Title: Rants on Television
Post by: MassimoV on January 23, 2012, 06:20:52 PM
Here's a thread where you can rant on different channels, shows, etc.

It's easy for me to say I'm pissed off at Nickelodeon. It's being filled up with unfunny situation comedies which are not only unfunny, they trick you into thinking they're funny. Those stupid laugh tracks just fool people into thinking piss poor writing is funny. Shows like iCarly, Victorious, Bucket and Skinner, and so on need to stop being produced. I'm not saying. Nick should only do cartoons, I liked the Amanda Show, All That, and Pete and Pete, but the stuff they're making now is a slap in the face to programming. It's a large crap stain on the face of television. They had so many good shows previosly with Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats, and Rocko's Modern Life. But then Viacom took over and made it one of the biggest HQ of worthless celeberty vomit. Viacom turned the channel into a transitional station into MTV (but I'll talk about that later).

^this. Spongebob is the only thing left that is good on that channel.

Cartoon Network is going downhill as well. Really, who watches "Hole in the wall"?

Screw the BBC

One simple reason. Mongrels got cancelled
The one show I start really really liking and THEY GO AND CANCEL IT
They could have gone at least one more series without it getting stale

Cartoon Network cancelled Hole in the Wall, Destroy Build Destroy, and Dude What Would Happen. And thank goodness. Those shows were so bad it was painful being in the same room. Out of Jimmy's Head was the most appauling sack cancer pus that has ever been brought into this mortal coil, but I'll talk about that later. Too bad they're bring in this retarted bull crap called Level Up. It's called Cartoon Network for a reason... TO PLAY FRIEKING CARTOONS! I honestly think there should be a seperate channel to play all the crappy sit coms so normal functioning human beings don't have to deal with this garbage!

It's just a rip off of a Japanese game show. Unfortunately, only Japan can make something that stupid actually work.

I stopped watching cartoons after 2004. When I watched tv, I always watched history channel. (because back then it was actually about history)

I have officially given up on Disney Channel. They are the lowest form of television. This is the company who brought Mickey Mouse, Snow White, and many others. But now... but now it's awful the ONLY good show is Phineas and Ferb which can sometimes be cheesey. Everything else is a sit com. Not one of them has no laugh track. It's a sad fate of the greatest animation studio. There are other toons like Kick Buttowski or Fish Hooks, but they blow. Disney is now such a let down I'm thrown into an rageful cyclone or misery and despair every time I hear the name. Maybe one day, it will return to its normal Disney self.

Even Stevens was awesome. The plots of Disney Channel's shows have gone from out of the ordinary to "some boy likes me!"
Title: Re: Rants on Television
Post by: MassimoV on January 23, 2012, 09:51:05 PM
Exactly. I could deal with some of their non-animated shows back in the day. Even Steven, Mickey Mouse Club, even (Though I hate to admit it) Phill of the Future. Now it's mindless garbage being slowly squeezed out the unholy turdhole of Disney writers.

And there really are so few good cartoons these days. That's probably one of the reasons My Little Pony is so popular. It's actually one of the few good new cartoons. Adventure Time is pretty awesome too, and Nickelodeon plays classic cartoons from the 90's late at night.

Back then when I was watching cartoon network (something like 15 years ago), t'was Dexter's Laboratory, Inspector Gadget and other old cartoons. Was good.

Now I have no idea what is on it.

the original cartoons on cartoon network were the best like ed, edd n eddy, dexters lab, cow & chicken. now the newer cartoons are just ruining it like chowder and the amazing world of gumball, most of the newer cartoons are just completely random with no sense of comedy about them, the only newer cartoon that is any good IMHO is adventure time

When Robot Wars stopped I was stuck with nothing to watch after school so I spent all my time alone and doing hardly anything except talking to myself. And when I eventually found something interesting I had to go and have tea. So basically I'm blaming the lack of Robot Wars for my loneliness. Then I found the re-runs on Jetix but it was only 30 minutes long! So I watched it but I was asking myself why wont they show interviews with the teams befor matches and the battle stats? Where are the Featherweight matches and World Championship Qualifires too? So that made me annoyed.

Another thing that bugged me was QUEST taking off the old episodes of MythBusters. I was enjoying the early series and I liked Scotty too. I was looking for a particular Myth that they ware testing but it always skipped the episode I wanted to see.

Challenge doesn't like me either cos it stopped playing Pointless and it never shows Catchphrase or Takeshi's Castle or Ninja Warrior when I'm not at school and when I watch on the weekend it's usually doubles of Bullseye or Golden Balls. That really annoys me.

I had a rant about BBC4 once but I can't remember any of it. The most recent thing is that they've started showing Suits on Dave at 9pm which is when I watch Mock The Week or Qi or something else that's good comedy. But cos thats there instead I cant watch Mock The Week or Qi or something else that's good comedy! I don't like cop dramas! Why did you do it, Dave?

Ranting over.

Oh the Cartoon Cartoons. Didn't mind Chowder though it was incredible annoying. Gumball takes stupidity to the extreme and has no funny jokes. It's like that kid in middle school who always thought he was funny but was really just annoying.  Cartoon Network were probably going to get some redemption with Cartoonstitute, but they were too lazy to produce it. All that came of it was Regular Show, which I kind of like, and Secret Mountain of Fort Awesome which came from Uncle Grandpa. Can't judge that show too much because it's never frieking on. Also, what happened to Toonami. Now, I'll side with 027, I don't like anime at all. Toonami though made anime enjoyable, and I was sort of pissed when they cancelled it.

also yay for people hating anime because it gives me an excuse to lure 027 back on here

I barely watch TV anymore- when I do its in the morning when I have breakfast, and my brother has Garfield, one of the newer scooby doo's and tom and jerry on boomerang.

TV myself? I only ever watch doctor who (which isn't so great anymore tbh) and primeval when they're on. Otherwise I sporadically watch QI, mock the week, the big bang theory, futurama, man vs food and a couple others whenever I get the TV to myself.

Only thing I'm looking forward to TV wise is Red Dwarf series X in september. What a wait that's going to be.

this post lacks grammar

Stereotype. I prefer coffee anyway.
Generally I stick to watching repeats of old Red Dwarf episodes and occasionally QI or Futurama.

Yeah, tell 027 that I downloaded Game Shark 3 from the bot exchange (gosh I love the exchange).

Anyways, I lure away from cartoons for just one moment. MTV has really been a HQ of missing the point. MTV stands for music television not annoying reality television. I mean Fantasy Factory is entertaining, but Jersey Shore is a miserable pile of putrid programming. That show truly is the skid mark on the clean underwear of television. Who wants to whatch jerks act like idiots while drunk. I know I don't. What happened to the days when they would play music. Now, Jimmy the Cab Driver commercial would be completely irrelevant for the channel. What a load of crap.

Yes, but it is an on topic talk about MLP, so really, what wins, no ponies outside of Junkyard, or a post about ponies that is somehow relevant to the topic at hand? Plus, I would think that you would approve of what Natef said. Besides, I thought that really only applied to pony images that were irrelevant to the topic at hand.

All discovery has going for it is Shark Week, Man vs Wild, and Mythbusters. I could also count Punkin Chunkin but Discovery had little confidence in it in the first place so they moved it to Science before it gained much popularity. How its Made is another good one to watch when you are bored. But they keep copying their own shows. Dual Survival, Survivor Man, Man vs Wild, Matter of Seconds (I think that's the one), Survival Couple (or whatever the heck it is called) all share the same damn premise. Then there is Mythbusters which is arguably the most popular and Discovery's producers then created Smash Lab and Prototype This. (Granted Prototype this was actually watchable). Then there was Time Warp... they just had to cancel something good.

Now that we are talking about copied shows, I think TruTV and TLC really could be argued as the most pathetic channels on the freaking tele. A+E is the main victim in this situation. The shows Hoarders, Intervention, and Storage Wars are copied by TLC and Tru TV. Then the History Channel (which refuses to give out accurate information) gets Pawn Stars copied by almost every single network on the planet. I do admit though TruTV's Impractical Jokers is hilarious AND ORIGINAL.

Now that I have mentioned TLC, let's talk about some of their shows. Extreme Couponing, Toddlers and Tiaras, Jon and Kate Plus 8, freaking 18 and counting. NOBODY GIVES A DAMN about these dumb scenarios. I could care less if you are 85 and dying, I will disown you if you think TLC is a good channel. TLC had awesome stuff, Junkyard Wars, Robotica, and that one show with the custom built tanks. Those were awesome. Now TLC had taken 80 billion bottles of estrogen (no offence Jonzu) and ruined it. Plus it is called "The Learning Channel" all I am learning is how to create better quality stuff then the crap they air now.
