I'm a hockey guy myself, but I'm Canadian, so that should be pretty obvious.

The spins are from only when it is inverted. From my point of view, one of two things would cause this:

1. The robot not being completely invertible, in which case only one wheel would contact the ground at a time and cause a spin.

or

2. The robot's centre of gravity changing when inverted. This is the toughest part about building a 2WD rammer for me. For a bot like Toxin Ant especially, when it is fllipped and still unstable, a heavier side may touch down first, causing it to spin before it stabilizes.

Neither of these problems would have to do with the AI.

I'm still in this. I just have to make some minor tweaks. I will have my bots in by tomorrow.

I think that it's really great that you care enough about hosting a tourney to post a formal public apology, but in all honesty, you're taking this much too seriously. AI mistakes happen all of the time. In fact, it was an AI mistake that prompted most of the community to learn how to AI. (I'm a bit hazy on some of the details, correct me if I'm wrong)

Story Time:

It was back during ianh05's Tag Team Tournament. In the first round, Inf and K343 were up against Barbie and eFFe. Inf had a SnS and Kill had a popup, and Barbie and eFFe both had popups. It was expected to be a close match, with Inf and Kill winning, because of Inf's SnS. The highly anticipated match turned out to be a dud though, due mainly to Kill's popup fishtailing frequently because of AI deficiencies. With the next few matches being affected in a similar way, there was a huge fallout about ian's AIing shortcomings. There were flame wars aplenty. Eventually, one main idea came out of the carnage: "If you want to participate in an AI tourney, you must either accept the standard of the host's AIing capabilities, or AI your own bot." Because no one wanted to end up screwed because of AI, tons of people learned how to AI to better their chances. Before this, only Starcore and some select builders (Mad, CB, etc.) knew how to AI. After this, I believe that SC wrote a tutorial on the old forums and had it stickied, so the masses learned how to AI. Ian re-did the whole tourney, and Sage and Sorrow won, with ian and myself finishing as the runners-up.

The End.

S32 seems to be okay with the loss, so I think you should proceed with the tourney. It's your first one, so it's a learning experience for you and we expect things like this to happen anyways. AI will never be a substitue for human driving.

The bottom line: don't worry about it; it's only a game. MM is an awesome tourney so far, and I can't wait for more action.

Toxin Ant looked fine in its first battle to me. The AI in any tourney is far from perfect. Look at BBEANS. It's the premier tournament, and there have been bots losing because of AI deficiencies before (HazCon vs Enfilad3, first match).

Also, what S32 said seems correct.

You might want to stick an extender on top of the bar, and have a static srimech, like the DSL Tornado.

Also, that Etek looks mighty exposed...

The conclusion to the third match is what RA2 is all about. Win, pure win.

Just a quick question for the people who are knowledgeable about AI:

Would it be possible to use Philetbabe's S.O.W (Servo Oriented Weapons) AI to operate the "lance" when the bot charges?

you guys are overusing this smiley.

Very true. Remember, the big one is only to be used in cases of epic win, and the small one with regular win. Low to moderate win such as this situation only requires a simple " :D "

Also, SSG needs to build more MW's. This is like the 23543453rd straight time you've used Minesweeperin a stock MW tourney, and you've lost every. single. time. >.>

My rating of the pack so far:

I just quickly skimmed through it, and I have to say damn good job, Naryar. There is now a good number of MW's that I find a challenge (most of them actually), and a few that I haven't beaten yet. I didn't go through the LWs or HWs, but I will at a later date.

Hell, I might even submit a team for this yet. I'm really looking forward to the finished product :D

I could probably get the extender work in place for a decent hammer... If you're creative enough, you could potentially make any bot type.

My only problem is the stack. I tried for about an hour today to stack the control board in one black and I couldn't do it.

I believe that Mauler 51-50 was a flail shell spinner. Also, there was a heavyweight or middleweight VS in Battlebots that had flailing weapons too.

Scrap, you make really good replicas.

STOP MAKING THEM AND BUILD MORE GOOD BOTS INSTEAD >:O

Other than that, good job.

I figure I'd post some stuff tonight just to kinda share some thoughts andget my showcase off of page 4 :\

Nothing too special here. Just an AW rammer. 2 ant batteries and steel 1 I think:

The LW rammer I said that I'd post about a day ago. NPC fasts, and I think Ti 1 or 3 armour...

This is my favourite of these bots. Linck's side hammer inspired me to make one for myself, so here it is. Normal NPC's, Ti 1:

I also wanted to make a stock-esque popup in DSL, so here's what turned out (Ti 3, 8 razors):

I've also re-built Electric R3d and Enfilad3, as well as numerous BBEANS 6 prototypes. I'm gonna keep most of my LW stuff under wraps for a bit, but I might post the new Enfilad3, complete with a fancy splash when it's all skinned up and complete.
