I dont think it is possible to be exact but Im sure I can make a compromise... I will basically wait for all entry's before i decide were it will go

yeah small smart zones would work out well.. yeah I think I will attach the targets in a common place for all robots so they are about the same for everyone (that does mean I just need everyone's entry's to weigh no more then 799.7 KG

Thought: Joe, what if you, the guy running the tourney, placed a plate (1) in the middile of the bot, (2) at a certain height just above the bot, (3) facing forward, that the other bot is to knock off to win. They are ALL in the same spot on every bot. Then whatever is done beyond this, is up to the builder to design. But it is a 'common' target for all. I'll help you place them if you want.. that sounds like a good idea if I place the targets on the bots the only thing is if one bot has that place covered.. I wouldn't be able to attach it then ? unless you had something else/ method in mind? I understand you are all confused with the burst weapons rule but basically if you read it carfully...
- No part of a robot may exceed and/or stretch over the wall of the jousting arena
- All weaponry must be brought into play via burst motors (basically the same concept as the above rule)
basically you can build any robot you want but nothing can be placed over the wall EXCEPT if a burst fires it over the wall and into the path of the other robot

good to hear that, I think I will ditch the little name gimmick idea though as I was this tournament to stay well.... I guess as Inf put it normal ? I think getting too stuck into a theme will make it look too tacky :-D
Edit: we have hit 16 entry's (on the first post) if anyone doesn't want there name on there or does (and I haven't added you yet) please let me know, as I said I am prepared to go to 32

I kind of wanted bursts to bring weapons into play as its kind of like a knight moving his lance across the wall to be hit, but I guess I can allow pistons too

I would be interested in joining this... but i have a few questions.
-What if you put the target on the bot exposed but in a place that can't be hit by the opposing bot? like what if you attached it horizontally on the back of the bot like a tail? it would be too low to reach i think.
it has to be a hit able place but like I said before im not expecting every bot to be able to hit it.. dont forget with 1 HP you can loose it if it hits the ground hard enough, there will be some lead way with it but If I think your going out of your way to hide it then I cant except your entry, sorry its really hard to explain its a concept Click came up with when I brought up the idea, take a look at the bot in the start of this thread that target is exposed but hard to get due to the weapon bursting in front of it
-So, the bot cannot have any part built on it that would always stretch over the wall. But all weapons can be put on burst motors so that they return back to the bot when done? How is this rule enforced? If a bots weapon extends to the other side of the wall but does not contract, is that a DQ? What if a bot is hit really hard and somehow flips over to the other side of the wall... is that a DQ as well? I am thinking that balance might be really tricky with this. If you make a bot that has a huge weapon to swing over, it might cause it to be a tad unpredictable and misbalanced.
no DQs for falling over walls etc, the only thing is the only way you are allowed to have something over the wall is if a burst fired it over there, so basically I will put on mads big smart zones so the robot fires the bursts right into the path of the other robot, the rule is basically stopping any static weaponry or say half a spinner that stretches over the wall
-Would it be possible for you to make two bots and record an example match for us to watch? That would be cool.
I can do that to show everyone how the concept works :-D
Great idea! I think it needs some clarification and exactness to the building rules, but it could be a blast to participate in! hope that answers everything

with a lot of testing I can do it with simply omni.py :-D I wire all the motors to forward on the "spin" input so it will take off as soon as the count goes down and the turning speed and turning are set to really small values so the robot will stay close to the wall but will continue heading forward (one of the slower test bots had 0.1 for turn speed :P)
it worked rather well in testing so im pretty confident

sorry I wasnt too clear, weapons cant go over the wall unless the burst fire moves them over the wall (so you basically cant make static weapons or say spinning discs that hand over the wall
also funny thing Craaig you were the first to comment in my CC2 plans thread too :P

As you may have heard me mention before about making a jousting tournament for those that don’t know Definition of Jousting: Jousting is a medieval sport played by two armoured knights mounted on horses, mounted knights would charge at their enemies with weapons to try to kill or disable them. Basically that with robots but yes there are more rules... General Rules- Stock HW, a robot may not weigh anymore then 799.7kg (0.3kg are needed for 2 smart zones and a target)
- No Bot File Editing, etc (ALL building must be done in the bot lab)
- AI Parts are perfectly legal (Blue Snapper, Emergency Wedge, Etc)
- Cheatbot2 parts are NOT legal for use (this includes the flamethrower, magnet, cannon, etc)
- Any in game glitches may be exploited as long as they don’t violate the above rules
Advanced Rules- No part of a robot may exceed and/or stretch over the wall of the jousting arena
- All weaponry must be brought into play via burst motors (basically the same concept as the above rule)
Format- Each match will consist of 3 “Jousts” and the winner will be determined on a points based system
- 3 points if you break your opponents Target off
- 1 point each if no targets are knocked off
- 0 points if your target is knocked off (unless you break your opponents off before yours was broken)
- The player with the most points wins, in the event of a draw after the 3 “Jousts” the total in game points from each match will be added up and the highest total wins.
all those eliminated from the tournament before the semi finals will go into a consolation bracket were they will fight it out for 1 prize selection Prizesthe winner will gain a choice of 2 prize's, the runner up and consolation bracket winners will gain 1 prize of there choice. Liberator Jousting Arena Test Garage Skinned Jousting Targets Collection Diamond Spikes Extra InfoYou may be wondering what is a Jousting Target ? it is a custom component I made that has only 1 HP and can be downloaded Here dont worry about attaching these to your entry's how ever as I will do that to all entry's AI’ing? I have worked out a way to AI the entrees so you don’t have to worry about AI’ing your entry Arena? Many of you may have seen it before off RFSHQ ? (it can be found here https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2156) I really want to stress this part I do not and wont take any credit for the arena, all credit goes to Lu-Tze for this awesome piece of work and I sure hope its ok that I host a tournament with this great arena :D List of Entry's (Green if AI'd into the game)1. somestrangeguy2. I already tried, These are the parts where I either can't find the txt file or can't find the HP in the text file. you can always get the CFZ compiler from this website and De-compile Components.cfz to find all the txt files for the components

actually a lot less complicated then it looks :-D open up you bindings file some time and it tells you what each means up the top of the file (except for robots like FBS_1)
