What series of life choices led to this?
Maybe he was going for a clamp kinda thing? I have no idea.

Alright, I looked, both bots are OK.
Lemme just confirm the rules before I record, though: Best of 3 Combat arena Hazards off 1024

In light of the recently-released "no rule of 7" thing, I'd like to ask that you do not use it while building for Rival Rumble.

Welp.
We've hit the deadline, and there are still 7 people who haven't entered their bots. Plus, I wasn't really thinking when I made the deadline, so it's the middle of final exams for me. That's why I'm announcing a 1-week extension to the deadline. New deadline is 11:59 PM on May 7. I figured I'd wait as long as possible to announce this, to encourage panic-building, and see how many entries I could get. To those of you who already have your bots in: thank you! I'll be sending PMs out to everyone who has yet to submit a robot shortly. 1029

I remember EMERGENCY and Coal Miner being the hardest for me to beat when I first played. Seeing them get knocked out of the tournament bracket early was always a blessing.
Of course, I only built HWs, so I never really saw the other bots much. 1031

Wowie! We didn't get a terrible memebot this month!
Alright, here's some thoughts: 1. ehhh 2. Cool bot and a well-made splash. A solid contender. 3. Very clean bot and splash. IRL-style usually doesn't do much for me, but this one's very nice. 4. Nice model, and well put-together splash. The bottom left picture reminds me of my Mr. Bones splash. 5. Text is kinda messy, but maybe that's the idea? The multiple-fights-edited-together is pretty cool. 6. Why is all the text crossed out? I do like "The AI probably can't use it" - that seems like something I'd put on one of my own splashes. 1032

Stock Showcases / Re: R01's Showcase Thread« on: April 29, 2016, 02:42:56 PM »Offtopic, really hoping to join one of your tournaments one day, but I sadly don't have good enough bots and AI skills yet.Good to hear you're interested in entering tournaments but I wouldn't worry about AI skills, as it's a tournament host's obligation to AI your robots for you if you cannot do so yourself. Yugi's right, but it's still a good thing to learn so you can test your own bots. With RA3 on the horizon, who knows what the demand will be for RA2 AI tournaments, but I'll keep hosting for as long as there's interest. 1034

Consider updating your main post, then copying the relevant stuff and also posting it in your post announcing a new bot. That would probably encourage more discussion.
And yeah, popups main intention is to get under the opponent and then stab them in their weak point to inflict massive damage. We use burst motors not for flipping power, but just because they fit nicely in the chassis, unlike pistons which could do the same thing but are clunky and huge. 1036
