Title: DSL Loses one of their Main members.
Post by: DarkRat on December 09, 2004, 11:07:29 PM
Lucy Foster (Lu-Tze) passed away Oct 3rd.
We will be making a little memorial for her here at DSL which should be up soon.
We found out Lucy was very sick nearing the end of DSL Beta 2 but she wanted it kept a secret and did not want us to fuss about it.
This was the main reason I hurried DSL out the door at the end. she only had weeks left and I wanted to make sure she got to see her work.. which she did .
She had a brain tumor which took her life before she got to get married.
The DSL team will miss her soo much..

:( It's a big shock to read this, I just thought she had disappeared like she's done off and on every and and then. I'm glad she got to see her work though.

Lu-Tze wasn't someone I talked to on a regular basis or anything, but she was one of the few people I've known on message boards that actually spoke to and helped out the other members, something not a whole lot of modders do.

RIP Lu-Tze, you will be missed. :(

i would not have know nearly as much about ra2 and 3dstudio max if it wasent for lucy. She is actually the one who got me out of my shell and gave me the confidence to release my first components. i will miss her chats when i was bored late at night. She had a great sense of humor, and knew how to pull me up when i was down.

the only regret i have is not finishing my fight to the finish arena. she spent countless hours trying to help me get it it to look and work right.

thank you for all of your help and support. You were my first robot arena 2 friend. i will miss you so very much. and i hope to see you again someday

Wow, that wasn't news I was expecting. Although I rarely spoke to Lucy, she was helpful and had a great sense of humor.

Title: Lucy...
Post by: Pete_Lefeu on December 11, 2004, 10:18:15 AM
omg I never tough that Lucy was sick... RA2 community have a big hole now... She will miss to everyone.

She was also the one who tried to help me for my first own personnal components ...

Just a suggestion for the memorial

Make a compilation of her single part of RA2 (before DSL)... it should bring memory to most of people of what she did and to not forget her...

Lucy came in RA2 suddenly with great part ans she quit suddenly with some secret that we'll never know.

Sympathy to her family and to everybody...  :?

That was the last thing I was expecting upon reading this thread, I thaught someone was just leaving the forums.

Lu-tze as one of the coolest modders for RA2 ever, she made some great arenas and really fun to use parts. She made components that noone else conceived as possible at the time.

RIP, Lucy.

Oh my god.  One of the members I respected most, is gone, gone forever.  If I hadn't have come to these forums I would have never known.  I expected this to be a "somebody left RA2" topic.  Man, I'm in shock.

This reminds me of a song, Only The Good Die Young by Billy Joel.  She was simply amazing.  I had a great amount of respect for her.  Not only here being one of the only female members in the forums, but also one of the best moders.

It is sad to hear that she is gone.  Wow, I wasn't expecting anything like this.  I don't know what to say, i'm speechless.  I regret not making a tribute to Lu-tze right before DSL came out.  I would have but only like3 people answered my PM and one of them said "what is this all about".

Well I can't really say much more.  So sad.

R.I.P. Lucy Foster.

sorry for the bump, but I just read this and I was shocked.

I would have never guessed she was ever sick, I will miss her very much

and all of you who didn't talk to her online very much, I did...this was a total shock

you will be missed by everyone (including me)

 :smt089

I know this doesn't look very draumatic, but it's the best I can do...

RIP Lucy foster *sniff*

I am suprized there are not 75 posts in this thread already...I was expecting more of a reaction, why don't any other forums know about this??

She really didn't want us to fuss about her, asked that we not tell any one and requested that we not dedicate the DSL project to her.

Lucy, Merry Christmas! Go with God...

I see. Well I would just like to thank her for all the time and effort she put into this community. She was one of the more active members on RAR as well. I guess this just goes to show that most of us don't fully appreciate a good thing until it's too late. She and her work will not be forgotten.

peace Lu-Tze, I'm sure you are living better than ever before.

I know I am really late with this, but I remember around the time DSL first came out, which was around the time when I was really getting into RA2 and downloading Components and Arenas [on a PC with Dial Up], and I always thought that she made some of the best mods for the game, and I had everything she made in my copy of the game. I also remember seeing her in the Forums and she seemed like a great person and it is a shame she died.

Well its like Lewis Black said: "The good die young... ****** live forever!"]

I just had an idea about this. Maybe we could do a Moment of Silence for her on October 3rd. For maybe like 10 minutes or so, have GTM shut down and have a little box up that says that "a moment of silence is in process to honor Lu-Tze..."? Anybody think its a good idea?

This is something that never gets old. She was one of the main innovators of early RA2. If it wasn't for Lu-Tze, we wouldn't have half the custom components we do now, we wouldn't have the BattleBox or RW Arena, and we might not even have DSL.

When a thread is not only pinned, but also very relevnent and serious, there is absolutely no reason why you shoudn't post.

She basically changed Robot Arena 2 completely.

Bloody 'ell. Who would've thought.

In all seriousness, I am a fairly new member and I haven't been here whilst she was working but I do appreciate everything that she has done for the RA2 community!

Way back then, I loved her work she has put in to her components, the earliest Robot Wars Arena, and helping out with DSL in general. She was a great person to help out and I appreciate all that she has done.

R.I.P Lu-tze. You will definitely be missed in the community.
