madman3 is already in a challenge with GavintheGreat.
I think it's worth cancelling, since Garvin hasn't posted a bot yet. If he doesn't post it in the next two days, can we cancel?

You might want to delete that else ACAMS is going to have your neck.
And geez, I wake up and find that the whole TX thing escalated far further than it should have. But no matter, on with stuff.

Well I think Panic Attack is better than Chaos2. Now im not gonna lie Chaos2 is a great bot and is the Robot Wars Champion of all time, He has one more series than anyone(excluding world championships, thus it would be Razer) But Panic Attack has a better driver. And besides Chaos2 was never my favorite flipper. I alwayes liked Bigger Brother. Not only is the bot a good bot(almost defated Razer in the Series 5 Final) But the fact that the team is partly driven by kids is pretty cool.
Yes- Kim Davis was definitely one of the best drivers in the series. Although on the contrary, George's driving skills were also very good- that was a winning combination with a great little robot that was still a real contender several years after its first major appearance.
Still think that Tony Somerfield of Bulldog Breed was the best driver.

We all know he cheated and lets leave it at that.

Don't be stupid.

Voted PA.
Well if you want to start a big flame war like last time, I can just give the O.K.
Just give it a rest

Not a bad idea, but I voted PA just because it kicks ass.
On the contrary, I was the one who voted for Chaos 2. Not only does it kick ass even to this day, but it was the first robot to put an opponent out of the arena, and it was the only UK entrant to successfully defend its title.

You jelly, Typhoon?  :trollface
Eh, Chaos ended up getting no further than a weakened Panic Attack in S6. I think they doomed themselves as soon as they used the full pressure flipper.
I think the main problem with that particular system was that the CO2 kept freezing in the pipes, preventing it from working properly half the time. Nevertheless, when the full-pressure flipper did work, it was a joy to behold- just look at its Heat in Series 5, and you'll see why.
Hardly special, Thermidor had a better flipper and design.
On the other hand, at least Chaos 2 never failed to get to the Heat Finals   :approve:
Ah, but Thermidor got into the same number of semis in it's existence, had more success in Extreme, and it's only heat loss was against a bot that later got ripped off from it's chance in the semis by the decidedly average series 5 Wild Thing. Go figure.
Suppose you do have a point about Extreme. But then again, Chaos 2's losses there were mainly down to bad luck and House Robot intervention, namely Refbot knocking Tornado off the wall in the All-Star Tournament, and Matilda knocking Chaos 2 against the wall in the Flipper Frenzy.
Wait a moment,

Notice how WT's disc stopped moving at the end? Controversial match is controversial.

Off-Topic Discussion / Studio Ghibli
« on: May 28, 2011, 03:54:31 PM »
Studio Ghibli is pretty much the only anime producer that doesn't drive me to extreme boredom. With several popular films like Spirited away and Howl's Moving Castle they're pretty much the main anime film producer of today, even though most of their films are older than I am!

So, here's my list of my favourite Ghibli films:

1. Princess Mononoke - Better plot than the others, with a great deal more action and easily the best monsters in Ghibli's history. Generally a very cool film with a decent script and it is pretty emotional. Occasionally cheesy lines but some really great ones too;
"Tastes like super-donkey piss."
Made by who I consider easily the best Ghibli animator, Hayao Miyazaki, who generally produces the more tight and action packed films.

2. Laputa-Castles In The Sky - another Miyazaki film, this one has more or less the same plus sides; good plot, great villains, very aesthetically pleasing, and some really great Steampunk machines. Only problem is that the dubbing makes a boy of 15 sound like a 32 year old pedophile.

3. Howl's Moving Castle - Based off a good book by Diana Wyn Jones (though barely faithful to it), this Miyazaki film has more of those awesome Steampunk machines, easily the best script ("What a pretty fire!") and some of the better plot points. It lacks some of the tightness of the previous two, though, and the plot doesn't really seem all that well played out.

4. Nausica Of The Valley Of The Wind - Yes, another Miyazaki. Featuring a rather easy to grasp plot and some of the best creatures of the series, it gets a nice spot here at fourth. Looks very pretty too.

5. Spirited Away - Generic option and the best known Ghibli film, it does however feature a very strong plot and characters, but less of the sinister feel of Mononoke and worse characters than Laputa. Slightly more of a feelgood film, but it doesn't appeal to much to me anymore. Still a good watch, though.

6. Grave Of The Fireflies - Depressing but a very good film otherwise. Not really my thing though.

7. My Neighbour Totoro - Very much a feelgood film, it has makes the subject of a dead parent seem almost joyful. Tonnes of charm, but also tonnes of problems, with some poor lines and some slightly childish themes that get in the way.

8. Porco Rosso - Featuring the almightly pig pilot, this makes tonnes of logical sense, plot-wise, and has some very memorable characters. However, it isn't all that inspiring, and the majority of the films strengths are occasionally lacking.

9. Kikki's Delivery Service - See the above but with witches instead of pigs.

10. Ponyo - Oooooo, this had potential. Great characters but the plot was seriously tedious.

Feel free to comment or post your own lists.

I think GTM has already much drama.. ^^'
You are usually responsible, but Gar Samuelson has been a major cause recently.
Isnt Gar Samulson a singer or somthing.
No, he's a dead metal drummer.
You mean Death Metal Drummer.BTW I dont know if my name is an insult or not but if im a Death Matal Drummer, Its fine by me.
No, he's not a death metal drummer, he is a dead metal drummer.
He himself is dead.
For decades, he has been like that, dead.

Wait, gars vs lars?!?!?!?
Oh, i wonder who would win that battle
Back in the day Gars would have kicked his ass.
Neither are as good as Charlie, though.
