> IRL > no BFE that's some high IQ sh** right there. I hope none of you wanted to use extenderbots xd
Considering what TheRoboteer believes in RA2 building honestly, well.
Anyway, going to send now
Except it was Code Red that asked for it, not me. Plus, most of my extenderbots don't use BFE anyway

Ok then, will I have to send the AI to the host?
You down for the challenge then? Should I make the thread or do you want to?

Most hosts can AI for you, but if you want to do your own custom AI you can send that too.

Sure, only BFE chassis height tho
Sure thing. I wasn't intending to use BFE myself anyway.

Anyone up for a DSL HW IRL challenge?
How does Robogames Arena, CB2 banned, BFE and CF allowed sound to you?

Logo is created.
Also I made a small change to the DSC parts rule. Yes, they are allowed, but I will create a crash patch for them, so be warned, entrants using the listed components might be slightly altered for the tournament. I'll even upload a crash patch once I get a good chance to. Once I exit midterms week, I should be able to work on this, and maybe get this in signups.
Sweet man. Appreciate all the effort you're putting into this

cool, i like the shape
Thanks man. Was knocked together fairly quickly and is something of a proof of concept just to see how a true lifter will fare in a PvP scenario but I think it came out looking okay. Will be interested to see how it fares in the next Parsec thing.

Not made by me, but very important for DSL-IRL RA2 Parsec tourney. The head of the Roblox robot combat server, Sevalent, decided to start an IRL RA2 Parsec tourney. Since he is too lazy here, I will drop the link instead with authorization from him:
Was a really fun tournament. Surprisingly little crashing and the fights were excellent for the most part. Definitely better than the fights you see out of the AI pretty much across the board. Will certainly be looking forward to future runs of it as well as seeing how the PvP meta for IRL develops.

Knocked together a bot for IRL parsec stuff after some of the recent dabbling with it that's been going on. Wanted to build something that takes advantage of it not needing AI so I of course went back to my good old pal the razer motor lifter. Here's a new one with 220kg of ballast on the flipper so it should have no trouble lifting HWs. It's mostly just an experiment to see how this kind of thing will fare but here's hoping it will at least be interesting to watch. Drive is NPC fasts, srimech is a small VDMA, armour is steel and Ti frontally, Alu everywhere else.

Pretty ambitious starting with an extenderbot as your first showcased bot. You've got the components placed fairly compactly and you're using the right components for the right jobs for the most part (no cardinal sins like using piglets for drive or anything), but at the same time, I'm gonna be honest, I thought it was unfinished in the first screenshot because of how exposed all the internals were. I'd recommend starting out with chassis bots for a newer builder to be honest, and then move on to extenderbots once you have a good understanding of those. Not a bad start, but you have to walk before you can run. Also on another note, don't want to backseat moderate here but it's generally a good idea to just make 1 post with multiple images rather than having a separate post for each image. Just makes reading easier for people and stops the recent posts feed from getting spammed. You can also learn how to insert images properly here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/site-news-and-feedback/how-to-use-insert-attachment/

Thanks for another great series Orc! The different format was a nice change of pace over the first 2 series. Pretty dismal performances from me across the board but hopefully I'll be back stronger as a result of what I've learned from this series. Thanks again for all the time you put into this

Didn’t expect it to look better wider
It looks really great, but the top panels being slightly unaligned is a little frustrating
The flipper panels? Yeah I messed up with setting the burst initially. Rest assured it's fixed now and they're perfectly even.

The march of the iterative improvements to Sabre continues. You guys are probably bored to death of this bot by now but I don't care Had been playing around with the prospect of making Sabre slightly wider in order to fit 2 bursts instead of 1 in for a while now, and I finally decided to take the plunge. I'd been really worried that it would lose the sleek aesthetic that is the reason I love it so much, but with the 20cm width increase I think it's retained the sleek look while also gaining some competitiveness. Weapon motor has gone from 1 storm front hinge to 2 VDMA front hinges, which do a pretty good job power wise. They've also allowed me to make the bottom section of the flipper steel instead of Alu without losing a huge amount of power, which should hopefully prevent a repeat of what happened in OWO with the flipper coming off way too easily.

Day 8's theme is "Star". I've wanted to make a Nightmare-style VS for a while, so I took the opportunity. Had to do the splash image slightly differently as a result.

Sadly it doesn't actually work properly, it constantly pulls to the left and ends up spinning in circles. It's not as clean-looking as it could be, either, I ran out of time and weight to make the extenderwork look better (though maybe I should drop some of it down from Steel to Ti...)
Looks pretty neat, although how exposed the drive motors are does irk me somewhat. In terms of your turning issue try rotating the wheels before you attach them to the axle. Normally fixes that kind of thing.

Made some changes to hopefully clean up the front a bit, and also added some wedgelets to help feed stuff into the drum

Cool! I like how the wheel guards are made.
Thanks. Pretty happy with how the sides + wheelguard area came out myself too. I still think the front could use some work though. Been playing around in my head with how to make it look cleaner.
