thats form scratch?!? what kind of photoshop brushes are you using? and those textures...! and the edges?

i need to know this pleaseee its the the only thing i want to do is skin like this. the fact that i cant leaves me slacking

Avalanche, Jarvis is part of the mod team so he knows what he's talking about, don't start flaming.

High-res photos weren't directly lifted to make the bots skin as on most replicas here, but the skin was made from scratch USING real photos of the bot as a reference, as far as I am aware.

The top panel was taken from a snippet of the TR2 texture, the scratches I photoshopped and reused from Meggamouse, the wedge texture is taken from TR2's flipper and the weld lines are taken from Ripper's flipper before it was painted, the name on the top is textured font plonked in and the number 9 was drawn up on Inkscape which is the program I normally use to make brass etch artwork.

The program I've used is Paintshop Pro 8. At the end of the day, to make a good texture, you have to build yourself a good database of photographs to steal segments from.

could you throw together a zip of some good hi-res pictures of some not-too-distinctive to be recognizeable after a good chopping 'bots? i have photoshop 8 n my mac along with cs2 or 3 but i hate transferring files back and forth so i got paint.net on here and im learning to use it pretty quickly. not happy with anything i've done yet though...

also, what res are you blowing the skins up to before you mess around?

i eventually want to make a decent irl-based ai for dsl3 but until i can make a skin that im happy with i just cant push myself to really build like i want to

Sorry I've had a mate over for the past week and it was my birthday on Sunday so I've been a bit busy. Toast, I'll be including pretty much everything people will need to work from in the Mod download so people can create their own realistic textures. :)

Right, thanks to the team for taking the texture photographs and to DS7 for tracking them down on Facebook and messaging them.

King B was quite hard to do actually, it took me all evening... And people say it's just a box on wheels... Hah.

It's a box with wheels that looks awesome, so all the work was worth it if I do say so myself. No name on the top though? I thought King B Powerworks always had that.
