Well, I've taken the plunge. My robot, Kurt Rambis, is now in the Robot Exchange. Go, see my crappy design and LAUGH!

Toe Crusher was the worst hammer ever.  It's a torque-reaction hammer, but there's no delay between between the hammer firing and the robot moving backwards. It's virtually incapable of hitting an oppoent, even if the opponent is standing still. But what really gets my goat is that it was a sponsor-bot; Christian Carslberg got a big check from Wizards of the Coast to build his robots, and this is the best he could do?

Considering he created it back in '98 or '99 (and thus was before Wizards' sponsorship), I would say no. Of course, he could have made it better, but methinks that's exactly what he was wanting to do.

It has a alum sheet now though

You're making ME happy. Fairly certain my robot could just ram into your box and disable it all in a heartbeat.

Also, as I found out, those 30kg titanium side pieces just aren't that good. You'd be better off using a medium or large ski or something to that extent to protect the wheels.

TriTon, is this your robot?

If so, ouch.

Awesome comic. I'll watch it soon. I hope Nic Cage didn't ruin the movie.

He didn't. Movie was rather good, all things said. I'm happy that I broke my near 3 year hiatus from movie theaters for this one.

(note: the last movie I seen in theaters was The Simpsons Movie on its second weekend back in June of '07)

Can I be that 4th "noob" so I can rip you all to shreds with my first new stock 'bot in about 18 months?

I voted for DSL since... well... I don't have a single stock bot to my credit anymore. I think I've deleted all of those pictures from my Photobucket, and the place where I originally posted them is perma-closed.

I'm happy this thing's absolutely kicking off to a great start (at least with the # of entries). It means that my ass will be kicked by about 55-62 of them. Whee-hee lowered expectations!

Bot sent, hopefully with AI. Chances I wind up 0-2... high.

One piece of general advice (and something that other users have got on me for): Change your picture format to either a .PNG or .JPG. Those with lower speed connections can't process the MB+ pictures nearly as well as others.

I don't believe I actually agree with someone here. I absolutely effing HATE Spaz and its builder. If it wasn't for dumb luck in the semi-final of 2.0 vs. Bad Attitude, it never would've won the Middleweight Championship.

For those that were at RFSHQ a year or two back, you've seen my tirade against the builder Mike Regan. I don't want to relive it.

Also, not exactly under "bots I don't like" but rather "bots that could have been so much more": Drillzilla from Extreme 1. Even though the robot was 352 lbs (132 lbs heavier than the British competitors), all it had for weapons were two dinky little extensions from the sides of the robot and a drill that didn't work well in the back. In all honesty, if it had a much better weapon set-up, it would have won more matches than it did.

I've got my final design ready to go and AI'ed.

Here it is, Kurt Rambis:

Largely the same from the last post in my DSL thread, except for the 2 Iron Spikes added on to the sides for some extra damage and protection and the downgrade to Titanium 5 armor.

Also, Happy Birthday Sage.

Now, for an update on Kurt Rambis:

New outer:

New inner:

Upgrades:
-Reduced chassis size exponentially by getting rid of odd angle chassis
-Changed Aluminum extenders connecting to wheels for 20x80 DSL Bar
-Downgraded drive to TWM Drive Edition (having problems with upgrading to NPC's since they don't want to connect properly to the bar)
-Upgraded armor to Tite 10 (OOOOOOOOOOOOOVERKILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!)

Obviously, I need to upgrade my drive and possibly downgrade the armor. Any suggestions on how to do both?

Why are you building vertically here ? That's pointless efficiency-wise and weight-wise.

Excellent choice of weapon extender work, however.

Trying for a "off the beaten path" design, to be perfectly honest.

and it`s german :D

Germany's a big hub for electrical engineering, so I'm not surprised in the slightest that it comes from there.

Sorry I haven't been on as of late. For your troubles, here's a new robot that's bound to be a pet project of mine. Gentleman, Kurt Rambis:

The innards:

The stats:
-Plastic 3 Armor
-NPC T-64 motors with 2 Vlads
-6 Iron Spikes on 2 Skirt Hinges
-2 Ant Batteries
-2 Baseplate Anchors (having some issues with getting multi-extenders to do their job)
-2 80cm Aluminum Extenders

I admit, there's a boatload of open room and not much in the way of weaponry, but this is a 1st draft. So, any advice on making the unsung hero of the '80s LA Lakers into a meaner, leaner fighting machine?

Definitely interested in this, and I have a robot (or three) ready to go for this. Now to go choose which one I want...
