Existing Games / Re: SCP Containment Breach
« on: August 28, 2012, 08:47:44 AM »
I dunno man I don't play many horror games. I guess I actually find Containment Breach kinda funny too because while it's predictable that's the exact reason it's scary.
That's an early version f the stairs. You shoud try the new version.
I will if I get around to it, but I haven't played an SCP game since I threw my headset at my monitor whilst playing Containment Breach
Due to fright or due to disappointment?

Noticed this game being mentioned after someone said they preferred it to Slender. Basic summary? You know that Weeping Angels episode in Doctor Who? Yeah.

Looks good for what it's aiming for but otherwise it seems pretty pointless.

HENCE WHY I SAID

It's a dedicated anti-shell spinner

FOOL !

Just saying that some versatility would be better than a bot that can take out a single bot type.

Almost looks like it has tank treads hahah.
How strait does it drive? I'm guessing pretty strait due to how narrow it is.

I'm confused. So am I being a massive biggot?
Not entirely, but if you were it would be for a completely pointless reason. As Sys said, homophobia is a defence mechanism, as people perceive threats as things that look out of the norm. It's why if a friend says something that erks you, you are less likely to get a reaction or you are less likely to react to it; because you have enough trust and familiarity.
Homophobia is a phobia as much as arachnophobia, and like it, it is an absolutely useless mental defence from what you perceive to be a threat. If gay people actually effected people physically then it would be logical, but since it is only a mental and hormonal difference there is no threat from it, thus making the mental defence irrelevant.
In effect, Homophobia and racism are built off the same mental process, much like sexism. They are phobias that are pointless because they're developed off a sense of potential threat when in reality it's non - existent.
I'm confused. So am I being a massive biggot?

No. It's a human reaction, and no matter how much you try to pretend that you can accept them, you will always have a hate for them on the inside.
Albeit a pointless one.
Also, you underestimate the fact that people are nowadays informed to an extent where instinct is contradicted by what we know.
Instinct is also a feature which develops more into adulthood. You know how young children are rarely afraid of new things? I doubt the concept of homosexuals would scare a young child, at least not beyond an extent that explaining heterosexual relations would. If one is taught early of the lack of threat then it wouldn't be a problem.

This is why I hold no emnity for homosexuals and if you do then you're clearly not educated to the correct extent for evolution. Ignoring these phobias is evolving towards being able to access more things, which increases odds of survival because you have more familiar ground or personalities to draw upon.

HUZZAH! I AM NOT A BIGOT!

Swoosh

I am a massive homophobe

So you're afraid of people?
Yes, that's why I'm a massive loner IRL

I see what you did there
Your statement is bigoted because it implies that bigots are a bad thing, thus beneath you and thus you would express concern at becoming one.

You have no room to call anyone a bigot.
I'm not going to deny it. It was more of a joke than anything since the whole logical loop I did there was very poor, I have to admit.

Why did I have to get 20 replies or so before I could post my point to a matter which is now over in a way that does not fully overview the situation?
Stop posting so much :P
However I found it massively eye-opening. Thank you.
As I often find, different sources, even if you disagree with every one, give a nice insight into personalities.

You need fewer weapons. Over arming any popup burst motor isn't the greatest idea.

Did G.K. leave?
no, i saw G.K. earlier this evening, just to check around the forum.

and why is Ounce fed up with us? i eanna see him, just once.
Ounce disliked Inf and how people respected him despite his aggressive actions, and how Naryar used his mod powers. Now both points are irrelevant since Inf is gone and Nary is less abusive of his also somewhat limited power.

Good. Then lurk, see other showcases, analyze tournament rounds, find new ideas.

Also actual advice on the bot:
-Chassis is far too tall and too big in general for a LW VS
-Needs more weaponry, a smaller disc and maybe a stronger motor. If you do use a better motor, be sure to protect it because most weapon motors usable in the LW division have bad hitpoints, excepted for the piglet.
-Not only is the overall shape of the bot pretty unappealing, the paintjob is ugly because you're using wildly different colors. Learn about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complementary_colors and use them aesthetically.
He said it was IRL. Realistically it would not have more weapons. A better weapon motor would not go amiss, but an overaly small chassis would be unrealistic too. If it were shorter but had a chassis wedge out front it would be more realistic and the weapons would be more suitable.

NFX: Looks tough, but the extender work is somewhat exposed. Potentially threatened by the spinners, maybe Mr. As since he could probably de-weapon it. Should be fast enough to defeat the SnS.
Ty: Seems somewhat underweaponed, but it's wide and fast. Should be able to beat me, and the gutrippers.
Logan: Looks like one of the better bots here. Heavily weaponed and fast. I'm screwed against it since it has the best chance of removing my discs. I'm expecting this one in the final potentially.
Conraaa: Has a solid chance against everything (other than me since SHW popups don't mean anything to my bot sooooo). Looks well weaponed and fast, should take out the SnS fairly well, and looks like one of the best built bots here.
Urjak: Looks well weaponed and decently armoured. Hopefully I can take out the shell before my disks get raped, since that looks like the bot's weakest link.
Smashy: Well weaponed, should beat some spinners, not much chance against the other bots though. Might beat some gutrippers if it outwedges them.
Craaig: Sadly I'm going to say this is the bot with the worst chance. Two overweight lightweights just won't really cut it against some of the bots here. Might outweapon Andy but it's still in grave danger, which is a shame because they look well built.
Me: OBVIOUSLY THE BEST BOT IN THE TOURNEY. Did well in testing, but screwed against SnS here. Should do well if I can beat Urjak, which seems possible with his weak disk.
Yoda: Should beat the gutrippers but looks too thin and fragile to work against the SnS.
Mr As: Will outweapon most bots, and might beat our gutrippers if it spikeballs enough.
Coolrunner: Obviously not the best chance but should easily push stuff about and maybe score OOTAs.
Ribbs: Fast rammer, should be a danger to the SnS, but gutrippers should trump it.
HA: Looks reasonably fast, should have a decent chance against the gutrippers, but it will probably be outweaponed by the SnS and HS.
S_M: Looks like one of the better SnS. Might be worse than Logan due to its heavier drive (which wasn't too effective on my SnS which I considered entering)
0909090909090000000000000001: Looks like it can outweapon everything other than Mr. As's bot. Could be one of the bots that makes it to the latter stages.

Marty to win Wildcard.

Yeah. He does show up occasionally though, he popped up earlier this year at some point, in a kind of Starcore-ish way of only showing up to make a single post.

Quite a lot of scary bots. All the SnS scare me, Urjak looks like a challenge and Gauche may be a problem. Everything else looks like an easy win.

I remember Jules. Met him on Hamachi a couple of times.

I guess Ounce counts as a recent addition, since he's now said he's fed up with us lol.
Also Phil and Madiaba.
