DSL TC Showcases / Re: RedAce's DSL Network

An excellent set of reps(?) of the original bots. Most fit the original intent well without going to far from being IRL. Only suggestion would beTopknot could possibly be redone as a turreted axe, to get closer to the original  "axes all around" idea of the original.and I can agree with not using the IRL Pack parts. I do have an idea but the end result may not equal the work put in to implement it.

I do love the AW and BW refreshes too. I have a lot of difficulty making the lighter weightclasses so i'll be eager to look around and see how these have been done.

Great work all around though.

Regarding attachment points, I think Kerbal Space Program has a decent builder which may be applicable to this game. There are attach points that are pre-defined on certain items, where you can only attach AP to AP. i.e a wheel onto a motor's axle. But also allowing other parts to snap freely onto a surface or part. i.e a tooth on a bar/disc for weapons, skirts on bodywork. It also has options for symmetry, precise snapping to a surface, translation and rotation tools as well, which I think would work well for a bot builder, in comparison to RA2 which is closer to LEGO-style building.

It would be nice to have defined weightclasses as well, but not have the limits, or the number of weightclasses be a set, unchangeable value.

I like the idea of the pneumatic system having its own individual components. it feels like those parts could be adapted to serve in a similar fashion in crusher/hydraulic systems as well.

Before any of the finals though, I think everyone involved or who's watched owes thanks to Doot for running this huge tournament. Lost count of how many videos there are but they've all been consistently well edited and presented, and updates have been on the regular. So thank you for organising and running the biggest and best tournament of 2017.

PAINDEER! A Growler-style rambot to remind you what happens when you end up on the naughty list. Here's some larger splash images to enjoy.

Side angle showing the head does close to clamp down on stuff, and then it barfing out fire.

Rar views and internal shots. It's packed with 5 Medium air tanks so it wouldn't need to solely rely on any enternalflame cheapness. Same with the battery power, enough to keep it moving and doing it's thing.

Early on in the build process it could also do tricks. Nowadays it just overbalances straight onto it's back, the side-effect of being a fatboi.
So that is Paindeer! Ty to those who voted to make this my third BOTM victory in a row. However I did also have a entry idea that after some consideration, I did not enter...

And let me be the first to address the elephant in the room. It's quite hard to ignore it, so lemme say outright:

I edited the glow on the nose. :( It may have been too risky to enter something that was graphically changed after the fact. Even with the antlers to distract I figured it'd be too controversial to enter this into BOTM. Can't say there was any other reason to not enter this. ;)

Contests / Re: Vote BOTM DEC 2017

Thank you to everyone who voted this month, and thank you especially to PrimevalMamba for being the only other entrant, which is a shame. I genuinely like the presents and the layout of the tree, I tried to do something similar for last December's BOTM but never finished it in time. But I think your last two BOTM entries have been great.

  • Make sure that there are 6 bots in the team folder.
  • Make sure those bots have their bindings added to the Bindings.py file.
  • Make sure none of the 'bot0-5.bot' files aren't capitalised.

Hey, this is really nice looking. My only bug bear is that the five prongs seem a bit too long for me

I tend to agree with Kurt on the length of the prongs. And also it being a nice looking bot, I rather like the shade of blue. Not sure about the spike strips as they seem a little like an afterthought.

Would enter something as well.
