PROTIP: if you want him to get any better, just saying "oh yeah that sucks" isn't going to help at all. massimov's second peice of advice and 090901's post are true though.
the axle support is slightly off-center from the actual center of the disc, and a few angled flippermakers as motor protection would look cool.
In the end though, I don't know how to make it better. I guess, lurk in other showcases. But I try not building things like that cause there are already so many, bricks with a drum on front. You can add spikes and armor to style it but come on, really? I don't want to say, "Just don't build bots like that," cause you know, I want him to build and showcase.

Yes, it saves you weight that you can use on other componets. It is also smaller, which is good for a tighter chassis. Just cause you build IRL doesn't mean you should use crap components.

How do you get the E-tek out of the chassis like that in DSL2? I've never been quite able to do that.
I started with a big chassis and put a ME way up in it and built the rest of the insides down low. Then I BFE'ed the chassis height to where I want the final height to be. At this point the ME is floating in mid air. Then you can attach the Etek on it pointing downwards and add whatever weapons on it you want. Also I like the Fluffy spinner thingy.

Not bad. I'd bring the wedges together so you don't have a gap. Then I'd bring the wheel guards in closer aswell. Also those wedges look like they're far below where the wheels are.
