Haha! I kinda remember those.  I worked part-time at Wendy's for about 2 years.  Aside from the crazy shift hours (8pm to 3am) I really liked that job.

It was especially fun when we put Kaluha in the frosty machine during after hours.  mmmmmmmm...

OH! and you don't want to know how the Wendy's chili is made... If you found out you probably would stop eating it.  :P

I don't eat chili, and I'm in the mood for a laugh.  Please tell me.

Meat Scraps.

Because Wendy's cooks their burger patties fresh on the fly sometimes a few too many patties will get put on the grill and the demand runs out.  If the place is busy then the patties are cooked and put on the burger in a matter of minutes.  But if it gets slow sometimes the patties will sit on the grill (cooking) for up to 30 mins before they are too charred and burnt to serve.  Usually, by that point, they are little black charred bricks (or worse).  You would think that they would get thrown away after that, but no.  They are scooped up and put into a bin.  When the bin gets full (about 2 pounds of burnt patties) the bin is emptied into a sealed bag and put back in the freezer with a date on it.  The burnt patties are stored in the freezer for appx 2 days and then the opening cook is to pull the bag out and steam cook the patties until they are soggy enough to cut up.  The burnt/soggy meat is then chopped up and put into the pre-made chili sauce that is shipped to the location.

The gross part to me (because I was usually the grill cook) is that how overcooked some of those patties would actually get.

I loved the power of being the grill cook though.  A lot of times I would save a burger patty in the corner of the grill and neglect it a bunch so that it would get overcooked.  If we got some douchebag customer ordering and being a jackass about something I would snatch up my reserve "sh** patty" and make sure it ended up on his/her order.  Ahhhhhh POWER!

Heh, my dad would have probably got one of your crap pattys if he'd been over there, he's always complaining about food

Anyway, i've seen some of these before, a funny internet guy called spoony did a little commentary thing of them, aswell as a gamestop one (i think it was gamestop, I may be wrong, either way it was hillariously offencive).

It's made from beef, and that's more than I would have given them credit for.

I've worked fast food, crerative recycling doesn't particularly surprise me.  At the palce I used to work (not Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks) they'd just pour day-old coffee into a cooler and package it as iced coffee.

Unlike you though I never got trusted to handle food, so I just had to suck it up when a customer was rude.

Well, how they make the chili isn't as bad as stuff I read in a book. I read that there is a McDonald's where when they leave the patties over-night to thaw, rats pee and poop on them.  I also read about at a Burger King where 2 cooks would put their pee and bleach into the food. :dead:
