Title: Why hasn't anybody talked about this before?
Post by: System32 on February 18, 2009, 10:01:34 AM
Only recently Have I found this:

https://gametechmods.com/rfshq/pafiledb/index.php?act=view&id=235

What is it? A progam that makes AIing child's play.

I'm already using it!

(Expect a flood of new tournaments and/or AI packs.(Not from me.))

Eh, remembered it existed but couldn't find it.

I like doing it manually anyway.

found it, but I thought it was harder than manually AIing, also I first thought it stood for Robot Arena 1

I don't get the description part, or what you are looking for in the Team Preview.

What about "AI Path" or Browseing in the part that says "Custom"

Also: What is Range

What is the difference between Turn and Turn-Speed.

Also, this could make the AIing for tourneys go alot quicker, because now everyone can do it themselves, and tune it to how THEY want it to work.

I prefer to do it manually because although it works okay for some bots, the AI.py list is very limited and your basically typing in the exact same thing without writing the variable names.

Also: What is Range

I think it is if you have a bot, for example a vertical spinner, at a certain range from the enemy it will start its weapon motor

But most AI bots have range, and they just start.

Also, just looked at the stock Bindings.py, and they look waaaaay different. Little Metal Friend's and EMERGENCY's are even different colors

it was just a guess

and it was correct.

SB- Spinning bots need range to function. Even if they start right away, they need range to start up the spinners. That's why most range is set to 99. The only reason to bring it down is if you dont want it to start right away... like the new alien queen in SCv4.

Good guess Duck.

It's just a mind trick. It doesn't help much, but it gives you a false sense of Confidence that helps a lot!

not excatly a guess, just something I knew very little of, when I actually used to AI, I remember I stopped my tourney half through becuase one person didn't like how his weapon worked, with it's range. (a few others complained, about rammer being pushers ect.)

So I don't really like to AI anymore...

As I remember, it is ok, but not a real comprehensive program for AI-ng,...been a couple years ago.
Another more complete one needs to be written.  I think that this could be done in Python.  But I'll bet Serge could do it quicker in C++.

Good for beginners. I tried it in the past but found it way too primitive for my taste. I like doing my AI from scratch as well.
