Title: Syphers "serious" music
Post by: Sparkey98 on November 20, 2010, 08:45:43 PM
I got tired of making crappy remixes so I'm gonna start trying origonal content

original*

And that sure is original, but there's something that bothers me about it, I feel like when the beat starts over, there's a short pause that separates it too much...if that makes sense.

That's the swing. I'm still having trouble getting it to cut out the cut (lol.) because whenever I do it cues the loop too late.

Ah I see, I can sort of see how that can be a bit hard.

Well, like I said before, you sure got the original part down.

I can tell you're using using one of those pre-rendered drumloops from FL studio I gave you. I suppose playing it over and over again and distorting it is really original.

Bravo.

By the way, it tells you what BPM the drumloop is right in the title.  You should have synced it perfectly.

Also, if anyone isn't convinced, heres the original drumloop wav:

Right, just check the download and tell me that isn't the same loop.

EDIT:
Oh sorry, you in your infinite wisdom you raised the pitch and thus made it a different BPM.

Please inform me if I'm incorrect, but wouldn't using theese beats in FL also be uncreative? I may have only altered a simple drum loop, but it's not like it's a full song mixed ontop of another.

Using them in FL Studio is fine if looping it over and over isn't what you plan to do.  I'll admit I even use the drumloops occasionaly, but I not only cut them up, re-order the pattern, and run them through filters, but I also put an entire song with complete melodies and et-cetera on top of them.

What you did was just take the loop, distorted it, raised the pitch, and called it a song.

I knew you'd eventually try to do this.  I regret giving you those loops.

Well I apologize for trying something new. I might as well get a lobotomy so I can be like every other run-of-the-mill producer theese days. Uncreative and trendy.

Learn to play the guitar or something, or drums.

They're certainly more creative than you've been, considering their songs have melodies.

If I were you, I'd drop whatever crappy software you're using and either get a legit digital audio workstation and/or play a real instrument.

So you took two loops which you didn't make, and phased them over each other out of sync.

Again, bravo.

There's a difference between being an elitist know-it-all prick and pointing out the fact that your "music" is a bunch of stolen loops you threw together.

Put some god-damned effort into your music and stop stealing loops, then I'll stop giving you crap.

The high point of my music career is this unfinished masterpiece I made on an old SE phone (5 years ago or so, I was bored as heck), combined from samples from different styles (I remember there was stuff like samba, techno, whatever. I mixed them all :D).

Serge's "masterpiece" is fun and cool and swingy. It remembers me of 8-bit videogame music (but less ear raping).

Sparkey's last thing, however, is boring.

While chiptune can be quite ear-raping, there are some songs which are just lovely. If you have a few minutes of eartime to spare, check out this (http://ng.q3k.org:5700/necta/Ex_State_of_Mind.mp3). It was composed for a C64 SID.

Oh, and if you want to hear some ear rapery (28 minutes of it), listen to this (http://ng.q3k.org:5700/necta/Scavenger,%20Synergy%20-%20Megademo%20Wicked%20Polygons%203%20(Period%20in%203D).mp3). You have to be a hardcore chiptune fan to like it.
