Super neat. I really like the graphics. Looking forward to seeing how the tournament plays out.

Discussion / Re: Which bot are you most proud of?
« on: August 19, 2017, 04:25:50 PM »
Most of my bots are pretty bland compared to some of the crazy stuff in here. Of them I'm probably most proud of Cascade. I'm not really sure why I just really like how it all fits together and looks as a package:

My most recent bot comes pretty close in terms of bots I'm most proud of. It's probably one of the few bots I've ever built where the end result ended up looking exactly like what I had planned out in my head.:

Long story short, been inactive lately due to holiday's but I'm back and I made a thing... Splash!!

(Image removed from quote.)

now yes, this is basically Splatter from Battlebots 2015 (also Whiplash from Robogames made by the same team, at least I think so) 4WD, lifter with a spinner on it, but this one has either a wedge to deflect spinners away, or a plate of metal at the front for when facing any other weapon, I couldn't make the saws spin so they are static, but if anyone knows how I can do that then please tell me so i can adjust it.

anyways, this is meant to be a small and simple build, nothing special, would love to hear your thoughts on how i can improve it. ^_^
Love it. Especially the version with the anti-spinner wedges. Only change I'd suggest is putting a small turquoise disc inside each of the taz wheels to cover the red and make them fit with the bot's colour scheme better.

NGL I preferred the original bar personally

one is the dreaded RA3. THey both had multiplayer, but they were all full of bugs.

i am voting for multiplayer.

I personally haven't tried RA3 yet.  How is the online multiplayer experience?

I'm afraid of underestimating how difficult it is do this well.

I expect that there would be a lot of robot parts that appear to randomly teleport when a packet arrives that is delayed by 300 ms and the robots are forced to shift their positions to the new spot.  Even with interpolation, there could be weirdness as robots rotate into position under the control of a linear interpolation function instead of the user's input.
RA3 multiplayer is a bit of a mess. It's buggy, occasionally laggy, and you can only play with people on the same continent as you with no option to change servers. It is still far better than RA2 online via Gameranger though.

Im a personal fan of the aerial. Also would 1 storm burst be more effective? Very nice, shame it AGODs. Was looking forward to potentially fighting it
I managed to fix the AGOD so it should all be good to compete in International wars. I think 2 VDMAs is slightly more effective but I'm not entirely sure. I've used the same setup on other bots and it worked pretty damn well so I just used it again here

Hey that's bretty good  :thumbup
That's done tight work angling those plates. Very solid.
Thanks guys!

Unfortunately the wheels on this thing have AGOD as it turns out so I may be ****ed and have to replace it in international wars :(

Edit: I think I've fixed it actually. Also apologies to Badger who I've sent 4 different iterations of this bot to.

It's been a while but here's another bot. This one's for Badger's International Wars tourney and is supposed to be based on Lichtenstein, though the colour scheme is about the only thing that carried over.

  • 793.1KG
  • Almost all Steel armour
  • 2X NPC Fast Drive
  • 2X VDMA Front hinge bursts powering weaponry
  • 1x Long Black batt and 3X ant batts (Lack of space)
  • An Aerial!

are there more of those mash ups? that was excellent

There's a bunch of mashups of Boards of Canada with various hiphop artists yeah. I just went for my favourite. Here's another:

my life is ruined
Anyways, here's one of my favorite Gorillaz songs, since you all know I'm a big Gorillaz fan:

Sorry if it transports you to a new tab, I'm doing this on my phone.
It's a fan made mashup. BOC have never worked directly with any hiphop groups. There's a bunch of them on YouTube:

Armor panels don't do damage. Put beater bars or teeth on the bottom of the armor panels instead of the wedge edges and you should be good to go.

EDIT: also holy sh** that's amazing
720.2kg Weight (60kg left to fit in some teeth)
Nonetheless looks super cool. Kudos to you for managing to make a full body spinner interesting

NGL I actually restarted playing Minecraft again recently so I might be interested in joining. What are / would be the rules of the server? Are you allowed to build whatever you like as long as it's not ****ing up other people's stuff or is it more strict than that?

I like it. The way you've angled the backs of them so they mesh together is super neat. Like Hoppin says though, piglet motors for drive is a big no-no. Try to switch to Slimbodies or TWMR Drives.

I was gonna recommend this guy

https://www.youtube.com/user/BBCRobotwarsUK/featured

But njgw has much better quality. He doesn't have series 1.2. or 6 it seems, so maybe you can get the rest from the guy I listed
That isn't high quality. Those vids are about 7 years old too. We're talking 720p and higher.
AFAIK Series 1,2 and Extreme 2 don't exist at all in high quality (until NJGW, if ever, gets round to uploading them) and Series 6 existed in high quality for like 3 months in the Canadian Netflix, and as far as I know nobody got a rip off it, so we may have to settle for BBCRWUK's quality for now.
