Just a quick housekeeping tip to go along with their advice, it's pretty cool if you can crop your screenshots down when you save them as a png - we've all seen the botlab many times :P
And to answer your questions, skirt hinges are used like burst motors, except they won't flip/move, they are set as bursts so that you can move them to your desired position - there's no need to wire them.
As for tournaments, check out whatever's in Multi-Entry Signups and Discussion right now - there may be something around you wish to enter :)
2-Hammer: Because it pounds the enemies into submission *snicker* Nah. More seriously, no one will doubt the size of your balls if you enter a hammer into a tournament. 4-VS: The king of unstability, also of damage. More risks to kill your enemy ? Yeah, that's manly.
HERE'S A BUMP LOL just because I know people have seen that last one and said nothing so I might as well.
Varying approaches on the same idea (HW version of the above) +More decorated +Dual Perm -Front wheels too far back +Thinner -Front wheels stick out too much -No room for any more decoration - hence Alu 10 -4-Mag = ABYSMAL weapon power. Ugh.
Some believe I don't build anymore, but I've been working on a few DSL3 IRL thingys, this is the first that I'm anywhere near happy with. LOL FUNNY NAME
I thought you weren't allowed to reserve people spots though?
09 is right, I don't know if it's in the rules any more as it was clarified a long time ago (I'll re-add it to the How To Host guide) but reserving spots is NOT permitted. The tournament went through a discussion phase, you had time to build - also reserved spots often had a habit of not ending up filled. But yeah, not allowed, RPJK.
EDIT: In fact, it is in the guide, albeit slightly vaguely
I don't think we have one as such, whenever I've tried it's just a LOT of trial and error until it looks right. I think Resetti has a tutorial on YouTube for his process though, try find that. Also, don't worry about that other bracket, but you can always drop it in using the 'edit' button on your post :)
EDIT: Yeah, Resetti has a 'Let's Build' series showing how he does it -

None of the above can now change as this is now a SIGNUPS TOPIC :) You have 3 months, good luck.
This year marks a 5th year milestone for both myself and one of the most popular tournaments to hit GTM, Clash Cubes. So after 2 years of absence... the cubes are coming back!!
Over the next 4 months, The 5th Anniversary Tour will hold 4 Small Tournament based events, each commemorating a respective Clash Cubes tournament in its own way then on April 18, 2014 (the exact 5th Anniversary Date) the long awaited Clash Cubes 5 will be finally opened for signups!!
No expense spared on this production, new editing platform and a new exclusive video hosting method (no most pesky youtube ad's and copyright problems)
So lets get this Party Started!
--------------------------------------------- Leg 1 - CC1 Celebration: HW Sns ---------------------------------------------
Clash Cubes 1 summed up in one word? SnSnSnS... Somebody unleashed this beast and it didnt disappoint, ripping apart every single opponent in its path and becoming a well known icon in the process, so to celebrate Clash Cubes 1 from back in 2009, this Tournament will be HW SnS.
Weight: Its going to be DSL 2.1 Heavyweight, Bots can weigh no more then 800.0kg.
Construction: Realism Rules: No part can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armour plate or chassis=OK. Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not OK. There is a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just nicks a motor or something, that's OK. Basically this rule is just intended to stop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners like you see in stock RA2.
Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.
no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy
All Robots MUST be an SnS robot type (Hybrids are permitted, such as HS)
And all Robots Chassis must be a cube shape of any size, this means a square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the higher your bot)
I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know how to AI please do, no Meltybrain stuff however, this tournament is purely FBS_1 or others that use the same base coding.
Smartzones may be used including custom ones(so long as you send along the files) however they may only be used for the purposes of AIing no other use will be excepted.
No BFE or AAM everything must be done inside the bot lab with exception to chassis skinning.
My Skirt hinge collision fix will be utilised in this tournament rendering "Narmour" useless.
Multibot/Clusterbot: Multibots or Clusterbots not allowed due to the rumble format
Format: The arena will be The Combat Zone (Same as CC1 however with a new skin) Ill do some testing and I may add some bounce to the walls too
The format will be a 12 Robot Bracket (Same as CC1) made up of 3 Rumbles and then a Final
All matches will be 3mins each.
All Entries are final given this is only a small mini tournament, so no updates or anything.. want these to move along pretty quick.
Havok's grant you a do-over the first time however more then once in the match and your robot will be removed from the rumble.
The Tour kicks off with Leg one sign ups on my own 5th Anniversary of being here! 23rd of January
--------------------------------------------- Leg 2 - CC2 Celebration: TBA ---------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------- Leg 3 - CC3 Celebration: TBA ---------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------- Leg 4 - CCIV Celebration: TBA ---------------------------------------------
The Winners of each Leg of the tour will be granted a reserved spot in CC5, Should I get less then 64 Entries (which I think is likely) They will be given the bye rounds automatically (or at least put in a draw for the bye rounds)
Hope everyone has fun as we celebrate Clash Cubes and also show the new people on here just why it was so popular
The rules above can now not change as this is a SIGNUPS TOPIC :) Enjoy!
