I didn't enter a stock bot because I thought the building standard would be as high as when Stock was at it's peak and I didn't wanna embarrass myself...
I highly regret that now! 265

Speaking as "The 2011-2013 noob", it's nothing that hasn't been done before and hasn't been done worse. Hell, look at Avalanche! He still hasn't grown up!

Robot Rumble 2.0 / Re: Robot Rumble 2.0 - Robot Combat Simulator - Under Development« on: December 23, 2017, 10:44:53 AM »
Okay, so you actually added quite a lot of my suggestions! Nice one!
![]() The only thing that doesn't seem to be added is: Ability to rip off components (I know it's possible because they fly off when you disable an opponent, but I haven't been able to rip off a single wheel or anything like that) ...But I understand your point about getting the damage system right first before adding ripping off components as a factor. Hmm... What else can I think of to add? -More Robots!!! -When I did the 4-bot rumble in the test arena, if me or my opponent died, the fight just ended instead of the remaining two fighting it out to a win. I'm guessing this is because 2+ players hasn't been properly implemented yet, and those two extra robots you added aren't recognised by the game as p3 and p4? Hmm... -Whenever either the human or the AI wins a fight, the controls get jammed and the bot just keeps on doing whatever the last input was. For example, if you were going forward when you won the fight, you'll just keep going forward and run into a wall. I think you should be able to control your robot after the fight, instead of having it taken away from you. -RUMBLE MODE!!! Select your bot, select "Rumble Mode" for the opponent bot, and then a slider shows up, that can go from 2 to 99. Yes, 100-bot rumbles. I don't care if it runs at 0.1FPS, I want it. The however-many bots are selected at random from the pool, as long as they're at the correct weight class. -Ooh, speaking of weight classes, how about adding that in next? I know right now all the bots are HW, but just labelling them as such should help when you do add MW's, LW's, FW's, AW's etc... Can't think of anything else right now, but I'm pretty sure stuff'll come to me around the same time the next update rolls around. Until then, keep up the hard work! 275

Existing Games / Re: Besiege, an Awesome New Building/Destruction Game!« on: December 10, 2017, 07:12:43 AM »i feel like that the uber-fragility of the game's engine is part of the challenge here tbh, also, braces say hello anyway Yeah, but the fragility shouldn't be enforced. In that case, they should have a speed limit, not an outright ban. Oh, so grabbers in Besiege are just like grabbers IRL, then? :P 280
Existing Games / Re: Besiege, an Awesome New Building/Destruction Game!« on: December 10, 2017, 06:57:34 AM »yes it has, in fact, me and some people in the OOTA discord have been experimenting with robot combat in it yesterday, we have came up thus far with a simple list of rules which seem to work decently enough: Weight limits sounds good, pretty much what I had in mind. Double should be allowed for walkers and 1.5x for shufflers, though. Instead of vaguely wording it like "weapon spam bots will be banned", I think it should be something along the lines of "No more than 5 active weapons". Not with you on the ballast/piston rule, it's one of the ways to get around the inherent fragility of the in-game engine. Also not with you on the grabber rule, or the saw rule. Now, onto the meat and potatoes... I made the BBEANS arena in Besiege! ![]() It's on the workshop, just search for "BBEANS Arena" and it should come up. |
