This is too complicated. Can't we just be ruled via despots who enforce unclear policies on an inconsistent basis?

This IS still an autocracy, we just can't be bothered to be tyrannical.

Nice to see BOT-CHOY coming back.

What's up with those hand components though ?

Now put it in an arena where it fights three HW SnS and they promptly get stuck because of the arena

I believe that's enough offtopic for a showcase.

I mean, after much thinking I have no issues with people throwing down the gauntlet in other people's showcases, so the former posts are fine, even if offtopic. This video, however, has already been posted in real robotics and hence has no real point being posted here.

if you use spikes for stability purposes only, then use something lighter such as extenders or skirts. it frees up more weight.

weapons are only to be used for actually doing damage, or for aesthetic purposes in IRL. using weapons as stabilizers is a waste of weight, and everything in RA2 building revolves around proper weight management.

and 5mm alu by itself is fine, but since armor choice is really something that multiplies your empty chassis weight, better make a smaller chassis.

I would put the motor outside as well.

Interesting. Slamhammers still look pretty tough visuals-wise, make make them look more fragile ?

it has a huge chassis and lots of armor. i also feel that if you're going to make it a VS/rammer like that, you need all your spikes in front.

seems like you'd be better with more weapon weight as well.

also pole spikes are meh.

Emergency is in the game ? Good. Now we need a rebuild of the stock AI bots.

Well, if we don't have it we'll immediately mod the game and release a stock AI pack, but...

i'm going to be the party pooper :

-we kinda built partly to counter the opposite bot type, now we are supposed to fight with them ? this invalidates quite a bit of our building
-this has always been a rival thing, now it's just changed completely without asking people
-i fully understand that this robot behavior problem is a real problem and it needs to be fixed (i do not mind changes when they are necessary) but then change the arena to something similar that doesn't have the rushing problem, not the whole gimmick. And ask entrants for ideas if you change the arena : they're the ones concerned about this.
-it's changed at the last minute when everyone entered their bots which makes it infuriating.

yeah so, that change is BS. I'm just saying. I understand F'ing up rulesets is a Thrackerzod thing, but that's funny up to a point.

I am done with my rant now, now to the bots...

Flaming euthanasia :

Conducting Chicken : Surprisingly it is average. Although, entering a chicken drill is really hard-mode because chicken drills do generally no damage, use a lot of power and weight, and may be cool (and noisy) but are generally weak competitively.

Carbon Dragon : I really hate flying guillotines.
Two Scarves : It's pretty damn cool. I'm not sure this hammer is the best choice for a clamp, however.

Lucius the Eternal : I am teamed with a pink and Slaaneshi bot ? Truly, this is an affront to my manliness ! Apart from that... I feel that it is not long enough (which is clearly a flaw for a slaaneshi poker of all Freudian things) and that it is going to be inverted easily. Also, lots of weight for side guards (may be necessary however) and I'm not quite sure those wheelguards are going to work, mostly due to being too small.
Blade Assault: Pretty good as far as pokers go. The popups, however, are scaring me.

Mister Smash Smash Bash-Kun! : Apart from the poor choice of name, this is a hammer, a.k.a. tournament hard mode. I still don't like how people are starting to use ant blades as flailing weapons, but that's how the metagame appears to be set up, unfortunately. Still, let's see how far it goes.

Nyoom : Favorite bot so far ! The clamp part appears somewhat weak, however.

Old Man Farts : Scary-looking, especially with no HS in the tournament. Not quite sure what's up with this multiextender setup however.

Who Needs Research : Strange wedge. Also it's fast as hell, probably too much for a popup, and will probably end up tossing opponents out of the arena ala Rage III. Or itself. Or both ! Anyways, this will be entertaining to watch.

A8ER : A solid poker, for sure. I would like to see this one fight mine 1v1 and I'm not quite sure who will win. There are some fragile parts but they appear decently protected.

literally just reVolution but in DSL : Another bot type that I hate. Then again, it's not the builder's fault.

Dinkus Prime : Very fast. Maybe a little too fast ? Armor setup is meh. Although that's DSL 2.2 so there's a change. Also those single point normals on pokers are going to harm things, I feel.

Night Man : Looks pretty well built, then again Gauche had stock to practice with so he has solid bases as a DSL builder. However, it looks... strange ? Doesn't appear invertible, but it may be just an invertible wedge...

Ear Worm : A strange wammer-shaped chicken drill. Still, as far as chicken drills go, this one is quite good. Will depend on wedge.

5x: ...What. Normally I like hybrids, but sloppy ones like that are not going to go far. Also it's s l o w, which is not good for a gut ripper.

lol yeah, I'm also feeling the product won't be as good as advertised.

Then again, it was kinda my fault to get within the hype and not criticize everything logically ?

We'll see how the game works. Right now the building seems superior - at least we won't have to rebuild the chassis 48 times and more importantly we can rebuild it while the components are being put. Also, rule of seven seems to be no longer a thing, and ra3 seems to have superior component options.

If if flops, we have modded RA2/DSL/IF, which is definitely a good game. Especially with rule of seven now out of the way.

You mean DSL3, nar?

That wheel setup is just... bizarre. I'd try to get some front stabilizers instead of the doubled wheels.

Whoops. I meant the latest version of DSL, yes.

Yeah cause DSL 2.2 doesn't exist apparently.

that was not a helpful post

You solved the drive motor problem but there is still a major issue with wasted space inside the bot. Also ant batteries are better than Battlepacks.

Not in DSL2.2.

Why just rammers? Won't that be hugely boring?

On the contrary. Rammers only, rammer hybrids allowed for SOME variation, require at least a certain amount of weight invested in drive so all bots are at least semi-fast.

Will make for much better matches than two shell spinners. Or two popups.

Not bad. You should clean it up a bit, I feel, so the plates are less irregular.

I think I've cracked the code.

Since WXL can only communicate through poorly made MS paint images, broken english and undertale memes, that would also be the only way to give him advice.

(Image removed from quote.)

Hopefully this will get the message through to him.

i think you forgot some random pokemon images and this inside out thingy

Anyways, BAD drive motors:

-Piglet
-TWM3R (weapon version only), TWM3R2
-The Etek WITHOUT a gearbox on it
-All Perms
-4 magmotor gearbox and 6 magmotor gearbox
What is 4 magmotor gearbox and 6 magmotor gearbox

the gearbox with 4 and 6 magmotors ? Magmotors are the small, compact black-and-white motors.
