them all, and press add files and still only one file is added. Is there a windows legacy mode I can run this in to resolve or was it always broken and I don't remember?

I'll try that. I was thinking maybe run the game as an Administrator since I need to give myself Admin rights just to copy files to the folder but that solution sounds easier anyhow.

Who made this piece of sh**?

I decided to install RA2 when I realized that all of you will still be light years ahead with RA3 for the mere fact that you've been thinking about building concepts at all in the last decade.

Anyway, this 1.4 "patch" just dumps the freaking AI component folders into the root RA2 folder, cluttering everything up. We were doing this mod and creating preview pics for them way back in the day, pretty sure RFS might have had something that did it. but we knew how to do it without making a mess and putting folders where they should effing go.

Does it? That sounds pretty shitty, I agree.

I just use the the full game download these days. It comes pre'patch'ed properly.

I noticed that the 1.3 Patch executable is included in this 1.4 full game download. Am I supposed to run that or has it already been and it's just leftover? The Readme file still says 1.2

EDIT: actually just looked at the copy of the game I patched up myself. The readme still says 1.2 even after running the 1.3 patch so that's not a sure sign to go off of.

I figured RA2.cfg is where the game was saving game options. Has anyone else had a problem with the game not saving settings and going back to default on each launch? Windows 8.1
