I made a giant tier 2 vehicle with 8 L1S railguns. I barely scratch the opponents.
That's your problem.  Railgun scales extremely poorly with increasing number, so 1x L2s is way better than 8x L1s.

Not that it will do anything against 600+ brown cubes, but most tier 2 isn't using 600+ brown cubes atm.

When I have time, I'll get on adapting my Ironclad for the new Robocraft.
You probably need to pick a tier before you start, depending on the amount of RP you have at hand.

If you are going for Tier 5, you need L3/L3s equipments with full orange armor
If you are going for Tier 7, you need L4/L4s equipments with full blue armor

You can also undercut your speed to get even more armor, but I won't recommend that on a hovercraft.  My guess on a good T7 hovercraft would be minimal amount of L4s pad for lift (probably 4), spam L3s thrusters for forward/backward, and L1s thrusters for turn.

but yes, you want to stay out of Tier 8 and up to avoid the fully loaded Tier 10.

wait they changed robocraft entirely? why? the old building system was easy and rather fun...
Too many people abuse the old system by bringing a single Plasma L5s to tier 3.

So they decided to "lock" component to it's intended tier using robot ranking, with one major side effect.  The new system now highly favor those with a high player level and a lot of RP.  I mean, my 300,000+ RP bot that cost 1412 CPU is sitting at tier 5.  A player who just got to tier 5 won't stand a chance against that.  Even if they figured it out, they won't have the RP or Player Level to pull it off.

Or maybe it is intentional to get people to pay real money for components, who knows.

809 cubes made with solid orange on a Tier 5.  Killing a whole team solo is almost too easy

L3s guns x7
L3 wheels x8

I haven't touched this game in quite a while. I'm gonna take a look at it soon.

Now with only 2 L5s Plasmas I get thrown to tier 9?! BS, I get completely raped by Tier 9's and 10' with a million L5S lasers! Their range also increased. I can't shoot from a safe distance anymore.

Railgun's are let down, imo
L5s equipments are essentially useless now unless you got 600 black cubes to go with it.

The ranking jump stupidly between component levels.  So the optimum strategy is to use lower level component while spamming a truck load of armor of the same level.  Until people catch on I guess I will continue to slaughter entire teams.

This is my breakdown of what armor you should use based on bot Tier, in general though you want to avoid mixing armor too much.

White = Tier 1
Brown = Tier 2
Green = Tier 3
Teal = Tier 4
Orange = Tier 5
Pink = Tier 6
Blue = Tier 7
Black = Tier 10

Unfortunately, this makes even a tier 5 bot stupidly expensive, with armor alone costing 256,000 RP.

The new patch really favors building BIG.  Even my T3 bot is using 659 pieces (13x18).  This thing can literally face tank everything and 1 vs 5.

comes with 7x laser L2s and 8x wheel L2.

It's a pointless post because it didn't add anything to the thread.You can still send PMs for saying thank you.
Wow, are you just being a jerk on purpose or do you seriously mean what you said.

Thanking someone for doing free work is basic courtesy, and a forum that doesn't allow public "thank you" is beyond ridiculous.  It's bad enough that you don't care to do it yourself.  Now you are going to stop other people from doing the right thing?

Nobody should be afraid to thank someone if they clearly mean it, even if it's for something done 1 year ago.

How is this pointless?  I won't mind if someone who download 123AI now would bother to say thanks.  And I doubt you will say the same thing if someone thank you in a NAR AI thread.

If anything people need to do that more often, so content creators don't feel like they wasted their life for nothing.

Stop being so pessimistic.  I highly doubt GTM can get anymore dysfunctional than it currently is, even with PewDiePie fans.

He don't need a tutorial on how to play.

I mean, what's the point of him making a video with a popup that kills all the other crappy bots he had in 5 seconds?

I should totally enter DSL n00b war since one of my earliest DSL bot was RPP.

253
they're not mako wedges cuz they're on skirt hinges, herpderp kossokei

Quote
I called them Neo-Mako wedges because they were steep, like the wedge on Mako.

Are you simply unable to read, Saviour of War?
It's just not the logical conclusion most people would jump to given there are many bots that are a better example, like basically the ones in that thread.
He doesn't know the significance between free axle and skirt hinge, so he just judge based on looks.

254
I'm aware, but it's actually a rather vulnerable setup. Actual mako wedges are decent on slower bots too. It's not just a matter of skirt hinges vs metal hinges really, both Mako wedges and snapper wedges are decent options if you've got the right setup (IE a slower VS for the former and a bot needing a shrimech for the latter).
Axle wedge are terrible regardless of setups.  Even at it's best it still stinks.

255
Game uses 2 sets of chassis values.  The top, shorter set has a fix height, while the bottom longer set can adjust height with each point.

The game uses the top set of values inside arena when graphic is set to medium or high.

FYI, the hoodie costs 262 euros, and they're made in Canada. So yeah, I obviously aren't gonna buy one then.

Having fun isn't the same thing as being funny

dumbass
well clearly you are having fun by being unfunny, good for you
His definition of fun is self inflicted pain.  I actually find it kinna funny.

257
I was quite bad with wedges too for the longest amount of time. A good way to make a decent wedge is by making a 2-wheeled bot.
wheels in the back and a wedge up front that just slides on the ground.

At that point it is all on your driving skills and weapon effectiveness because you will either get under them or clash because they are just as low as you.(Image removed from quote.)
Now it by no means a sure win as I have implied. Both RA2 and reality can back that up. It is a good starting point though.
Actually Mystic was talking about wedges in RA2 specifically, where this doesn't quite apply.
In RA2 there are a few ways to make a good wedge, such as using skirt hinges, metal hinges and burst motors, all with wedge components mounted on them. A chassis wedge, as you suggested, will almost always be outwedged by one of these designs in RA2.
Welcome to the forums, by the way.
As everyone copies the same few working setups, every wedge becomes average.  "Good" wedge, as define by actually being better than average, no longer exists.

So while the game runs on a different mechanics than real life and requires a slightly different setup, both faces the same problem.

Don't worry about Naryar's rant.  He has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to IRL.

If it looks flimsy, it needs more supports, not less.

ALL of the DSL building techniques, and most of the stock ones as well can be applied in both DSL-S and IRL, the only difference is in the BUILDING GOALS.
/rant.
Sorry man but this is just nonsense.
