Chatterbox / Re: Eating Alone
« on: August 10, 2014, 02:31:48 AM »
It probably has something to do with my personality, but I feel hugely uncomfortable going alone to a restaurant.  I dunno, it just shouts out to the world "I COULDN'T FIND ANYONE TO GO HERE WITH ME!!!!!"
I love going to the restaurant by myself when I got the money.  I wanna shout out to the world "I COULDN'T FIND ANYONE TO GO HERE WITH ME!!!!!"

Shell spinners are out... Flail SnS will suck badly... All gut-rippers will be nerfed pretty hard... HS will be probably unbalanced... VS HAHAHAHAHA VERTICAL SPINNERS.
Not sure if trolling or serious.

Now I feel like making a disc VS just for the hell of it.

2 arenas that I really want but don't know how to make.

dunno about your three prong chassis, seems like a waste of weight

though it is indeed a bit long for a proper srimech to work well

3) IRL rules - bots can ONLY be as effective as their real life counterparts, and must have a real life comparable bot.

I don't understand why we have to find a real life comparable bot, that's isn't even IRL anymore that's just Replica.  I suggest changing it to

This is enough to ban all the beater walls and anything else that tries too hard in pushing the efficiency boundaries, without turning this into replica war.

That being said I will try to release v0.4 later today.

Concussion is always better on poker.

Although on a gutripper, beater spamming will probably deal more damage.

What armor is that?  I don't remember having a transparent dark plate this thin.

Did you installed this on top of a space arena or something?

Shocking News:Tupac Lives is beating the tryhard bots that come default with ironforge
The only tryhard part was how to deliberately make them bad.

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas

This is probably off topic but

As for mods, mods are only as good as the effort and time people out into them. There is much for to be improved other than the components, arenas and UI. Hopefully when this is out, there will be better graphics, new sounds and music and better animation. I have to admit this will probably be the biggest thing since DSL, unless 123 has tweaked the sounds and/or graphics. I do understand he's trying to add more weight classes and stuff so he's definitely getting somewhere. Will there be more people like him, myself, and the DSL crew? We'll have to wait and find out.
Sorry to disappoint you but I am more of an econ guy than a programmer/3D graphic designer.

The only goal I have is game function, i.e. that components are balanced, collision fits well, easy to use, and works well with havok engine.  Looks/graphics/sounds are sadly neither my strong suit nor my interest.  All I wanted was a competitive platform and spend about 10x more time in the inner working than the outer skin.

The self-enforced weightclass change is purely a work around for the havoks engine.  Dropping the weight of all the components in half improve performance significantly.

Why 400kgs? I didn't see this mentioned before.
1.  What actually happened

All components' weight have been cut in half.  So the bot you build is exactly the same, just the number on screen is halved.

2.  Why?

Because the havok engine functions a lot better at lower weight.  Don't believe me?  Download v0.3 and watch some AI battles to see the difference.

Just a minor note, all you have to do is re-select the chassis armor to re-adjust the weight.

Thing with chassis armor is that it's saved on the bot file.  Also be sure to try hitting something with the new update. and let me know what you think.

Modifications / Re: Unlimited Mass Mod | SergePatcher

Hi, I have something I really wanted to do.

Is this patcher capable of changing the KG requirements for weightclass?  I want to set all the weightclass == 1/2 the current limit (124, 200, and 400).

Silly Sniper for hills/edge camping.
Back wheels one square lower to leans bot forward, allowing it shoot down hills from a steeper angle.

Ps. Feeling a little sick. I had a stomach-ache, cold sweat and nearly threw up. Is that normal?
Most of you might not know this, but STRESS can induce those symptoms.

Pseudo hovercraft, since the cost boost on wheels they became pretty meh.

This design stay mostly on the ground, and really only hover up to avoid obstacles or when being targeted by plasma bombers.  The speed allows me to get to enemies first for consistent 6+ kills.

Yeah, don't expect most IRL bots to fair well against the current sample bots.  You need to build things closer to standard if you want a fair chance against those.  Of course, they will be replaced once I receive some IRL teams.

Also, it's not the blades, it's the angle and how you block most of the collision with those disc.

Have you tried using side panels instead of armored panel?

I don't think I can fit more armor pieces into the mod without creating giant clutters.

Have you try putting skirts on single skirt hinge?  I am just saying.

Getting under stuff requires some kind of hinges even in DSL.

Probably not anytime soon, although I do intent to nerf the 70kg hammer to some extend with the AI release.  I just wanted to throw it out there to see how people react to it.

The difficulty of the sample bots are set to NAR AI 1.1 to show different components and bot types, and for general balancing purposes.  They are made somewhat functional so I know everything is working properly.

Of course, Ironforge will be re-release once I receive 15 IRL teams.
