Existing Games / Re: Robot Rage
« on: March 24, 2013, 11:11:45 AM »
You're right that the previous Robot rage had more bugs than gameplay but still had something that I really liked in it.

Bite is definitely a winner in armor. It can take a serious beating. Its Ram weapon at Level 4 destroys an unupgraded Crash chassis with 4 hits without interference of other weapons! I didn't test the Wrecker yet, though.
The only great problem with Bite is that it tilts slightly when moving forward and if carrying rockets, they will all miss their target. To make a hit the bot needs to be still.

All the guest players are great cannon fodder, lol. Easy cash.
Maybe, but I'll be honest- I gave up after everyone I fought against had Razor Discs. With only the basic mobility options, you'd have an easier time standing outside and dodging raindrops in a thunderstorm than trying to avoid them.

As for the Wrecker chassis, modelled here by Colonel Kickass-

Very good in the way of Armour and Traction, and with the sufficient upgrades, can move as fast as a Crash chassis- a very good thing to have. It's allowed to use some pretty awesome weaponry too, including a Soundwave Generator that can generate pushy sonic booms (Soundwave superior, Missiles inferior), an Air Strike, and a rack of rear Spikes with Grenades on them, which blow up on contact with opponents. I've gone with the latter two, along with a LV4 Sledgehammer and a rather kickass LV4 Flamethrower.

But yes, I can definitely agree with you there- if there's one thing I can't stand however, it's opponents who base their strategies entirely around lobbing missiles and running away. That pisses me off to no end.

I confess that I also got stuck into it, lol.
But I think it's too easy to upgrade your bot, compared to the other Robot Rage.
I've unlocked the Bite bot and I'm killing everything and everyone with it. It gets kind of boring at some point
Personally, I'm quite liking the rate at which you upgrade- in the previous Robot Rage, it was too hard to do so, especially with aspects such as the Walkover rule, getting pinned to your opponent after a collision, everyone using Razor Discs, and matches devolving into battery power-based games of Tag.

As for the Bite chassis, am I the only one who thinks it looks a bit overrated? I'm personally sticking to upgrading Colonel Kickass to its maximum potential first, then I might consider it afterwards.

A replica texture edit: Bulldog Breed's 2012 return.

Awesomeness. Think you could provide the files for it, if it's alright?

I like it too, I spent hours on it last night. It's got what RA2 can never have. Fun multiplayer with unpredictable opponents (eg not AI). The customization and upgrades side is cool, and the way they're actually trying to balance all the parts with money and stuff is awesome.
Indeed- I think I'm going the same way.  XD

I'm doing quite well with my current robot, Colonel Kickass- it's got a Wrecker Chassis with boosted speed and handling, a LV3 Flamethrower, Sledgehammer, Air Strike and Fender Bombs. Nothing quite like the sugar-sweet kiss of Napalm and heavy Ordnance to torch a few cowards alive.   :P

Modifications / Re: New Robot Wars Arena (In Progress!)
« on: March 23, 2013, 01:07:41 PM »
Well all it would take is one click of the scale button and I can enlarge it if needs be :P (or shrink it for the Ants ;) )
Ah, that's alright then- it just needs to be fairly bigger, so that it's about the same size of the real one in terms of scale. Once that's sorted out though, it'll be more or less perfect so far.   :claping

Seriously though, as for my view on it- although it's obviously not up to RA2 standards, I'd say it's a major improvement on the original in terms of gameplay, and I do actually quite like it.

There, I said it.

GF, if you look at a later post you'll see he added the angle grinders XD
Crap, sorry about that.  XD

But yes, it's all looking very, very good so far- especially with the addition of the back wall. It could definitely be a little bigger though, that's my only concern.

Hey guys :)

Well, i've decided to make a start on a new Robot Wars arena :P (I've managed to 90% perfect the ase to gmf convert method, so I thought i'd give this a try! :3)

Here is the new mesh at the moment,

(Image removed from quote.)

So, as you can see, so far most of the textures are sorted out, main floor is done, pit and floor flipper done, and the new tire :P

The skins are from the RW:ED game arena (I found the thread :P)

The 2 Dantomkia's are also my reference bots :P (They are roughly the same size as an ordinary DSL heavy)

Once the arena mesh is finished, then i'll give a try at turning it into a full arena :P (Which is kinda why I started this thread... incase I run into any difficulty xD)

If anyone wants to try having a go at converting it then feel free to ask for the mesh! I feel more confident at meshing and skinning than all that techinical .py and gmf stuff haha :')

Anyway, opinions and feedback? :)

Fantastic! I love the look of it so far, especially the Pit and the Flipper. My only concerns are that it's a little bit small, and that the arena wall grinders are missing- but for very early on into the project, that's marvellous.    :approve:

Ah come on, in the original RA1 a collision meant you were stuck against the opponent for a minute..

Hmm, haven't been on Miniclip since the era of Heli Attack 2, actually. I'll give it a try, and I'll see what I think. The original sucked, so hopefully it might be decent if they've tweaked it.

I shouted "F**k your son!!!"  In fact why stop there? F**k Chris Jericho, f**k the color commentator with his "unofficial scoreard," f**k confessionals, f**k country boy, f**k Medieval for failing to knock out the Steampunk stlut, f**k SighFy, f**k Real Steel, f**k George Lucas' daughter, f**k the time wasting MMA trainer from the first half, and f**k.  This.  Show.
Can I add f**k Crash and f**k that arrogant tart behind it to the list?

1. Yojimbo
2. Seven Samurai
3. Sin City
4. Princess Mononoke
5. LOTR : The Two Towers
6. The Dictator
7. Monty Python's Holy Grail
8. Beowulf
9. Braveheart
10. Shrek 2

I'm not a film-watcher, at least not a lot.
I need to see the first 3. Not a fan of borat so 6 isn't of interest and I've seen the rest.
I mean Charlie Chaplin's The Dictator. It's hilariously funny.
The Great Dictator? I've been meaning to see that one, actually.

Spawn of Scutter was probably the closest thing to an IRL popup, with a single spike at a 45 degree angle.
Yes- using high pressure and a hardened tip, it proved very good for flipping opponents. Mind you, I could try something like for ARC...

Dude, i didn't know.

Are you absolutely sure about that? Seems directly lifted from my parodies, as was the use of Metal Man and Hard Man. In fact, I could go as far to say that it appears to be powered by batteries of pure plagiarism!
