hello i am new obviously
my real name is Zack I'm 17 and I'm from Queensland, Australia i have known about robot arena 2 for a while but didn't know about this place and found it recently i am a fan of nerdcubed and had the game refreshed in my memory after watching fauxbot wars and again more recently for whatever reason but only got the game a few days ago anyway I'm here now so I'm gonna look around anyone got any suggestions on where in the forums to head to first?
Hello, and welcome!

First place you will want to go is the Downloads section where you can download Robot Arena 2 working copies with mods pre-installed, such as DSL 2.2 (the main mod used currently), Ironforge (A good mod with excellent balancing but not too many tournaments), and Retooled (A new mod that recently was released in a alpha/beta and used in the Gametechmods Championship Series tournament).

Second place you'll want to go is the showcase section, where you can look at what other peop;e have built to obtain inspiration, and start your own showcase to show off what you have built so that we can give you constructive criticism.

Third place you'll want to go is the Tournament section, where you can see what tournaments are being discussed and planned, which tournaments are in signups, and which ones are currently at the SBV stage and are being run.

Also, have a look through the Tutorial and Tips board which can show you some of the techiques used by GTM builders.

Check this link. It contains rules and other important stuff

If you want, you can make a showcase of your RA2 bots.

Welcom to GTM! RA3 really isn't something we do a lot with here (just because it's so broken), but we'd love to see what you do with it or ra2!

Hello all!

I'm a high school physics teacher and a sponsor for our Robotics Club, where we do real-life robot tournaments.  Over the past year I have been looking to make better simulators for our students to learn to drive, so that they don't have to learn on the day of the competition.  I moonlight as a software developer, have started a few very simple simulator projects, and am now looking for ideas and inspiration for how to make things better.

I stumbled upon gametechmods, and it looks like there is already a thriving community here that does much of the same thing, so I am looking forward to perusing and learning.

-Chris

Great to see you here! If you have any questions related to bot building, making a showcase should be your first move. If you're not interested in making bots in RA2, but rather on driving and battling them, you shoud take a look at the RWRA2 mod, which fills RA2 with a ton of realistic replica bots and arenas, which is what you're looking for I think

Enjoy your stay here :)

Hi Chris, unfortunately we do not have much of a development community here as it's mostly dedicated to the RA2 game, but among robot combat games it has a solid physics engine and could be good to play around in. We do have a few mods such as DSL, Ironforge, Retooled, and RWRA2 built off the source files which may also interest you.

Hey, I have been playing RA2 and its mods for a few years now. I would really like to get into more with the games and learn how to do basic coding, textures and modeling at some point. Here's to having a good time.

Welcome to GTM! Sounds like you'd enjoy learning to AI bots, as that involves some basic Python. Apanx and Mr AS are the most knowledgeable people around here on modding RA2, so go to them if you have any questions :)

However, don't stress over it.
I have several opinions.
