We need to assign more moderators and advanced users.
We also have some new veterans, I think...

Hey guys, with Kill's recent departure I feel like it might be finally time for this thread.
With what's left of this niche community I was wondering if there was anything you guys would like to see going forward into the future.
Examples include: -Subforums for certain popular/unique tournament series Ex: Orc Wars, GTMCS, NOVA, etc -An actual attempt to finish DSL 3 -Tourney signups listed on the front page
Please feel free to comment anything you come up with yourselves as well.
As I expressed before in that happy new years topic, thank you to all of you who have kept this forum alive for the past 10+ years. While this forum will never be as active as it once was with how most of us who were the enthusiastic kids that grew up when Battlebots, Robot Wars, and Robotica where at their peak back in the early 2000s have grown up and moved onto other things than a bargain bin game from 2003. Along with how forums themselves have becoming increasingly phased out due to things such as Discord/Skype/Reddit/Etc, the fact this place still has active members is pretty amazing. I'd like to see GTM host a yearly IRL battlebots competition. Another thing I'd like to see- DSL 2.3 completed.

Just saying that #1 is not a Wandering spinner
Oh, it is. It drives straight (eventually), bounces off walls, and falls under the classification of a Drum/disk WS.
Iirc you stated in your "tutorial" that WS must have only one motor, this bot beats that purpose
Okay. Here are the rules. there are 2 WS categories. Basic> have one wheel > sport a shell, full-body, or cage spinner. > no more than 1 drive motor. > mainly have 1-4 spinners. Drum/disk> have disks or drums for drive > have 1-6 drum wheels > have more than 1 drive motor. > FS Wandering Spinners can exist in this class. > have 1-6 or more spinners

Overall, I love this AI pack after a thorough play through last night. There are a few AI bugs here and there, but overall I have very few complaints.
Offers for improvements:
1) Updated UI to give it a more sleek look. It is supposed to be a "restocked" version of the game, after all. 2) Something to replace the mindless HS bots (BEAR, LugNut, Tornado) with some designs that carry a bit more authenticity and feel. 3) There are a few bots I find to be on the weaker side, or a few that could use a slight tweak here or there. Ill keep a running list of these as I play more. Iceberg comes to mind, but that has always been a difficult rebuild.
anyways, love the AI pack, I recommend that everyone try it out. cheers.
UI is a major input for an AI pack. It gives an AI pack a distinctive "feel" to it.

Not bad, but it doesn't look stable.

It's certainly closer to IRL than your last one, but it's still not quite there. The axle of your weapon motor needs to be fully supported by the extenders. You may need the Component Freedom mod to do this, but it's pretty much universally legal in IRL building so there's no issue there (just remember to turn it off again when you're building Standard or Unrealistic bots)
Again, I don't get why you don't just give it wheels. I'm aware I'm probably wasting my breath but you'd gain so much by having full controlled movement, and it's not even like you're saving weight in this configuration. Those drums probably weigh as much if not more than proper wheels. The setup you have here really is a lose-lose.
You also once AGAIN have too much battery. You can ditch 1 of the black batts and still have enough power for 3 motors easily.
I tried that. It's the same question of- How do you get the chain motor to stick out of the chassis? Every time I do that, it turns red, and I can't place it.
You need the component freedom mod, like I said.
This WS actually does sufficiently well on drums. It bounces off the walls with ease, and will drive forward...eventually...
Pretty sure it would do better on wheels my dude. People use them for a reason
I tried wheels on a drum WS. They only work on some. Most of them just get stuck. I have CF, but I don't see it when I play DSL. Do I just select the "RA2 (component freedom)" application instead of the basic "RA2" application? Just a heads-up, I'm on a WS building spri.

Well, I guess since most of you don't find the No Mind Devastation tournament to be one you don't want to compete in, I'll host it myself, and post results here. Statistics> all WS are built in Stock Unrealistic, DSL IRL, or Ironforge IRL. > No cheat components are used. > The WS are from ALL weight classes. > Interested in joining? PM me so I can host a public WS tournament again. > I will use different arenas, but mainly the Robot Wars, combat, and DSL tournament arenas. > There will be rumbles, team-ups, and deathmatches. > I will post updates on how the fights wind up.

Did you raise the control board up in my old entrant so it's out of the way of the spinner? that should fix it.

Building a MW IRL WSI. Chassis designed as shown. Armor is 1 mm. Steel. II. NOTE- the disks are there to just keep track of weight. They will be replaced later. This design uses 2 long batteries and an antweight battery. III. Now, to make the bot IRL. Add aluminum square extenders however you like. I made a triangular frame out of them. The disk has small typhoon teeth on it. IV. Add a small panel to the underside of the bot to keep it from being annihilated by popups. Now, add top armor. V. Remove the disks, and replace them with large drums. These will be the wheels. I added antweight blades to protect the drums. VI. WIRING- Left motor rotates counterclockwise, right motor and weapon motor rotate clockwise. VII. DONE!

Now, why would he leave GTM?

Wandering Spinners are unique, and many bot builders have a taste for bots other than WS.
Again, many people come to GTM for ideas and downloads, especially people new to RA2, so I don't think it's a bad idea...

you don't need to post 4 images per bot. it's not giving us more information or insight
it's just more images that everyone's connection has to load
Okay, what about all the people that are new to DSL? New WS pack out!
