Alesana - The Murderer (Hehe, music unknown to most)
Screamo is the definition of meh.
Try Chimaira so you can escape into the world of mature lyrics.
Chimaira used to be a personal favourite of mine
You most definitely had good taste in music then. Fact is, you may have headed in the wrong direction. Give Gojira a go (*arms for impending attack by ROBOSH4RK*). I can safely say it's the gateway for many genres of death metal.
Indeed, I have strayed a bit towards generic screamo

At least you don't like really terrible stuff like Bring Me The Horizon :P
But try out Gojira, you may like it.

Will do, and it's not so much the music that puts me off but rather the endless fan girls :D

EDIT: Opinions on Lamb Of God?

Isn't bad. It's pretty mainstream but it's most definitely earned it's place.

I quite like Lamb Of God. My friend turned me onto Wrath, as a matter of fact.

Gojira has links to Mastodon, Meshuggah and Morbid Angel, so you can really go anywhere if you like Gojira. All the influences are pretty obvious.

What this has to do with dinosaurs is beyond me but this piece makes me cry when I hear it.

Slayer - Raining Blood

The older music is a pleasant change from bands like Of Mice and Men, We Came As Romans and Abandon All Ships. Their screams aren't too bad but the autotune in the singing seriously puts me off..... Songs with too much emphasis on computer fixing are a natural pet peeve of mine

Why scream when you can death metal growl?
Meshuggah - Autonomy Lost
Hooray for Catch Thirty Three.

Skiitzzox, try Morbid Angel. I am trying to convert people to classic death metal fans so accessibility goes out the window.
