I just done it and it works fine!
Is there any way i can up the volume on the music?
I can bearly hear it over the crowd and robots!
Plus, using Notepad++, can i change the name and description of the arena?
I want to get it perfect as this will be the arena that i use in Wild Robots Live!
I'll just need to do a few more tweaks to it (If thats ok!)
If i can send you the finished arena and House Robot, can you do the final step which is House Bot AI'ing?
Thanks so much Mad!

Wham,
It appears that the sounds volume is hard-coded in the exe. Though the py coding is present, altering it has no effect. If Serge is able to get access into the exe, then we'll talk. So to adjust the music's volume, just get a good audio editor and adjust it there.
As far as the AI-ing a 'HouseBot', Let me think about the logistics of such an endeavour, and I'll get back with you...

The pivots (CONSTRAINTSOLVERs) in Havok are very picky.  I also ran into this when constructing and tweaking out some lateral and elevation cannon-aiming servos for MadBeaver's Tanks.

Wham-nuts PM-ed Madiaba requesting:   Hi Mad.   Im trying to get the Combat Zone to play the music that i want. Could you send me the .py file for what you did in the music? And couls you replace the song that you have with Spybreak.wav   Thanks.Im going to use the Combat Zone for Wild Robots Live.   And you wouldnt happen to have a step-by-step guide to the House-Robot ai'ing, would you?   Thanks alot!
Whamett

Here, Wham: ..........>MusicBoxArena<

It has a ReadMe, so you can change it to whatever song you would like.
Be careful, and use Notepad++ or Python itself.

As far as the HouseBot coding, there is none presently written. It would have to be scripted.

I can do the NPC AP's, CB, to share the work load. I'll make sure they're a higher number so as to leave the present ones. If you have a preference let me know how many, where and what type, and I'll have it hopefully by the end of this week.

Close enough, I guess.

Edit: When I've moded the range parameters in the bot file, I could not get very good results (near 180). It took a large weapon to hit the floor on both sides (to make up for the limited swing). What's the max radian spread/settings you could set without glitching, CB? Do you play with shaft length and hammer weights too?

Huh, I can't find the 'Events.txt' in the patch...?? I'll talk with CB.
Reier, Man, and esp. H@z, could you guys look in your 2.1 patch and see if there is an 'Events.txt' in the main part (not in a folder).

To fix:
In your main RA2 directory, you'll find a txt call 'Events'.
Make a BU.
Open this txt up and then Search for "Platform".
The section looks like this, and double check to make sure you're in the right place:
2
Blades Tournament
Format: Rumble | Arena: Ocean Platform | This remote tournament is famous for the extremely destructive blades competitors have to face in the arena, not to mention the water hazard. Don't expect an easy victory.
2
Arenas\event_results\prizes\Toughman_Photo\Toughman_Photo.gmf
You lost in the first round. So that makes you a Loser!
Arenas\event_results\prizes\Vacation_Photo\vacation_photo.gmf
Well, you made it past the first round. You won an autographed photo of the beautiful supermodel, Glenda Goodsmile.
Arenas\event_results\prizes\Spike_Trophy\Spike_Trophy.gmf
You won the event! Here is a great trophy for you!
UI\teamhq\events\trophies\Spike Trophy.tga
UI\teamhq\events\dsl_blades.bmp
Ocean Platform
Arenas\oceanarena\oceanarena_preview.bmp
4
1
1 <- Change to this number to '1' (as shown).

-----------
Then Search for "Compressor".
Do the same here:
13
Crushers
Format: Rumble | Arena: Compressor | The name says it all. The crowd at this event despises any bot that doesn't get crushed.
2
Arenas\event_results\prizes\VCR_Series\VCR_Series.gmf
You lost in the first round. You get the Famous Warez NotePad Suite.
Arenas\event_results\prizes\VCR_Series\VCR_Series.gmf
You won the first round. You get the Famous Warez NotePad Suite.'
Arenas\event_results\prizes\dsl\bladetrophy.gmf
You managed to win both rounds! You get this Blade Trophy!
UI\teamhq\events\trophies\bladetrophy.tga
UI\teamhq\events\dsl_crushers.bmp
Compressor Arena
Arenas\compressor\dm_compressor_preview.bmp
4
1
0 <- Change to this number to '0' (as shown).

This should remedy the glitch.

Ok, Back on topic:
My sister(a blonde) sent me this one:

An old, blind cowboy wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake. He finds his way to a barstool and orders some coffee.

After sitting there for a while, he yells to the waiter, 'Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?' The bar immediately falls absolutely silent. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says,   'Before you tell that joke, Cowboy, I think it is only fair, given that you are blind, that you should know five things:   1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat.   2. The bouncer is a 250 lb. blonde.   3. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weightlifter.   4. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler.

   5. I'm a 6-foot tall, 175-pound blonde woman with a black belt in karate.

Now, think about it seriously, Mister. Do you still wanna tell that joke?'
The blind cowboy thinks for a second, shakes his head back and forth, and mutters,
'No... not if I'm gonna have to explain it five times.'

Wham you just triple posted.
Just Google it damn it! It's easy as heck, you'll get a free download and a very useful program that i'm using for AI-ing too.
BTW Goose just took you in his aim, so you better pay attention now. (he changed your personal title)

I agree, Goose; and thanks. That's what I was observing, but wasn't sure, so gave Wham the benefit of the doubt. And now he's admitted it himself:

NOT TRUE!
Things just got a bit out of hand, thats all!
In case you didn't notice, there are no "things" here, only people to "get out of hand"; which in this case here happens to be you, and purposely at that...

I want the answers, yes, but its ok to have a bit of fun aswelll.
I am probably more tolerant than some other Admins here, Wham. But seeing others as objects to 'have fun'(play) with speaks, in a universal language, volumes about you. If you can't figure this out, and do it again, then you will see the other side of things, then maybe that will help you...

Mad are you calling that an innovative bot? Right, it is well-built, but IMO that huge god damn weapon is teh generic. No, it's the combo of four 70kg dsl-4 hammers plus two 60kg sledge hammers on an HS that I've not seen before. And it's only mediocrely built, due to the disk weakness.

Again, fast and wedgy bots own in this arena. If they're well-built of course (and i spotted a bunch of flaws in IC2)...Do you guys noticed that all the DSL BBEANS were won by fast and wedgy bots? No disagreement here.

Nice job, SB

I agree, Joe, it was funny. I laughed when I saw that; it was like a little crab with his shell, going in and out.

Daisy's out. This is her mechography (her life story) entitled:
"Please don't pick on the Daisies, but don't count on them either."

Well before, I had tried HS's with a plethora of 'piercing' damage weapons. So since I like inovative bots and also wanted to try concussion for a change (esp. knowing that Jules was going to have a kind of Mako entered), I built Daisy Might. She is a very 'heavy weaponry' and 'little protection' bot, trusting that the weapons will get the job done before significant damage can be returned....At least that was the idea, hehe.
When I tested Daisy Might, she did alot better than this. A disk problem was rare, but now I think CB was right in his assessment. I should have tested her more.... but probably cause of building the new arena ....
But as time permits, I'll tweak and test her more, and then..... she will return! So, Clear out, Hillary! Watch out Obama! Eat crow! Votre maman!(Translation for SpyGuy:"Yo' mama!").

Giga.... Can you make an AIed bot to ignore all arena hazards....?

Quote from: Gigafrost;19035
1- Yes it's possible (mad correct me if I'm wrong). I will indeed count it as legal as well. As long as it abides with the other rules I previously posted.
[/COLOR]
Yes, there's coding in the arenas that enables the bots to avoid hazards and floor edges. It's only a deterrant not a preventitive. And yes one could mod/tailor it.
