challenging orc to the DSL HW title dsl s or irl your pick, also how does the robot wars arena (2016) and bo3 sound to you? Any other rules just say :>
Talked to Jamie and we've decided on: DSL-IRL, RW Arena 2016, Best of 3, Robot Wars Styled Judging (Damage, Aggression, Control) and 2 Havok Restarts per bot per round
Also can we possibly have Doot to host please?
If you're doing IRL it can't be for the title I believe

I like the gimmick on this one. I think I may throw something in

I think it looks cute. Reminds me of a Series 3 bot.
I'll take that as a compliment

To be honest I don't see why we can't just say that IRL isn't a core meta but it can be used for title/belt fights if BOTH the champ and challenger agree. That rule doesn't hurt anyone
Because that will just lead to the title getting held hostage. Someone will claim the title and then refuse to fight anyone unless they agree to an IRL match, which they'll enter some 'competitive IRL' sh**box into and keep the title locked down

Agreed with Kill and Hoppin about the previous bot so I tried to take the same basic principle but streamline it a bit more. Similar shape but less ridiculously tall because I got rid of the beta in favour of 2 small VDMA R/P bursts. Less power but much better looks wise. Also enclosed the wheels because I agree they looked ugly. Took the opportunity to revise the colour scheme too to a less toothpaste-y hue. Drive is still 2 NPC fasts and power comes from 2 blacks and 1 battlepack. 799.2 KG Pics: Exterior: I also decided to make a front hinge version of it where the 2 small VDMAs are swapped for a Storm front hinge burst. Wedge is probably too steep for a truly effective front hinger but it seems to sorta work. 771.3 KG in this config. Pics: Exterior:

Totally banning IRL titles is a frankly stupid idea that I refuse to stand for. it's the most popular meta for a reason.
Because it's easy to build. Nothing else to it.
So's stock IRL and nobody plays that. DSL IRL is popular because people wanna build stuff like what they see on BB and RW and DSL provides the best tools to do so. Nothing else to it

i like this more than what we have now
can we also pre-emptively ban irl from counting for these challenges because it goes directly against how irl was intended to work
No. It's the most popular meta, there is no reason to exclude it. IRL may be designed for looks but it's also good for building in a more realistic manner than DSL-S allows, and if you want to make cool bots instead of competitive bots you shouldn't be trying to obtain the Challenge Belt.
irl was literally created for the sake of nice looking robots
if you're prioritizing competitiveness over looks you arent building irl
also, maybe this will see a renaissance in literally every other metagame which have been quietly dying for over a year
i see no reason to outright ban irl challenges if people want to have them, just dont have them count towards the challenge belt
You realise that you can make nice looking IRL bots that can actually fight too, right? That's literally what I've been doing for the past year or so.
Absolutely, but if you have competitive challenges in IRL the focus shifts away from the 'look good' part and onto the 'fights well' part. It starts out fine but after a while you just start seeing cheap low effort sh**bots showing up again

I really really like that first one. It's very simple but seems like a super cohesive bot. The plows are super underused too and you've managed to make it look great. Maybe lacking in drive power a bit though.

I like the vert the best. Still not a fan of how the black bits on the skirt hinges clip out, and the angles of the sides could line up with the angle of the 45 degree pieces a bit better. Was there any reason you couldn't use metal hinges?

New bot built to kill time because I don't have WiFi ATM. Supposed to be based on an ambulance but also kinda reminds me of toothpaste. Heavyweight beta burst flipper with dual NPC fast drive. Armour is a mix of Ti and Alu. Power comes from 2 blacks and 2 battlepacks. No internal pic ATM, will add one when I get WiFi. Pics: Exterior:

I like flamethrowers [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] This bot has been though so many iterations. It started with Ember: [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] I then improved the bot, including a sloped rear to the chassis to improve stability (Ember TE) then adding a slow mag snapper on top as a srimech. Lots of internal changes later and like 3 hours of refining AI, as well as creating a custom(ish) .py for the bot, and the work paid off. It's also my first bot that uses a custom skinned component that I skinned myself.
I also like the skinning. Nice work on making small wedges actually not look horrific. Custom skinned components always scream 'I actually put effort into this bot' to me, so nice work there. still a lil' jewy with the eternalflame though

I know its an old guide but, question is component freedom allowed if i helps with the design E.g Perm going through the chassis?
IRL is made for looks so anything goes. Don't do it in standard
Not anything. Can't clip batteries and motors and stuff

Heres a Middle weight Tohru Maximus I made very quickly. Not amazingly tough nut has got a few good knockouts
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
I quite like it. Only part I'd suggest changing is trying to get rid of the 'lip' in the transition between the chassis and the drum supports to make it more seamless

teehee traps
I think you would just be better off skinning the disc red instead of adding a layer of red extenders. That should at least free up the weight to make it look beefier.
Don't even need to skin a disc red. There's red discs already included in the new version of DSC's pack

Said it when you first showed it but I ****ing love it. Would be nice if you could get it into the SHW limit but I completely understand if you don't wanna try and trim the weight with how good it looks right now
