So, recently, I just got (physical copy) RA2 for my new PC because I love this game so much. And I wanted to get into modding, but mostly adding bots and components. I was able to add things when I downloaded the stock version from this website, but kept crashing so that's why I decided to get it on disc. Anyways, when trying to add bots to this, I get an error trying to extract the BOT file (using winrar.) saying "Please change the archive name. D:/ is read only." and I've tried to my knowledge ways to fix it but nothing. Is there anyone who is willing to help or link me to the place to get help? I'll appreciate it a lot.

Where are you extracting the bot file to?
-
To the robot design folder.
-
install the no cd patch and move your ra2 file onto the desktop
-
Can you explain in more detail? I have it on disc.
-
honestly to make things easier for yourself just download the ready-to-go version 1.4 from our downloads section. https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;cat=19
Then you never have to use the CD again. We can help you copy over your robots and stuff from your old copy to this one if you can't figure out how.
-
Well, the reason I got the disc version is because this one I download from here keeps crashing.
-
that isnt an issue with the download copy that's just an issue with how the game runs on newer OS
-
when you say 'keeps crashing' do you just mean it's unstable and CTDs a lot or do you mean it never starts because of an error? Try changing the compatibility mode to XP or 2000 and switch the mode to either windowed or fullscreen, whichever one it currently isn't.
I can't think of any reason why the CD version would be more stable than the DL one.
You mentioned using your D: drive. Is this your primary Hard drive or are you trying to place the files onto the CD or something?
-
Chnge the BitsPerPixel.. to 64.. it may work
-
It says Robot Arena has stopped working.
I did both. Using winrar and from the files from the actual computer.
Lol I'll be honest, I don't know what I'm doing, but it's pretty simple moving BOT files
-
What if you used a virtual machine on Windows 200 or Me or XP or server 2003?
Don't know well it would work though.
-
instead of going to all that effort you can right click the exe and select "troubleshoot compatability" and it should fix the random crashes
-
You are all speaking about the program... Maybe its the bot file
