One problem with online tournaments is the fact that, if someone outside the fight presses a key, it's untraceable. Then limit the number of people who can physically press keys
Try up-voting Mouldy's suggestion as much as you can oof
Not to mention that people won't have freedom of choice when it comes to controls. If two guys, let's even say in the finals, have the exact same control set-up, one of them has to bite the bullet and use something they're not used to. If that person ends up losing, how can we tell if it was because of that or not? Most robots are versatile with controls. If I'm wrong and it's just my robots that can have multiple schemes, then my controls can be changed by the organizer before others.

So are these tournaments being attempted in one go? I would assume that for longer or more important events it would a better idea to hold the matches within a timing window (one week, ten days, ect.), in order to make sure people don't have to choose between RA2 or life.
No no- we were able to hold ours in one day because of the amount of people. If you've got a larger tournement then yes, you can have matches whenever it is specified (as long as it fits in with the current tournement rules I assume).
i agree with that, we should be able to arrange fights when it's feasible for us
that being said, we can usually bang out gmod tournaments on a saturday afternoon so theres no reason why we couldnt on ra2
That is valid. I only asked because I remember the official RA2 tournaments held matches based on the players' timing. Of course, those were a big deal at the time and so I guess casual events can just take place in a day without trouble.

Match #1: I expected it and it was very boring. Match #2: IDK who was gonna win and the match was tight. Match #3: Wow, that popup is scrappy. The first round was too close. Match #4: Intentional SFTW wannabee loses to an actual robot, next. Match #5: Kek that was fast. Match #6: Scarlet Fever can fight when it isn't losing weapons. Match #7: The battle of the robot that cannot move. I hope not to fight Mystic at all in the tourney. Match #8: Expected. Match #9: I sleep. Match #10: I sleep. Match #11: I'm awake. I wonder what damage Panthera could have done with 3 irons. Match #12: Jamied's robot seems to like having quick stock matches and it looks like his next one will be a big "L." Match #13: Hooray, Orc won a match. I'm a happy guy. Match #14: Hooray, Kill won a match. I'm a happy guy. Match #15: Another multibot died. Match #16: The multibot meme apparently means having long matches that are impossible to win.

I hope it's not too late for me. I have an entry that will roll a fair amount of heads.

So how is it meant to work? It runs into the opponent and the flail arms kinda swing round under their own momentum?
Yup and they swing fast in the garage too. It would probably work better with a plow like the AWs (I guess).

interesting idea, kind of like an antweight but on steroids
how well does it work?
I didn't test this robot on anything. I got caught up in HS building and put this project on hold.

I do like that flamethrower flying guillotine style bot, however, wish there was a way to make it competitive. hell, maybe it works against popups ? and by burning the drive out you get immobilizations ?
I probabaly could have WBP against my first opponent in the GTMCS but I was not feeling it with that robot. ------ This was a 7th option I had for the GTMCS (I tired to make like 15-18 robots) 245.5, DSA I bet it wouldn't have done well.

Really happy to see all the rookies competing. Hello, I would like to earn my elderly assistance badge, do you need help in crossing the street? The stock designs have a great throwback feel lol. """""""""""""""throwback feel"""""""""""""""

The match was more fun than I expected. I can't wait to sink my teeth into losing my only match in the loser's bracket. I've always had interest in rankings, so here's the formula without the coding in it: (W/(L+4))*10+(KO/10)+(TKO/100)+(WBP/1000) Hmm math. AKA maths because us Americans somehow took the "s" from "maths" and placed it on the end of "sport."

Well, now I get to lose to the alleged forum noob in the LB. Speaking of the LB, will that take place after R2 or later?

With a lot of champs and veteran robots in this tournament, this IRL Stock LW division could end up being one of the best, not just on the quality of builds, but the combat side of it as well. 1. Well, that was predictable. 2. Ditto. 3. 4. Wow, Toybox has no movement. Tough luck, d00t. 5. It's not a rammer, it's a goring device. It's also not a nutting device because no newbie is going to want to learn how to build a nutting device. 6. Ah stupid me, it was Italian symbolism on Boto's entry. 7. I'm not scared. I'm not scared. I'm not scared. 8. Trio. 9. That has happened to T shapes against HS many times over the years. Both robots gave the old college try. 10. Bad luck Mystic. Why does anyone put his or her motors upfront like this? Why did multiple in one event? 11. Don't feel bad, PrimevalBrony. Alter Ego 2 has done that in three tournaments now. 12. Can Weapon Bucket run the loser's bracket? Yes. No. 13. We just saw this match and it was better before. 14. A good test for our old pal, "butt," who won in a good fashion. 15. The HS was faster than the popup! 16. Pokemon music? Oh, and Quarto. Looking forward to: Stock enthusiast vs. IRL enthusiast

Close match. Now I get to lose to John and his chad builder. Lagoon: This robot reeks of DSL 2.1 building as well. Not bad by any means, but its bad wedging ability will be a problem for something that requires the wedge to be used. Pretty sure my design wasn't attempted after 2008 for anything good. 100% right about its chances though.

It legit lost to the worst stock bot in 10 years. This is a pity because now SFTW awards can't be renamed.

My Match: It was just a wedge :/ I did NOT like that small havok, especially since my plow set-up could get my front lip chipped in the next fight. Second Stock Bot just lost to a robot worse than Tornado Jr. of BBEANS 3. Second Stock Bot just lost to a robot worse than SFTW. Pick vs. 9,000,001 was a good fight. Now I get to beat ty4er, assuming Serenity is stable like she was in issues 7-10, rather than in issue 1.
