Real Robotics Discussion / Re: Who are these bots?
« on: March 09, 2017, 02:39:02 PM »
Number 3 might be Gripper, one of the old Roaming Robots house bots. But I not 100% sure about this one due to photos of it looking more like Growler less like the photo in 3.
Doesn't look like Gripper unless Gripper got reshelled at some point. Gripper basically looked like budget growler.

TIL E Wedges are the current IRL meta.
hey I need those wedges my robot is worthless without them  if I go against anyone who has them or other component hinge wedges.
But Avalanche I thought skirt hinge wedges were Un-IRL  :dumb)
my issue is with skirts as in the long ridiculously thin wedges. Component wedges aren't certain to go under, and can be damaged easier imo. I can agree on them not being exactly IRL though so I'll try and phase them out of my builds.
Lol I'm trying to wind you up. I've used them on my bot too, though I'm trying to phase them out though.

Aftershock is a really good bot but I kinda doubt it will win. if a good flipper tosses it on it's back it could do alot of damage to it self
The problem is gonna be a good flipper reaching the grand final. There's only 5 flippers left and they're in pretty stacked heats.

I would usually recommend small typhoon teeth, but they will collide with the ground... Will they?
Yeah they collide with the ground. They were the first thing I tried.

I really dig the wedge panels, the beaters aren't working for me.

I agree. The beater bars are there for function rather than aesthetics sadly. It has real trouble hitting stuff without them. Any suggestions as to a better looking solution?

I gone and done made a thing. HW VS called Spartan. 1X Perm-132 for weaponary, and 2X NPC fasts for drive. Front wedges are all steel. Srimech is powered by a very small VDMA burst. Pics below:

Either make the wedge shallower or the flipper shorter. The way it sticks out the top right now looks pretty awful. I'd also personally go for a less boxy chassis shape but that might just be me.

why did your flipper get rejected? it looks fine to me

zanzibar's pretty unique for a lw vs, reminds me of a beetle with that shape

the hw is also looking solid

Flipper was rejected as I'd already entered with the VS. I tried to replace the VS with the flipper when I saw how many other spinners were being entered, but he doesn't accept replacement bots unless there's a glitch or something with the first bot you sent. Kinda sucks but oh well. At least I tried to replace it.

Cheers for the feedback.

I think the award for "Most Improved Robot" can go to (Kill-E) Crank-E. That thing actually looks pretty ****ing good. A worthy successor to the legendary Pussycat. Still, rooting for Push to Exit though.

Three bots for you today. Two lightweights and another remake of the first bot I ever submitted. First the lightweights:

This is a new version of Zanzibar which I submitted to Redditbots for the new LW competition. I wanted to withdraw it and replace it with the second lightweight in this post when I saw how many spinners were being entered, but unfortunately he wouldn't allow resubmissions. So here's a generic ass VS. 1X TWM3R for weapo power, 2X Slimbodies for drive. Pics below:

Exterior:

Interior:

Now the second lightweight.Sundown. It's another front hinge flipper, and is essentially a lightweight version of Bocuma, but this time designed with Bocuma II's design in mind rather than the original like with the previous lightweight front-hinger I posted a while back. This was built to replace Zanzibar in Redditbots due to the high number of spinners, but got turned away. 1X Storm front hinge burst for the weapon, and 2X slimbodies for drive.

Exterior:

Interior:

And finally the heavyweight. This marks the seventh version of Tommib, and the very first fully IRL version. Blade no longer clips the motors, and there's no intersecting parts. It's also been rebuilt using DSCs IRL packs, and has been given a srimech arm again as I wasn't happy with the speed or reliability of self righting just using the disc.

Exterior:

Interior (Minus Top Armour):

(The disc just clears the batteries, though this image makes it look like it'll clip with them because of the angle. Honest  :P)
