Aneurysm looks killer - those tribars are a great touch. I'm a bit lost on the turning issue - I assume it's not built vertically like the bot in the second picture? Also a big fan of the tank tread bot - neat idea there. I had no idea treads were so durable. and pistonbot is awesome

I'm not sure if you even noticed the Queen :P i'd worry about those icepicks though, seems like they won't do much dmg/fall off
They don't fall off and they are damaging. Just got terrible terrible normals. :) top one is cool, 12 irons made me lol very neat caster work too UNLESS YOU BFE'd IT GK I KNOW YOU
It's mostly neat but a bit on the left is 1 click out so they all are up that side. I just placed them all with the max zoom in so I could be really precise

Lil' DP: With this on the brain, I updated my BRITBONGS entry (if 09 lets me). Before it had been a serious VS, albiet one from 2011. Now it's a bit more daft.

Hey 09 are we allowed to update?

Does the disc get hit much? Not sure if you might be better off with a DSL Disc and its round shape.

Given there's that Ironforge instability/crash thread up atm it's appropriate I had this happen to me today. I was controlling a new bot against an AI'd version of Sleek from my showcase, it pinned me under the blue flame (Bridge of Doom), and then there was a particularly excellent havok. You know a havok's bad when a motor's axle gets ripped off, but see those other 2 sickles? The bot's ended up stuck inside the grey box bit of the arena: Also, another fun havok from when I pitted Sleek against my Not Mortis:

I've definitely seen inverted VS but not sure if there's been an inverted chained VS made before - please correct me if I'm wrong. It's damaging and stable, but I wanted to get some people's thoughts before I rebuilt it. Currently what I'm thinking of doing is: - Change wedge extenders to 140cm square to save weight. - Make the chassis more narrow so all of it can have caster protection, and stack the blacks. - Lengthen the chassis so HPZ's can be placed further apart, so in turn the weapons can be closer together a la Heaven's Sawmill. - If possible, make the bot's profile less steep. - Adding the missing 4 irons with saved weight. - If there's weight for it - unlikely - investigating 4WD or bottom protection.

This is very cool, Jules.
What have you build this game in?

If anybody is interested in taking part in any grudge matches/extra matches, I'll be taking requests over the next few days. I've already got a few things planned but I'm happy to film up to 6 more battles if anyone wants anything.

inb4 badnik wins again by just making another poopy sns
It certainly isn't in the spirit of the tournament, but it did technically fall within my building requirements and I wasn't allowed to change the rules. I'm going to be tighter on the definition of rebuild in any future BTTB tournaments if I ever hold any more, lesson learned.

I like this. Flipper looks cool.
I do think that the amount of wedges is a little excessive and am confused by the positioning of the ballast, but good job.
Edit: I also presume it's pretty damn fast?

My uni housemate who only knows RA2 as 'that bad game GK plays' visited me today and was persuaded to play with me, so we both made a bot and fought. While both bots are bad I was confident mine was still better. Then we fought. The flippers weren't even active.

Very jealous of your ability.
Have you checked out the tournament section? There's a couple of Ironforge ones in signups atm.

Just watched the whole episode. All 4 fights were really high quality. Ghost Raptor is genius.
Ghost Raptor is only there because the dumbass chicken sh** judges screwed Complete Control to tears!!!!!
I'm with you on that result. But Ghost Raptor was in the last 8 fight, and what it did to Icewave was very clever.

Badnik has gotten really lucky with his matches. There are a fair number of fast wedgy bots that could easily dismember his.
I think a big part of it as well is the arena - it's so big that it gets time to spin up to full speed before bots can reach it. The size is one of several issues I have with the arena now (Plus lack of collision lines, general funny collision of the walls, and a couple other things), I'm thinking of retiring it or at the very least giving it a major update after this tourney's finished.
