I got minecraft yesterday.
Got some gold ore, then I dug some more, then lava killed me, and I lost my stuff.
Count yourself lucky that you didn't have diamond. Besides, gold is pretty useless in terms of tools/armour.

I miss the old days of quality obbys and tycoons and destruction derbys D:
'Quality Obbies' lolno. 'Quality Tycoons' Back in the day there were some real inventive tycoons, not just buttons next to a conveyor. 'Destruction Derby' That was a great game. =D Although I guess the war games have gotten better, even though I never play them -_-

Try adjusting your FOV. Sometimes high FOV causes headaches and motion sickness.
