General Support / Compiler keeps not compiling
« on: February 04, 2018, 06:27:46 AM »

So, I've recently been coming across this:
I've came across this problem a bunch of times and IDK why it keeps happening. It's crashed for components such as a chewblade, lt drums, toro eyes, other things too.
I switched to a different compiler but it kept doing the same thing.
Is there any way to stop it?

General Support / lutze components????
« on: January 19, 2018, 12:41:03 PM »
So, I'm trying to find the old Lu-Tze components pack and there are no links to them
I need these as I'm fixing more of Sonny Resetti's robots and a few include some components that are not on my computer at all
The links on the internet do not work anymore, so is there any other way to access these files or does anyone own them that would PM me them please? I swear they are for good use :)

Off-Topic Discussion / Apologies
« on: January 15, 2018, 05:33:51 PM »
Hi everyone, I posted on the Games of 2017 thread to get a few things off my chest:

but the rest that I didn't say keeps bothering me so I feel as though I need to say this. Now a lot of you won't care, I wouldn't either because I know to a lot of people this is just a message board but it means more than that to me and the way things are looking right now I think I'll be here for a while. Over the past I've done things here that I regret massively so please read this and hopefully I can make some things right. Okay...

Starting out:
So when I got here I was a cringe worthy n00b and didn't know how to build or improve (building skills and behaviour). I used to build sh** and think it was good then take any criticism as an insult. I get now I should've taken it as criticism but I was very immature at the time.

Telling Sage to "shut up"
Yeah, this wasn't supposed to be as serious as it was taken. I didn't mean it to be an insult but then again it was still retarded of me anyway. I can't apologise enough to Sage for this and I was so stupid at the time. From here I just went on a downward spiral on GTM and constantly pestered people for robots, mainly Rob Collins and Mazakari and again I'm so sorry for causing any trouble if you read this, for entries into JD Wars but also because I wanted to mess around with them too.
About JD Wars, if I get the chance which I am working on, it'll be my robots only lol. As well, I seemed to request robots to be put into the RWRA2 Official Mod which was also a waste of time but it only seemed like I was, I really just wanted to see cool robots remade and was giving ideas. People took this the wrong way, and it's easy to see why, but whatever I want to think it's over and done with... Also, massive thank you to Scrap Daddy for being one of the only ones to help me out when you really didn't need to.

2015:
In January, life took a dark turn for me when I believe I started getting better at modding RA2 and getting a bit better with my building. It didn't put me off RA2 fully, however I lost some enthusiasm and got bored. I think I was depressed at the time and did whatever I could to be happy but after a while I was happier, but after a few months I lost interest in RA2 and looked towards another interest of mine, Pro Wrestling. Now, I had always loved it but got more involved and got into the behind the scenes side. I still peruse this hobby and I'm currently in training. This doesn't matter except it's my life outside of GTM and from time to time I'll be more interested in that. Another thing that put me off RA2 is how I tried making a Sonny Resetti AI after volunteering. Now I know a DSL version was released and that's cool, but now and again I fix a few bots for the mod I'm working on which involves a lot more of his older robots and some new ones too which after a lot if work will be released with Sonny's permission. As time went by working on it, my laptop started to fail a bit and didn't work too well but hopefully all will be fine now so I'll try getting back to work.
At the same time though, I would drop in to GTM and tried doing stuff which worked until...

MEISTER!!!!:
Well... sh**. All the credibility I tried building up from my first year instantly was destroyed. I can't remember exactly what happened, but here's my opinion.
I do remember sending my friend a screenshot of something on GTM (note, we live two sides of town but we go to the same school, it's a small town), then he creates a troll account and starts bashing random threads which he found funny and I didn't tbh. I also remember telling him to stop which he ignored. A day or so later, we sit next to each other (we're sat like this in a few lessons where we're on computers) and I think I checked something on GTM that was going on at the time and he sees it, then remembers the meister stupid sh** and starts doing it again. As we're at the same location it looks like I'm doing a Reier, which I promise I wasn't! After that I didn't see the point in coming back to GTM fully and instead turned to wrestling and Idubbbz, and also finishing GCSE's. I barely used GTM until late 2017 where I have recently gained interest again.

Sorry:
So, all in all, I'm sorry for being such a n00b and I realise how much a turd I was. And I know, I'm not a big deal on here but hopefully I begin contributing to the community :)

Tournament Archives / Minibots Challenge Discussion
« on: January 05, 2018, 02:59:25 PM »
[No logo yet lol]

General:
So I've been thinking about an IRL beetleweight challenge tournament based off RW Extreme 2.
Now, I know an IRL rule seems a horrible idea for a beetleweight type root but I don't believe it's been done before.
[If not IRL then realistic design maybe??]
What mod do you guys think should it be done in? I was thinking DSL 2.2 maybe best but is there another that would be preferred?

Arena:
I want to make an arena that is similar to the video above, I'll need some help doing this but I'm willing to make sure it happens.

It's only an idea for now so building rules will come later, but what does everyone think about it?

General Support / Making custom components
« on: January 05, 2018, 07:25:05 AM »
Hi everyone again,
Sounding stupid here but I need to make some of my own components for replicas.
Can I do so using Sketchup (I only have Sketchup because 3dsmax costs way too much)
If so, how do I make them work on RA2?
Thank you in advance for any help, that's if anyone understands lol

General Support / Armour strength
« on: July 23, 2017, 07:42:52 AM »
Can I increase and decrease strength of armour? I'm trying to make replicas that had almost impenetrable armour

30

So, remember a few years ago when I posted really cringe worthy things? I tried to do a replica tournament which sucked? well I'm sort of starting it again.

"Oh ffs he's gonna ask us for replicas again I can't take him anymore...."

Well, it's not going to be exactly the same as before. Once I fail my exams I'll be getting back into RA2 making robots and stuff. I'm making all the robots myself and doing small episodes and stuff before any big series'. I'll still be doing the Generation A where I'll try and make as many first generation robots as possible and cram them into one so it still make sense. Some that were different weight classes will be on the episodes before. Hopefully the robots will be better made now that I can bfe, bypass rule of 7 and skin slightly better.

Now I have Sketchup, I was thinking of making arenas like a better car park arena (or more than one like shown on the tornado website + indoor arenas with no floor functions: http://www.teamtornado.co.uk/rwim02.htm )and roaming robots arenas from the early 2000s such as the circle one and with a bit more knowledge on coding maybe the 2005 one with a flipper and pit. Then the RW arena with a lot of luck.

I was thinking the episodes will be posted on weekly basis, and shown with animations like pictures appearing over videos (I do have an idea of this even though it sounds weird or whatever) and keep going with ideas from GTM suggestions.

I did want to upload robots and videos on another account but I spoke to Trov and it can't be done, but I'm not bothered so much lol. Another thing I want is a voting poll for the end of tournaments from GTM and they'll be shown on the end of series'. Also an AI will be released with all the robots in the series included.

First of all, what should it be called and what tournaments should I make? Note I'm only doing Robot Wars and American Robot Wars robots (sorry to all "oh I'm only a Battlebots fan I hate how you only do RW robots) except if there was a version of a rw robot in battlebots like spitfire and little sister.

Anyway, and suggestions for an overall name IE "[name]: Generation A - Episode 1"?
(please keep it serious :D)

Off-Topic Discussion / picture save no transparency help
« on: May 17, 2016, 05:11:24 PM »
me again, needing help
("  jaydee, you are not making it easy for us to not call you a retard")
I'm trimming a template for my ra2 videos using paint, I'm erasing and cutting all unwanted bits and stuff.
How do I save it so the white bits don't show please?
Here's the picture, when opened it shows the white around the edges but I don't want them to appear, is there a way to put it over a video clip without the white showing as well on video makers such as Videopad?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help :)

So it's how it should be there, but when I go to test it this happens:

How do I fix this?

Other Tutorials / Copying Components Tutorial
« on: March 04, 2015, 03:57:32 PM »
Before you do anything, download these:
https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=91

https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Arena2/Tools/Dummy/makecfl.zip

Copying normal components IE Extenders, Batteries, Weapons and Extras:

Drag and drop the uncfl into the main directory and drag the components.cfz onto the uncfl file.
First, open up the bot in notepad++. Look down the file and it'll display all components used in the robot, and list them in the order they were placed. If the plate was placed last, it'll be the last Component listed. Look at the line that starts with Components. It'll have a / next to it, From there, if Styles/ doesn't follow components then look in the comonents folder. You will be looking for the txt file with the name of whatever follows Components/ in the bot file. Open it and look at the line with dir in it. Go into the folder that it says and then look at the model line in the txt. In the folder, it will have the gmf the txt file says it uses. Download the thing I've put in and Decompile it (It's simple, just click the top button and find the gmf, then do it again for the bottom button). Open the decompiled gmf with notepad++then scroll down to find this line:
(It'll normally be a bmp). Now look in the maps folder. Find the picture it says in the gmf file. There you can reskin the map. If its a tga file, open it with paint.net
If the code says Styles after Components, use the same method but look in the Styles folder for the txt file.

Wheels - and anything the Compiler doesn't accept:
Copy the desired gmf file and txt file for a wheel to somewhere you know you can find it. Like any other component. Open it with Notepad++ and find the line that ends with. bmp or tga. On some gmf files it's at the front of the file but in other's you'll have to scan along the top line for it. Note - it files like that usually have "(stuff)bitmap - example.bmp" so if you look for the "bitmap" line you know you're close. Take note of how many character's the line has; IE Let's say the original is called "boompow.bmp" notice it has 7 characters not including. bmp, so name you're custom one to something like "bombpow.bmp" so the thing doesn't crash the game. Now after you've found the bitmap line replace it with your own custom name, noting what I just said and move everything back to the component's folder. Note you DO NOT decompile the file as the component doesn't have a mesh/leaves only an attachment point.

Making a drop down menu:
First, make sure you've done the above before you do this for copying components and put the bmp's and gmf's in the right places but keep the txt files separate. Once you're sure, label everything is the same "type". If you're unsure, go into the txt file and look under "type = x". It's an optional choice what you want it to be but make sure it's labelled the same (no matter if it's a motor, or a weapon etc it'll have the original values only it's in a different place). Choose which component you'd like to be the one holding all the others in it's txt file and do the following:
Copy the text file names of all the files included in the drop down menu except the one holding the others including the. txt part and paste them individually in a clean txt file (it's optional, but it helps). Go into the txt files (except the holder) and delete the "styles" line. Now, drop all the txt files that will be included in the drop down menu into the "styles" folder. Go into the holder file and look under "styles". Delete the "Default" part and instead, after the "= ", put the name of what your holder component is (it can be anything you want) and a comma. Now after the comma go into that txt file and copy one of the txt file names and put a comma and what you'd like that to be called. Do this for all the rest of the components. So what it should look like in the end is something like this (as an example):
styles = da sheet, example.txt, the motor, comp.txt, even more, so_on.txt, last part
Save the file and drop it into the main "Components" folder.

Anyway, hope you found that useful, and good luck with your new skill!

P.S. If you don't have Notepad++, you're screwed but there is a download link on the "Downloads" Section.
