6.razer in series 2 and 3 (mechanical problems) :vista:
7.chaos 2 in series 5 (performed well but didn't make it as far as it should have, well you know they then came back with a new robot the next year... Wait they didn't...
8. any iteration of steg  wait repeat emoticon umm random dance party
9.tornado in series 4 (which leads to my next one) :ermm:
10. Gemini (cool concept good in battle but rambots are kinda gonna own you) (maybe one of my favorite robots of all time)  :rage
well I'm glad i could get that off my chest
now enjoy wheely big cheese in all of his potential

General Support / (not-so) generic crash on startup problem (fixed)
« on: March 28, 2014, 08:16:04 PM »
now i know that i am one of the many to have this problem... but this problem continues through the techniques i find. If you have any advice on how to fix it post below (i know there are many but many have already failed on my computer)

Running windows 7 (64 bit)
Downloaded off this website
RA2 version1.4
been working for 2 weeks to get it fixed  :vista:

Been looking to get this game for months but didn't find link for download until recently
When i run the game it appears with a loading cursor and then says
"Robot Arena 2 has stopped working windows will close the program and notify you of a solution"
wants to start a showcase and eventually join some tournaments (most likely in DSL but get through working stock to work before messing with it)

What can I say about this... For starters it has razors and it ends with razors.

Razors.
obviously it needs more razors and maybe some... more razors

i had been looking into this game for a while but did not find it until a month and a half ago. However, i did not buy it because there was a large amount of robot fighting games released in the 2000's that were not very good. I was drawn in by nerd3's video though. My real question is should i download dsl 3 or dsl 2.1. need to know which one hosts tournaments more. or which one is easier to just pickup and build a decent robot. i have many ideas i want to incorporate into this game and want to see if they can perform against actual people. :popcorn am ready for the ride. *sunglasses

Modifications / Re: WHY WE ARENT JUST MAKING A NEW GAME FROM SCRATCH
« on: March 28, 2014, 03:38:18 PM »
this is one of the reasons i believe robotic combat should be broadcasted again, this along with making people who watched the originals happy and getting children into robotics and engineering. But i digress. Until robotic combat gains the popularity it once had i see no hope in any major company designing a game. Indie developers have tried to make robot combat games but many have flopped making it dangerous territory. also the forum could only develop a game if people put money behind it. This is possible but a majority of the entire forums makeup would be dedicated to it for it to work. This would make a new robot game but knowing all the complications of programming it may take years to develop a game half as good as RA2 more so to make something with modern day physic engines and debugging. The only chance is to get a large developer interested in this genre of games. a basic java class won't get you very far in programming a game this complicated. I would love to see a new robot game. But until it becomes a way for many companies to try and grab money we wont ever get a good one.
