I'm kind of like that. I physically can't talk to someone I don't know, unless it's some kind of emergency. However, I can type to them, and talk on the Internet just fine.
As for the physical impact, yes, very much so. I don't have fits like that, but I end up doing things I can't control, and I frequently feel like I'm being tortured

However, I wouldn't say that every person with any form of Autism is like that

i have had some speech problems (i wouldn't talk until i was about 3, or atleast nothing more than a few words at a time) and even now i stumble on words fairly often. i'm not so bad when it comes to new people now because i always dick about in school and that has pretty much made me fearless when it comes to new guys. girls are a different matter though :P

i might have some form of it but i guess i must've grown out of it.
