Tommy's Lego Bots.
« on: August 11, 2016, 12:34:56 AM »
I've been making Lego models of combat robots for about 8 years now. Here I'll be showcasing all the ones I currently got.

I always do tournaments with these things, and I've actually broken a few parts in the past with the weaponry, especially as of recently, since the designs have been evolving more and more.

To start this off is the non-competing test bot called Bulki:

He's a basic rammer bot with 4 wheel drive.
Back view:

Yeeeeah, not much to see here. I only did a shoddy job with this one. He's supposed to be able to take a lot of hits and do basic durability test with actual competitors. (By ramming them.)

These make-shift internals are supposed to represent the components of the bot. In this case, the red bricks are batteries, the black piece near the center is the control board, and the grey center-piece is the drive system. (Imagine the pegs on each side connecting to imaginary drive belts which drive the wheels. His drive set-up was inspired by Frostbite.)

Ok, here's a real competitor: Krongo:

He was made way back in 2009, and was hands-down my best flipper at the time. He was eventually retired, but yesterday was rebuilt into a new, more effective and realistic form.
Side View:

He's got an imaginary 2 wheel drive where the sloped pieces are, a powerful flipper at the front, and a spinning dome in the back.
The 2 horns are both aesthetic and can assist in self-righting somewhat. If his arm is positioned while upside down JUST RIGHT, his spinning dome will hit the floor, thus dragging him around the arena sideways, eventually bouncing off walls and tumbling back over. (Not that efficient, but kinda funny looking.)

Better view of the dome:

Here's a view of his internals:

The red bricks represent batteries, the white piece is the control panel, and the 2 black cylinders are CO2 tanks.

It doesn't really do any damage, but the noise it makes when it hits other bots gives off the impression of damage, thus scoring points, so it's not completely.

And I for one would like to see your lego designs. :D

Beck

A spinner designed around to crane pieces, it's a Tombstone-Wannabe.

Back view:

One of the few bots I have that don't have fake internals.

Next, The Big Bad Biter, my first crusher:

It's NOT a Razer clone!
Back View:

Insides:

Aaaand he self-rights from the sides, but gets stuck if he's completely upside-down:

Next, a mixture of Bite Force and DooAll, Grappler:

Side View:

In case you couldn't tell from his appearance, name, and inspiration from Bite Force, Grappler is a clamp-bot:

Back View:

Internals:

He also has interchangeable weapons:
So, what do you think?

Well, I guess I should be more careful with my spinners:

If you make something out of Lego that can cut skin, you've either done something right, or something horribly, horribly wrong.

Speaking of spinners, here's a vertical spinner, named The Emperor:

I always imagined Chinese Emperors in black and red.

Back View:

Here's a view of the insides (had to open up the frame to take this shot.)

(Yellow bits represent batteries. Blue thing is control board.)
Aaaand here's his scrimech in action:

Gee, this lego bot thing never really take off, did it?

Maybe if I presented replicas of the House Robots I could get more reception.
Let's start with Shunt:

No, there's no pullback motor.

Thanks!
Here's Sergeant Bash. I didn't have a lot of green parts so I made him blue, to represent the Navy. Eventually I went all-out with the navy theme and designed him to look like an aircraft carrier, complete with runway lines and rear propellers.

Gonna try posting multiple house robots this time and see if this site can handle it. (It may just be my computer)

Next we have Sir Killalot. This model has been flipped a hand-full of times throughout my dozens of tournaments, only because he's not heavy enough. The density of plastic makes it so that Killalot is more lightweight and flippable. Regardless, he's greatly feared since none of my lunatic spinners can damage him and only a few flippers can get him, and unlike in real life, this Sir Killalot can self-right.

27946480_198397020741989_1364830621_o.jpg

Next is Mr Psycho. Like Killalot, he's been flipped over before, usually toppling over. His hammer is over-sized because again, the density of lego, and I needed it to be heavy and dangerous. He's also got claws and...stuff.

Thanks m8!
Here's Mr.Psycho's pet pooch, Growler:

27946201_198867110694980_244364931_o.jpg

And here's MY version of Cassius Chrome. The original model, which I don't have a picture of, was too impotent and followed the real Cassius Chrome's design. So, I made this version, capable of "pneumatic" punching combined with living arms that make for a powerful uppercut. He can also self-right. Notice that I gave him a Mr.T Mohawk. Or is it Clubber Lang? I don't know boxing...

Cassius Chrome sucked so much, but I like this Lego version. Also Growler has a sort of dinosaur look to me but it's still awesome
