Title: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on August 11, 2016, 12:34:56 AM
I've been making Lego models of combat robots for about 8 years now. Here I'll be showcasing all the ones I currently got.

I always do tournaments with these things, and I've actually broken a few parts in the past with the weaponry, especially as of recently, since the designs have been evolving more and more.

To start this off is the non-competing test bot called Bulki:
He's a basic rammer bot with 4 wheel drive.
Back view:
Yeeeeah, not much to see here. I only did a shoddy job with this one. He's supposed to be able to take a lot of hits and do basic durability test with actual competitors. (By ramming them.)
These make-shift internals are supposed to represent the components of the bot. In this case, the red bricks are batteries, the black piece near the center is the control board, and the grey center-piece is the drive system. (Imagine the pegs on each side connecting to imaginary drive belts which drive the wheels. His drive set-up was inspired by Frostbite.)

so i'm not the only one doing lego battlebots apparently... i don't do precise internal setups tho... guess i could make a showcase thread for mine aswell

Ok, here's a real competitor: Krongo:
He was made way back in 2009, and was hands-down my best flipper at the time. He was eventually retired, but yesterday was rebuilt into a new, more effective and realistic form.
Side View:
He's got an imaginary 2 wheel drive where the sloped pieces are, a powerful flipper at the front, and a spinning dome in the back.
The 2 horns are both aesthetic and can assist in self-righting somewhat. If his arm is positioned while upside down JUST RIGHT, his spinning dome will hit the floor, thus dragging him around the arena sideways, eventually bouncing off walls and tumbling back over. (Not that efficient, but kinda funny looking.)
Better view of the dome:
Here's a view of his internals:
The red bricks represent batteries, the white piece is the control panel, and the 2 black cylinders are CO2 tanks.

i wonder if i should do a showcase for mine as well... nice design, wonder how effectvie is the spinner dome ?

It doesn't really do any damage, but the noise it makes when it hits other bots gives off the impression of damage, thus scoring points, so it's not completely.

And I for one would like to see your lego designs. :D

One of the few bots I have that don't have fake internals.

Next, The Big Bad Biter, my first crusher:

It's NOT a Razer clone!

Aaaand he self-rights from the sides, but gets stuck if he's completely upside-down:

Next, a mixture of Bite Force and DooAll, Grappler:

He also has interchangeable weapons:
So, what do you think?

Well, I guess I should be more careful with my spinners:
If you make something out of Lego that can cut skin, you've either done something right, or something horribly, horribly wrong.

Speaking of spinners, here's a vertical spinner, named The Emperor:
I always imagined Chinese Emperors in black and red.

Here's a view of the insides (had to open up the frame to take this shot.)

(Yellow bits represent batteries. Blue thing is control board.)
Aaaand here's his scrimech in action:

Gee, this lego bot thing never really take off, did it?

Maybe if I presented replicas of the House Robots I could get more reception.
Let's start with Shunt:

No, there's no pullback motor.

Here's Sergeant Bash. I didn't have a lot of green parts so I made him blue, to represent the Navy. Eventually I went all-out with the navy theme and designed him to look like an aircraft carrier, complete with runway lines and rear propellers.

Gonna try posting multiple house robots this time and see if this site can handle it. (It may just be my computer)

Next we have Sir Killalot. This model has been flipped a hand-full of times throughout my dozens of tournaments, only because he's not heavy enough. The density of plastic makes it so that Killalot is more lightweight and flippable. Regardless, he's greatly feared since none of my lunatic spinners can damage him and only a few flippers can get him, and unlike in real life, this Sir Killalot can self-right.

Next is Mr Psycho. Like Killalot, he's been flipped over before, usually toppling over. His hammer is over-sized because again, the density of lego, and I needed it to be heavy and dangerous. He's also got claws and...stuff.

And here's MY version of Cassius Chrome. The original model, which I don't have a picture of, was too impotent and followed the real Cassius Chrome's design. So, I made this version, capable of "pneumatic" punching combined with living arms that make for a powerful uppercut. He can also self-right. Notice that I gave him a Mr.T Mohawk. Or is it Clubber Lang? I don't know boxing...

Here's my last house robot, the Refbot. I made him a hybrid of the series 4 and series 5 refbot in that he has referee stripes, but also has a "counter system" (on one of his arms). The little spot on his plow is his "fire extinguisher"...located where his crotch might be.
The model pictured here has been updated since, and I'll show you that in a moment.
I know, this looks kinda ugly, but last tourney the robots kept getting tangled up, or wouldn't let go of each other or pinned an opponent down. So, I added a little thing I'd like to call "The Groping Claw". Then I added the classic Battlebots timer at the back. I think that part looks good.

Oh my god I love that little ref bot XD although I miss his triangle plow

But for now, here's the entire cast:
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ] That's 54 robots that I laid out. Add the house robots and that's 63 in total.

Unfortunately I don't know how to record it properly.

I can however introduce you to the bots heat by heat, and then just tell you who in that heat won.
Would that work?

Wut, No Luv?
(Probably should've expected that.)
Anyway, the winner was Nonja. The upgraded design tore through numerous bots, including the promising newcomer Blue Moose, whom he initially lost to in a matter of seconds in one of the rounds. After pulling through the loser's bracket, the two met again and Nonja kept his distance, smashing into Blue Moose's armor until eventually breaking the sides, which contained the "drive system".
Now on to our next heat!
Who do you think will win? Please comment down below your prediction and I'll reveal the answer in my next post.
Please leave a comment. I know at least 2 people are watching.

Lol I actually tried doing that earlier today. Didn't work out too well.
Going with Tornado of Terror

These LEGO bots are what I wish my old LEGO robots would have looked like, keep up the awesome work!
Thanks! Also, it's interesting that you went with Tornado of Terror, because...

Tornado of Terror won her respective heat! It was a close final between her and Creamsicle, but in the end her flipper was lower to the ground, thus she was able to send the Dutch robot oota.
I'm going for Rhino but my predictions have about 10% success rate when it comes to robot combat in any form
Well, you were close. Rhino was in the final 3.
Anyway, on to the next heat, the heat I did today!
So, which of these bots do you think has won the heat? Leave a comment down below as the comments are what keep this whole thread afloat.
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.

And the winner of last heat waaaas...Zerschlagen! It was a close final, between Germany's Zerschlagen and China's Snap Dragon. Snap Dragon proved durable and did defeat Zerschlagen in an earlier bout, but this time was different. Zerschlagen got a lucky hit on Snap Dragon's rear, which housed the "electronics" and such.

With that being said, on to the next heat!
Who do YOU think won the heat? What do you think of these robots? Leave a comment down below! (I'm gonna say that EVERY heat.)

going for Beta Dragonis
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on March 02, 2018, 09:41:39 PM
going for Beta Dragonis
Aaaaaand YOU'D BE CORRECT! It was a final between two rivals. Despite the upgraded flipper, Futerra 9000 lost not once but TWICE to Beta Dragonis, first in the round of the final 4, and then in the very final.

Now on to the next heat!
Who won this heat?
Leave your guess in the comments below! It's what keeps this thread goin'.

Woah, those are better than the ones from when I was a kid.
They weren't always this good. 8 years ago I made crude replicas of Comedy Central Battlebots competitors.
That crusher is a thing of beauty, and I love the 4 bar lifter. However I think Shadow has got this one
Thanks! You were close when you guessed Shadow, for he DID make it to the final, BUT...

...the winner of that heat was the 4 bar launcher DEBRANATOR! It was a pretty quick final. Debranator was unopposed throughout the entirety of the heat, one-shotting opponents out the arena, including Shadow. I believe one of Debranator's fights lasted only 3 seconds.

Anyway, on to the next heat...which, in my opinion, didn't look too spectacular. You'll see why in a moment.
Hopefully the images work, Imgur was being difficult with me, probably because I was uploading 13 pictures at once. Who do you think won out of this turd-fest? Leave your guess down below!

Turret Syndrome, just because of the name really  :laughing

Turret Syndrome, just because of the name really  :laughing
It is a great name, but unfortunately Turret Syndrome was the first bot to be eliminated that heat.

And the winner was...SON OF DORIS! It was a brutal final between him and Metal Scorpion, who used its weird lifter tactics to advance far. But, Son of Doris used it's crusher to break part of that lifter, and totally shattered Scorpion's chances by removing a wheel in the process.

Now we're on to the next heat:
Who won? Leave a guess down below! Or just comment on what you think of these competitors, either will do.

Prowler is beautiful and I'm rooting for it
Sadly...he was either the first or second robot to get eliminated. (I forgot which, I think I need to actually keep record of these damn fights.)

And the winner was...MANSLAUGHTER. He took on the swede machine Junko whom he tossed around relentlessly, but not as relentlessly as he did to Maximus, in an earlier bout, where he threw him into the arena back wall 4 times in a row.

Anyway, on to the next heat:
Who won? Leave a guess down below, and I'll tell you tomorrow whilst introducing our last set of competitors! See ya then!

Maybe Ramminator but this is a tough one to call as they all seems a pretty similar standards, no bot really stand out

Maybe Ramminator but this is a tough one to call as they all seems a pretty similar standards, no bot really stand out
He's a good bot, but, believe or not, he lost...

...to the walkerbot Silver Knight! It was a weird battle, Ramminator living up to it's name and ramming at his opponent, only to be twisted and turned around by Silver Knight's arms. A well-aimed poke in the right places took off not one but TWO of the wheels on Ramminator. Ramminator backed up into Mr.Psycho's hammer TWICE trying to line up for a big hit, getting damaged at the back, and also taking away strategy points that could've won him the match. Unfortunately, all he scored was aggression, whilst Silver Knight scored on damage.

But that's not the final. No, Silver Knight didn't even make it past the next round after that fight. No, the true winner of it all was...Beatle!

It was...a really boring final between Beatle and Onyx. I barely remembered the fight other than that it has to be unspectacular. I almost forgot it was Onyx who made it to the final in the first place.

Anyway, on to the next heat, which will introduce the last of our competitors:
So, who do you think is gonna win this one? Leave a comment below!

Also, what competitors do you think deserve a second chance? We've got 3 wild-card heats and 18 spots. 9 of them were taking up by the heat finalists that lost, but the other nine are up to YOU. I'll get a picture of them together and you can decide which ones get another chance. Choose wisely and be sure to read up on their respective heat descriptions. I'll organize them by heat as well. I don't remember the order in which they lost though. Sorry.

Circuit Chipper is pretty cool, rooting for it
Although a cool machine, unfortunately it didn't make it to the final.

Instead, the winner was KILL BOT KUN! It was against Skorpinoid. Despite Skorpinoid managing to take off a wheel, Kill Bot Kun later mad Skorpinoid take off into the air, and out of the arena!

And with that, that's all the robots in the tournament introduced. 9 winners, 45 losers. 9 of those losers will automatically get a wild card for making it into the finals, but the other 9 will be decided by YOU GUYS!

Unless, you know, nobody comments at all. :(

I'll make a picture soon of all the robots that are eligible to qualify for the 3 wild card heats. I'll see you then!

All your recommendations have been brought in to the wildcard! There were 5 fan-selected bots, 9 heat finalist bots, and 4 bots that I picked.

There will be 3 heats of 6, and the first one is today!

Who will win? Leave your guess down below and tomorrow I'll reveal who made it through.

Well,, you guys were close...

Gaspy did in fact make it through to the final, but lost out to...

TECHNOFREAK!

Gaspy just couldn't get underneath Technofreak soon enough, and Technofreak took control of the fight, and then took Gaspy, out of the arena.

Now then, onto the next six!

Going out on limb with Blue Moose
Aaaand...YOU'D BE CORRECT!
It was between him and swede machine Junko. Junko's weapon wasn't powerful enough to damage Blue Moose's armor, so it was only a matter of time before he got thrown out the arena. He actually ended up skewered on one of the arena poles that poke upwards, at the arena walls.

Time for the final wild-card:

And the winner was...FUTERRA 9000! It was a quick match between him and Shadow. After some flips and maneuvers Futerra got under Shadow's side and launched him out the arena.

Speaking of arena, this is what it looks like:

And the Semi-Finals 2 winners are:

And our champion, by surprise, is....

KILL BOT KUN! In the finals against Beta Dragonis, the two bots exchanged flips, some nearly going out the arena. Eventually, it happened. Kill Bot Kun got in on the side of Beta Dragonis and flipped him out of the arena, thus winning the championship!

https://imgur.com/EUggw0G
Congratulations Kill Bot Kun! Here's the coveted Tiny Nut trophy of Bot Wars, to symbolize your status as the champion of the main Bot Wars Tournament.

But the tournament isn't over yet. We've got some side events to do, such as the war of the weapons, US and World Championship, the rumbles, All Stars, Grudge Matches, and at the very end of it all, the house robot rebellion!

Which should I go with first? War of the weapons, which is where we segregate robots by weapon type and have them fight until there's only one of each left? And then pit them together in order to see who has the best weapon?

OR

Do we start the qualifiers for the World Championship, which include the US championship, The Japanese mini-tourney, and the Russian qualifier?

With that said, would you prefer having the world championships qualifiers?

And, so we have our winners:

For the Russian qualifier, the winner, once again, is ANDRE! Despite being dominated the first half, Andre managed to exploit a SEVERE design flaw on Triosk: It can get stranded on it's side. With this in mind, Andre prevailed once again and become the Russian representative for the second time now.

And as for the Japanese qualifier, the winner is...MANSLAUGHTER! It was in the finals, between him and Fallen Angel. Both bots drove quick and smart, but in the end, it was MANSLAUGHTER who made it through to the World Championships, via an OOTA flip on Fallen Angel.

Now, it's time for the first of the American Qualifiers, let's start up with heat 1:

Aaand...2 for 2, you're right again my dude!

It was a rather interesting heat, with Springer getting torn to pieces by Nonja and Ramminator one-hit KO'ing Vice Grip with a stab right through the innards (I million in one shot if you ask me) and of course, the final between Futerra and Ramminator.

Ramminator was clearly out-matched, which is probably why he threw HIMSELF out the arena, using Futerra's flipper as a ramp. Lawlz.

I quite like La Machine Reborn
Unfortunately, he didn't make it very far.

The winner...was PUMPJACK! It was a bit of a weird heat, mainly because it featured one of the most vicious house bot attacks in the history of Bot Wars! It was during the 5 bot melee. The house robots present were Sergeant Bash and Dead Metal. The moment the match started, the 5 robots attacked the house robots. Sergeant Bash had several plates broken off, and was flipped a bunch of times. Dead Metal got it the worst though. Not only did his entire left side get smashed off, but he was even thrown OUT THE ARENA. It was a humiliating day for the house robots.

Oh, and the runner-up was Shazam. I don't remember much about how the fight went, but it wasn't as notable as the house bot attack.

Now then, on to the next heat!
Who's gonna win? Well, you know the drill.

Go for it dude, I'll check it out!

As for Silver Knight, believe it or not he made it to the FINAL 3.

However, the overall winner is...ONYX! It was between him and Oscar, and Onyx's signature grappling abilities made it easy for him to send Oscar over to Mr.Psycho's hammer. Despite getting hit FIVE TIMES Oscar still was in one piece and moved fine afterwards. However, the hammering swayed my judge decision in favor of the crappy crusher Onyx.

Hoping for a Poseidon win
OOOHHH so close! He made it all the way to the finals, and what an epic journey it was.

Earlier on, in the main tournament, we saw abysmal performances by Poseidon in both his heat and the wild cards.

This one was different. He destroyed Big Bad Biter and Iron Golem in his path to victory. He even tore off one of Mr.Psycho's treads! In the final, he faced Debranator, and although he lost, it was THE most intense heat final I've seen in a long time. The first half consisted of Poseidon ducking and dodging Debranator's launcher, getting in some hits but losing on aggression. At first he tore out one of Debra's flipping "fangs", but after that nothing serious. At one point Debranator launched Poseidon nearly oota, but he was stopped by an impact into Cassius Chrome's face.

Then came the final 30 seconds, where he finally did more damage, tearing of Debranator's spoiler and a top armor plate. Final 7 seconds, Debranator launches Poseidon into the path of Mr.Psycho's hammer upside-down. Psycho takes revenge on Poseidon and hammers the vulnerable under belly, killing him. Last 3 seconds, and Debranator launches the dead Poseidon oota, in an epic conclusion to a great match.

Usually, I get pissed when flippers beat spinners, but this was a great fight, and Debranator earned that win.

Final heat, and this time there's 9 robots in it. So, let's get going!

So, who's winning this beast of a heat? Who are you rooting for? Leave your comments down below!

USO and SteamPunk Reject are both very nice, hopefully USO can pull a win. I like space themed robots
Well...you were close with one of them.

Very close. USO destroyed nearly ALL the competitors at some point in some round, including Steampunk Reject, who wasn't as durable as I had thought. The 5-way melee was amazing, I saw 4 bots try to gang up on USO, and they failed to take him out. They all took damage, one getting completely destroyed and another I think was simply immobilized.

It was the heat final between Rhino and USO, and interestingly enough Rhino was destroyed in a previous round by USO. It was the longest any robot had lasted 1on1 with USO that entire heat, but even Rhino's near indestructable design got obliterated in the final minute. However, he lucked out in the rematch in the heat final. All it took was a hit to the wedge and USO flipped itself over onto it's back, and lost. Rhino was technically the winner, but the true champ in my heart was USO. The pride of all the spinners in Bot Wars.

Anyway, enough chit-chat, here's our American grand final, in all of it's glory:
So this is the American Championship Final! Next I'll be deciding which bots who failed to make it to the world championship should get a second chance.

Anyways, who do you think is gonna win? Leave your guesses down below...

Correct!

Blue Moose is our American representative! It was a tense match between him and Futerra 9000. At one point Futerra got in a scuffle with the house robots, and went as far as to flip Growler, Cassius Chrome, and even Sir Killalot! Mr.Psycho was too heavy. Anyway, he got sent out of the arena by the vengeful Sir.K, who righted himself.

Another notable incident happened with Debranator, who was at one point thrown out of the arena, but then threw herself BACK IN. I forgot which round she lost in though.
Now then, on to the grand final, which is ALSO 9 bots!
Who's gonna be the world champion?

Unfortunately, he was the second bot to be eliminated. Strangely enough, the major world powers that were represented in this competition were eliminated early. China, America, then Russia. I think that was the order.

Aaand our world champion is...CREAMSICLE, from the Netherlands!

Yeah, it was a HUGE surprise for me too. Especially because it was against former world champion and Japanese representative MANslaughter. It wouldn't seem to make sense. Manslaughter was faster, had more flipping power, and was overall a more successful robot. Through dumb luck, Creamsicle threw MANslaughter out the arena, thus claiming the title.

Now then, on to the next event, possibly the final event:

The War of the Weapons!

Basically, I have every bot of a certain type of weapon, or range of weapons, fight eachother in qualifiers to see who is the best of their kind. I then take those bot and pit them against eachother to see which bot has the best weapon. Some bots are the only ones of their kind, so they get an automatic pass.

The automatic passes are-
These bots won't be fighting per se, but, they will be in the War of the Weapons Grand Final.

Now then, let's get to the smaller qualifying bouts first. None of these weapon groups can make a full heat, and I'm not combining them. I'll just cluster them all together as separate, mini heats.

First, here's the Crusher -Up, part 1:
Then we have Lift-Off!
And finally, SNS, FTW. Sit-n-spin, for the win!

So, who's gonna win the first Cruncher Crunch-up?
Who's gonna win the Lift-Off?
And finally, who's gonna win the SNSFTW?

Well...he WAS close. He made it to the final 3, but was ganged up on Iron Golem and Rhino. Thus, it was those two who made it to the finals.

And the winner was...

IRON GOLEM!

I know, it's weird, right? You'd think a bot as unimpressive as Iron Golem would lose to a younger, yet far more promising opponent. But, that's not the case. Although Rhino was very resistant to horizontal spinners, he was quite vulnerable to hammers. Iron Golem took advantage of this in the final. He even celebrated by getting into a fight with Mr.Psycho, and surviving, albeit losing an eye...and his shape.

Now then, on to the Crusher Crunch-Up Part 2!
Who's gonna win? Leave some guesses down below!

Really guys? No response for 5 days? Well, I guess I shouldn't be too mad. I mean, it's not like it's you guys' job to respond. Still hurts though.

Anyway, the winner was Big Bad Biter, and...I don't remember who he beat in the final. I waited too long for a response for the previous post and ended up forgetting the entire final. All I know is that he won.

I also remembered at the last moment that there was a fight that broke out between the house robots, specifically Sir Killalot and Cassius Chrome. What happened was that Killalot ended up throwing a competitor into CC's face, starting a brawl, with neither bot gaining any real advantage.

With that said, here's something a little more interesting than crushers, or at least I hope so. It's the flipper frenzy! Basically an annihilator-style tournament, numerous flippers will fight in a series of rumbles, with 2 bots getting eliminated each rumble. Those 2 will then have a playoff bout to see who is truly out. It's my little twist off a type of Robot Wars fighting tournament style.

I've also decided to separate some flippers due to their unique nature, giving them automatic qualification as a representative of their version of their weapon. These bots include-

Aaand now we have our rumble of flippers. Let's check-em out!

I remember Debrinator being a beast in the main comp
She automatically goes through on the basis that she's the only 4-bar launcher bot in Bot Wars.
Gaspy, as ever. Although Shazam is quite nice as well.
Umm...I think it was Gaspy who lost first, maybe second.
Shazam lost half-way through.

The most noticeable thing that occured throughout the first half of the Flipper Frenzy bouts was that Maximus kept picking a fight with MANslaughter, the bot that threw him into the wall 4 times in a row in the main tourney. He actually achieved vengeance, throwing MANslaughter out the arena and MANslaughter later losing the subsequent play-off bout.

And the winner of the Flipper Frenzy is...

BLUE MOOSE!

It was between him and Shadow. The two were evenly matched, but Shadow kept on getting into Mr.Psycho's corner, taking hits from his hammer. Eventually, Mr.Psycho knocked loose the internals on Shadow, and he was eliminated. While Sir Killalot snipped wheels and tossed Shadow around, Blue Moose attempted to lift Mr.Psycho, but failed. Psycho responded by pummeling Blue Moose with his hammer, but eventually he got toppled onto his side. Just as Killalot was about to intervene, the timer went out.

With that said, I'm making an announcement:

Since I'm having variants of weapon types count as a separate category from the main, the axe-bot Rhino is reinstated into the competition, as the sole axe-bot. The 5 hammer bots he fought will have a re-match, in the form of a small rumble.

In case you don't remember the other bots from the hammer-bot-special, here's the list. One of these bots will move on as the best hammer bot in the competition.
So, who's gonna win this time? Leave your guesses down below!

Unfortunately, Snap Dragon performed even worse this time around, his batteries once again getting dislocated, TWICE.

No the winner was Pumpjack, and he had to beat Iron Golem in the final. And OH MY GOD IT WAS BORING! Jesus Christ, I couldn't even commentate on it! It was SOO BAD.

Anyway, time to wash that bad taste outta my mouth with the final weapons qualifier: The Spin-Off!

3 different kinds of horizontal spinners will be tested: Full Body Spinner, Directional Spinner, and Full Body Spinner. There's 12 bots, and each one will participate in a destruction-derby style competition where they destroy as much stuff as possible within a certain time limit.

Here's the bots! One bot from each category will move on to the weapon war finals.
Overhead Spinners:
Directional Spinners:
Full Body Spinners:

Now, you're probably wondering what exactly these bots are destroying, so, I'll show you. Most of these came from a lego set I bought a month ago for spare parts, but some of the designs I made myself:

I'll award different amounts of points for different things getting damaged or destroyed. HOPEFULLY I can still collect all the pieces by the end of it.

Thanks! I have our 3 winners!

For overhead spinners, the winner is Zerschlagen!

For directional spinners, it's Nonja!

And for full body spinners, the winner is...Circuit Chipper?

That's right, not U.S.O, but the old legend Circuit Chipper. I don't know how, but the amount of destruction Circuit Chipper did was higher, more stuff was broken, despite U.S.O clearly being more powerful in combat.

This can be changed however. Which bot would YOU rather see move on? Circuit Chipper or U.S.O? Maybe a play-off battle?

Also, I'm taking a break from the tourney, kinda got stale doing it every day, and then every other day. I want the finale to be epic. I'm thinking of a great round robin style tournament. What do you guys think?

Aaaand it's been decided! I had a play-off battle between Circuit Chipper and U.S.O, and it ended in 2 hits.

The winner...

CIRCUIT CHIPPER!

Yup, he still moves through. His weapon destroyed U.S.O's structural integrity.

With that being said and done, it's time for the ULTIMATE finale, a round-robin style tournament where everyone fights each other 1-on-1.

Let's introduce our competitors!

A lot of bots, and this is the ULTIMATE finale to Bot Wars, the War of the Weapon Finale! It's a round-robin-style tournament, where each bot fights each other, we means we will know FOR SURE, which one of these bots is the best of the best! There's 16 bots, so there's gonna be 120 fights in total, so I'll have to break it up into parts. It'll take me a while to do all the fights. 15 rounds with 8 fights each.

Who do you think will win the most rounds? Leave a comment down below!

Aaall right! Time for the first round!

As I've mentioned before, there will be 15 round, each round having 8 fight. A Bot Wars style-heat has 10 fights, so this should work.

This will be the match-ups for the first round:

8 rounds, 8 bots, 8 winners, 8 losers.

Which 8 bots do you think will be the winners?! Leave a comment below, and for the love of GAWD, don't just list ONE robot's name. Is it really that hard to type these bot names?

Here's the results!

Vice Grip VS Triosk. Winner: Triosk
It was a pretty bland fight, neither bot's weapons were able to take the other one out. Triosk however got some good hits near the end, thus securing his win.

Prowler VS Dozer. Winner: Prowler
Prowler went ape-sh** crazy on Dozer, using its weird design to crawl all over Dozer, who's rear end literally FELL off early on in the fight. Prowler's constant aggressive attack combine with some good pushing gave him the win.

Rhino VS Zerschlagen. Winner: Rhino
Zerschlagen put up a decent effort against Rhino, swatting away his opponent's axe weaponry numerous times. However, at one point Zerschlagen got his weapon stuck on the low wall of the arena, getting pinned and losing.

Yin-Yang VS Pumpjack. Winner: Pumpjack
Pumpjack's weaponry alone didn't do much. No, it was Mr Psycho's hammer that did Yin-Yang in, after he pushed Pumpjack into the corner, endangering both him and his opponent at the claws of Mr.Psycho.

Ramminator VS Big Bad Biter. Winner: Big Bad Biter
Big Bad Biter simply picked off all of Ramminator's wheels, securing his win.

La Machine Reborn VS Circuit Chipper. Winner: La Machine Reborn
Yup, that's right, La Machine Reborn secured the win over Circuit Chipper by flipping him out of the arena. (Ok, it was more like pushing him over the low arena wall.)

Debranator VS Silver Knight. Winner: Debranator
Do I even need to explain? An unceremonious Oota for our knight of the realm. (The knight that isn't Killalot.)

Blue Moose VS Nonja. Winner: Blue Moose
Blue Moose was always the superior machine, enduring some hits before out-maneuvering and flipping Nonja Oota.

All right, on to round 2!

Who's gonna win? Leave a prediction down below!

I'll see you guys...uhh...probably not tomorrow, most likely the next day. I'll be working on my Mr.Psycho replica in DSL2.2

Anyone here? Starting next heat I'm adding FULL fight summaries which are written after every match, that way you can tell how these robots fight, how they won, how they lost, and so forth. So, is anyone still here? I'm eager to post the next round, but I don't like double-posting, hence why I'm so beggy for comments.

**** it, more posts together it is. 4th post in a row, doesn't matter.

Anyway, here's the results of the previous round, this time with full fight summaries. Here we go!

Rhino VS Dozer
Vice Grip VS Ramminator
Prowler VS Pumpjack
Triosk VS Zerschlagen
Yin-Yang VS Circuit Chipper
Debranator VS Big Bad Biter
La Machine Reborn VS Nonja
Blue Moose VS Silver Knight

On to Round 3! (I'm not doing predictions this time, cause I think it jinxes the fights.)

So, who are you guys rooting for?
Title: Re: I'm Sorry/Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on May 03, 2018, 08:37:37 PM
I'm not sure if anybody is still reading these, but to those who still care, I'm sorry. I keep begging for comments and expecting you to spend time typing just to fuel a man-child's hobby. I'm not sure if it's that, or just that this has gotten stale. All I know is that I've expected too much interest in something that initially got almost nobody's attention. And no matter what I do, it's just gonna stay that way. Or just fade into obscurity, which it probably already has.

Regardless, I'm finishing what I started, and for anyone who's interest in the tournament returns to them, I'll be sure to give brackets and battle descriptions. After this round robin tournament, I'm gonna revise all the competitors. Upgrade them, rebuild them, scrap them, make new bots, revive old retired bots, basically resetting everything and make things fresh again.

Right.

At this point I'm just finishing the tournament the way I started it: On here.

At the moment, I've been delayed not because I'm waiting for replies, but rather because I'm doing it at my own pace. That and I got REALLY invested in the anime My Hero Acadamia, took up my free time.
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on May 10, 2018, 09:51:43 PM
Ok, sorry for the delay, I was typing ALL kinds of descriptions and stuff and at the last second I accidentally clicked exit tab. I tried reopening it and it didn't save ANYTHING. It briefly ruined my interest in running this tournament. It's difficult, I enjoy doing the tournaments, but I hate all the writing. But, if I ever want to remember these fights, let alone share them with you, I need to do it.
Here's the results of last round:
Triosk VS Ramminator
Rhino VS Pumpjack
Vice Grip VS Debranator
Prowler VS Circuit Chipper
Dozer VS Zerschlagen
Yin-Yang VS Nonja
Blue Moose VS Big Bad Biter
La Machine Reborn VS Silver Knight

Aaaand now, time for round 4:
Who's gonna win? Well, hopefully I'll post the results soon. I gotta get this tournament finished before my family and I start moving to a new house.
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on May 16, 2018, 11:12:22 AM
Giving Dozer the win if it can pin its opponent

Debranator is a menace, but I hope Triosk would win

Hopefully Circuit Breaker, it looks pretty cool

Blue Moose

Prowler for the meme

Ramminator

Yin Yang

Rooting for La Machine Reborn

Gotta say, even though I don't really post here much, these bots are really cool!

Thanks dude! Sorry for the late reply, I tend to reply along with posting the next round, and since posting the next round is such a chore, I kinda don't do these as often.

Because of that, starting next round I'm just gonna post the fight results, and not do summaries. Just WAY too much work.

But for now, here's this:
Dozer VS Pumpjack
Triosk VS Debranator
Vice Grip VS Blue Moose
Prowler VS Nonja
Ramminator VS Zershlagen
Yin Yang VS Silver Knight
La Machine Reborn VS Big Bad Biter

Aaand onto round 5:

So, who's gonna win? Find out hopefully soon, since from now on I'm not doing fight summaries. The more work I have to do for this series, the less motivated I am to do it, and considering that I'm moving soon, I've gotta get this done ASAP.

Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on May 22, 2018, 02:09:05 PM
...yeah, ASAP my ass. I'm still not able to do this thing regularly. I'm fighting with the same robots over and over again. It's not as interesting as it was before. But at the same time, I also want to know the results of this tournament, and I'm not letting it pass. That and I keep getting these crazy surprises. Unfortunately, I didn't write down what happened, I got tired of having to type millions of paragraphs that only interest me.

I regret that decision. That round had some crazy fights, and I didn't type anything about them.

I'm gonna try recording them this time, and then use a different format that makes editing easier.

With that said, here's the results of last round, with vague descriptions of what I could remember of the fights.

Here's Round 6:

Who's gonna win? When will I post the results? We'll find out later on! See ya then.
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on May 29, 2018, 07:11:03 PM
Again, not much motivation to type these paragraphs. But I'd feel bad for not writing them. Makes me wish I could just record them with a camera. But until then, here's some fight reviews:

And here's the brackets for this round:
WHEW! This format is WAY easier to work with. Who's gonna win? Find out next time I eventually post something! Comments would always be appreciated!
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.

Alright, I'm back, I had to stop the tournament because I moved to a new house, and the carpeting there I initially thought wouldn't work as an arena floor. However, I was wrong. Turns out, it CAN work, which means I don't need to build a wooden arena. All I have to do now is just rebuild the arena I had before and start this thing back up again.

With that said, here's the long over-due results for Round 7 of the War of The Weapons final tournament:

I won't be putting up the fight brackets for next round JUST yet, I've gotta rebuild my arena first.

I'll also be posting the mid-tournament battle-stats, listing how many wins and losses each bot has had so far.

Please leave a comment below so that I know you, the audience, are still there. It's been a while.

I'll see you all then!

Ok, so I got some bad news: I decided to cancel the rest of the WOTW tournament. It was just dragging on for WAY too long.

But, here's some good news: A brand-new tournament is in the works featuring rebuilt competitors and rebuilt house robots, in a BRAND NEW arena!

Since my phone is broken, I'll have to use my laptop webcam to take pictures. I'll post some screenshot of the progress I'm making on the house robots!
Title: Re: Tommy's Lego Bots.
Post by: TommyProductionsInc on October 22, 2018, 01:42:18 PM
Ok, so I used my chromebooks webcam to take these pictures.

Here's a WIP of the revisions of the original house robots. This time, they're customized in design to be more combat effective, rather than more accurate.
First up is Shunt:
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Shunt is gonna get new bigger horns at the sides, that way when he's flipped, he'll only land directly on his head, from which he'll be able to self-right, with his new, GIGANTIC pickaxe!
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Next up, Matilda. Matilda will be the first bot in Bot Wars history to use a METAL weapon. An old rusty bar I found in the middle of the street. He proportions will be changed to accommodate for her literal big ass spinner. Plus her tusks have been reverted to their more classic setup.
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Next up, Sgt. Bash!
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
The first house robot to be revised, Bash is simply gonna be bigger, badder, and brutaler. His crushing beak is bigger, and he's getting a longer flame-thrower. I'm also gonna make him look more like a submarine instead of an aircraft carrier, that way he's less vulnerable to vertical spinners. He won't look as cool, but he'll be harder to damage.
Next, Dead Metal!
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
New bionicle claws and a study chassis for starters. Later, I'll add his saw mechanism, and for the sake of simplicity I'll be using the old system Dead Metal used in Robot Wars series 1 and 2. It'll be modified so that he can even self-right.
Lastly for today, Sir Killalot!
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
He's gonna be MUCH heavier this time around. His arms will enable him to self-right, assuming he can even be flipped anymore. He's also got articulated elbow joints, just like his real life counterpart! He's also using more bionicle parts for decoration, as well as a butt-load of technic parts for durability.

Next time, I'll show off the other 4 house robot in their current WIP states!

Oops, forgot to show the rest. Oh well. Here's the finished version of Mr.Psycho and Matilda. As you can see, their designs deviate from the originals: Psycho uses wheels, wheelguards, and a red plow to fight off spinners, and Matilda uses a gigantic metal bar I found on the street, as well as self-righting wings. I wish I could add a sri-mech to Mr.Psycho, but couldn't. (Maybe later)

(BTW I don't ship these two. I'm a MatildaXShunt kind of guy.)

Speaking of which, here's Killalot. SIR Killalot.
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
He's still a space marine, but now with a medieval flair, with the Bionicle Hordika chestplate and foot-piece. I gave him wings because I thought they made him look better. He's only SLIGHTLY heavier than Matilda, and of course lighter than Mr.Psycho. I'm worried that out of the original four, Matilda is going to be disproportionally the largest and heaviest.

What do ya'll think of these redesigns so far?

Thanks! Here's Shunt:
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Tough body shell, wider plow, and HUGE horns at the sides, designed to help in self-righting.

His axe goes all the way back, meaning I had to remove the rear plow, but that also means if he's ever turned over (which will be hard due to the horns) he can flip himself back over with his axe.

The horns set him up so that when he's flipped, there's only 2 positions he can land in: flat on his back, or flat on his face. Either way, he can self right.

(Side note: His axe looks like a sickle, which would fit in with his bio as a soviet drone.)

I don't feel like making instructions. Not interested.

Anyway, here's an updated Mr.Psycho, Dead Metal, and a new version of Growler!
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Dead Metal has new tail stingers, Mr.Psycho has a rebuilt abdomen and beefed up arms, and then there's Growler.

I'm not too proud of this one, but this is the best I can do for now. He's big, he's solid as a brick, he has teeth, he has double-jointed jaws, and he can self-right. (I didn't put a piston/linear actuator thing in the srimech like I did with Dead Metal because I ran out of that kind of part.)

I based him off of....ok, I'll be honest: I have no clue anymore. I couldn't make him green because I don't have enough parts, I can't make him a submarine because that's a boring design, and the aircraft carrier design was vulnerable to VS. So I just...made this.

Some sort of mobile fortress thing...I guess...oh, and he can self-right with the flame thrower.

Rebuilt the base of Cassuis Chrome. Reinforced arms and a 4 wheel drive.
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
(Fun fact: I used to think the original Cassius Chrome had a 4 wheels drive, but I was wrong. He had 2. So I redesigned my version to have 2 wheels. But that version always fell on it's face, due to being top-heavy. He always tripped up on his wedge too. So, I'm putting him back to 4 wheel drive.)

I know I said I wouldn't built competitors until my Legos are organized. Regardless, I got bored and took a small pile of legos and created some robot prototypes (a regular competitor ended up in here somehow).

Due to the limited range of parts used, most of these bots look like crap compared to the regular ones I make. Regardless, here you go:
Oh look, it just so happens that there's 6 bots here. Gee, I wonder what would happen if I had a mini-tourney with these guys.

Which one do you think would win? Also, got any name ideas? Leave a comment below!

Thanks!

The winner of that heat was Bot #4, or as I like to call him, Mr.Beating Stick. It was between him and Technofreak in the finals.

One thing worth noting was the major disappointment that was Bot #3, who I'm not calling "Blitz". He somehow unbalances constantly and can't reach full speed without toppling over. He can also be left stranded on his head.

I'm gonna try another mini-tournament, this time a Battlebots fight-night inspired tournament, consisting off all the robots I rebuilt prior to the decision to organize my legos.

Alright, I gathered up 24 bots who's been improved since last tournament, and even a few newcomers, and I'll list them out here. But first, a picture will help:
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
The bots listed are listed from top to bottom, left to right:

Row 1: White Privilege, Creamsicle, Big Bad Biter, Snappin' Dragon
Row 2:Onyx, Blue Moose 2.0, All American Redneck, Bigfoot
Row 3: Circuit Chipper, Zerschlagen 1.1, Gaspy, Beetle
Row 4: Junko, Nonja, Prowler V2, La Machine
Row 5:Gory Glory, Ramminator, Silver Knight II, Debra
Row 6: King Kill-shot, Deku, Dozer 2, and lastly, Death Jester.

What fights would you guys want to have happen? Each bot get's 4 fights with...somebody.

EDIT: Also, deadline for requests is by Friday. Kinda wanna get things moving here.

White Privilege vs All American Redneck
Beetle vs Ramminator
Junko vs Gory Glory vs All American Redneck
Deku vs Gaspy
Creamsicle vs Big Bad Biter vs Snappin Dragon
Prowler vs Ninja
La Machine and Deku vs the House bots
Zerschlagen vs Nunjo
Gory Glory vs Zerschlagen
Dozer 2 vs Ramminator
Onyx vs Creamsicle
Death Jester vs Bigfoot
Gaspy vs Silver Knight 2
Debra vs Blue Moose
King Kill shot and Gory Glory vs Circuit Chipper and Deku
That's all my suggestions

Ooh, nice suggestions! I only had 1v1 matches in mind, but maybe I can work in tag-teams and rumbles. I'll see what I can do.

Alright, suggestion time is over, time to write up the brackets!

Alright, the fights have been listed and counted.

44 rounds for the fight-night bracket, then a top-16 tournament afterward.

I just need to figure out how to categorize the fights properly. I think I'll do 4 fights per post, with descriptions on each fight. That would lead to 11 fight-night "episodes" and the top 16 would have...4 episodes?

I'll have each post feature a "main event" amongst the 4 fights that episode.

The brackets have been set!

I'll be starting it up today.

I need to start a tournament, too. Thanks for the idea, Tommy!

I hope your tournament comes out well, it's already off to a good start.

Welcome back to Bot Wars! This isn’t an official tournament, just a test run.

(Ok, it’s pretty much a serious tournament, I admit.)
First and foremost, the rules and format should be brought up before going to our first episode:

The tournament format is the same as season 8 of Battlebots, a fight-night format with a main event each episode. My tourney will have 4 fights per episode. The rules to win a match are simple: Beat the ever-loving crap out of your opponent in a K’nex arena until either they’re immobilized, destroyed, out of the arena, or until the 5-to-7 minutes are up. 1v1 fights are 5 minutes, and 1v1v1 fights are 7 minutes. Bots who pin opponents eventually have to let go after 10 seconds.

Hazards in the arena include some wall-saws on the north and south walls of the arena (they don’t do much) The MAIN hazard is the house robots, which I stole from Robot Wars, and tweaked to be more effective as lego combat robots. They are-
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
-SHUNT
This horned beast features bigger horns, an axe that can double as a srimech, a wider lifting plow, reinforced wheel-guards, a lack of a rear plow, and lastly, some giant-ass horns in order to guarantee that if he’s flipped, he lands directly on top of his axe, making it possible to self-right (this wouldn’t work in real life…)
-MATILDA
Looking like a pig with wings, Matilda has her classic tusk configuration and a black body with srimech “wings” to help with self-righting. She also features rusty spinning metal bar that I found on the street. Doesn’t spin fast, but it hits harder than any other vertical spinner I’ve equipped her with.
-SERGEANT BASH
I have NO idea what his design is based off of anymore, but whatever. Back in blue to leave you black and blue, he features a HUGE crushing jaw augmented by a sturdy scoop. He also features an elongated flame-thrower that can double as a sri-mech. ATTEEEEENTION!
-DEAD METAL
Dead Metal returns with his saw system, which is STILL useless. Regardless, he can clamp on to even the deadliest of bots with those solid pincers of his, and with his new self-righting tail, he’s less defenseless than ever!

-SIR KILLALOT
Bigger than ever before, he can’t self-right but doesn’t need to. Armed with stronger arms and his trusty lance-and-claw setup, he’s the king of cruelty in all of Bot Wars. He’s also decked-out l=to look like a spaceship because I was low on parts and ideas at the time.
-MR PSYCHO
The craziest of the house robots, still with the menacing hammer and claws combo. Featuring wheels and a giant plow that’s only red because that’s the only color I could find the parts in. His hammer strikes harder and heavier this time around, so you best watch out.
-GROWLER
The doggy of hell returns (no, not Cerberus.) Finally featuring a set of jaws durable enough to take on anything, this bot is a literal brick on wheels and comes equipped with a srimech.
-CASSIUS CHROME
Once a total joke, this bot was long since been revised in lego form to be better, but now, he’s one of the big three. The big three being Killalot, Psycho, and now, Cassius Chrome, who might actually be the HEAVIEST house robot now. He has punching piston arms that can move up and down, a 4 wheel drive system and hefty plow that may-or-may-not be vulnerable to hammers.

Alright, enough talk, now it's time to actually do some robot fighting. I'll post up "episode" 1 later today, Just gotta do it first.

Here's the fights for episode 1 btw. Leave your predictions on the winners below!

Alright, time for Episode 1! After much trial and error I finally got down a format for episodes: I list each fight with a description of what every bot involved in it did, and what the end of the fight meant. These respective performances are also copied to each individual robot involved, competitor or house robot. With that said, let's go!

First up, Circuit Chipper VS Snappin' Dragon VS Junko:

Alright, time to take a look at episode 2's fight card:

Our first fight is essentially between 2 total nobodies. It's time to see which bot sucks less...I guess...
Bigfoot VS Dozer 2
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Bigfoot:

Dozer 2:

The next fight is an interesting rematch from last tourney. La Machine was so brutally and utterly destroyed by Nonja that I actually STRUGGLED putting him back together. Can he get his revenge here against Nonja, who's currently 0-1 in the competition? (Forgot to mention the outcome of his fight with Zerschlagen. Oops)
Nonja VS La Machine
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Nonja:
La Machine:

Next up it's a newbie against a veteran, in a battle of the boxes. I'm actually looking forward to this fight, which is essentially any robot combat television producer's worst nightmare.
Ramminator VS Deku:
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Ramminator:
Deku:
And last but not least, we see if this adorable former-walker can be a SERIOUS competitor, as he takes on the seriously devastating veteran Circuit Chipper, who's only 0-1 because of a scuffle with Sir Killalot himself!
MAIN EVENT:
Silver Knight II VS Circuit Chipper:
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
Silver Knight II:

Circuit Chipper:

Who's gonna win? Feel free to leave a guess, but we're gonna find out soon enough!

(Well, ok, it'll take a day or two to go through the fights and writing the summaries for everyone. You've got some time...)

Okaaaaaaaay, so, bad news:

Something came up, and I'm gonna need to take a break from the tournament.

Everything's ok, it's just that all my interest in this spontaneously shifted to a different project. Might be a little while before it shifts back.

I'll TRY to get some more done, but "episodes" won't be occurring as often.

Alright, back in the groove of things. Just finished up the fights for episode 3. I'll be changing up the judging criteria though. It needs improvement, plus, this is just a test tourney, meant to experiment and test stuff. I also simplified the episode format so that there's less stuff to read and it also takes less work to make.
