Heard this was the flavor of the month for bot building, so built some robots.
LW, copied someone's blade wedges to see how it'd work (forgot who it was though)
I believe this is a SHW. Not much in the way of combat ability but eh, I like it.
-
I like the second bot a lot. Can I see another angle?
Also, I believe it was MassimoV who used blade wedges like that.
-
Like the second one, is the top the turret?
-
Yeah, top part's a turret on the second bot.
Have another angle on it, as well as a crappy LW tank.

This one was about a 5 minute build, so yeah.
EDIT: Oh yeah, have a work in progress tank too.
Six turrets is uncontrollable like woah, but it's still awesome anyway. Trying to think of ideas for what to fill the giant gap in the back with (the tank's facing away from the camera)
also note: this thing weighs 739kg atm, probably gonna have to grab an antiballast for further work on it.

baneblade
-
Here, have another tank. This one's a MW.
It also has FISTING POWER.
-
I love these, we obviously need a tank tourney now.
-
I probably should have named this thread "TBD's Tank Factory" or something.
This one's a HW, don't really like how it turned out but eh. Meant to be more of a regular bot than the cheatbot guntanks.
oh god oh god what the hell is this get it awaaaay
But anyway, this one was an experiment to see if a) a halftrack design could work and b) if ditching the tank turret for more weaponry and a srimech was a good idea.
-
Another day, another tank.
Cruiserweight, I personally like how the turret turned out (it can aim up and down now!) but the rest is pretty eh.
-
I like it a lot. You're really good at building these tanks.
-
Probably Robocraft influences, hehe. I like the quad tracked tanks the most. They have an interesting sci-fi look
-
I love these tanks
-
^ Me too
-
Probably Robocraft influences, hehe.
Robocraft influences, you say?
how many turrets can TBD squeeze on one vehicle? more at 11
I can't possibly see where you're getting that from.
-
Antweight tank go!
This one isn't that effective because well, trying to cram a tank into the antweight class. So yeah.
Have a turreted flipper tank with a crappy chassis design too.
(it's hw btw)
-
Probably Robocraft influences, hehe.

That's totally not Robocraft looking at all, lol
I like the turreted flipper concept. Is it effective? It looks tricky to control.
-
Yeah, the turreted flipper is actually quite effective, if a little unstable. Not the greatest wedges, although with the turret it can kinda-sorta maneuver its wedge around the other guy's wedge.
Also, here's the reason I make exclusively tanks.
To say it works poorly would be an understatement.
-
Does this mean the IRL AIs are actually beating standard bots?
I guess I got the balance right then.
-
New robot.
It is not in any way combat effective and it's a complete mess, but it has treads, so it has that going for it, which is nice.
-
That looks pretty sweet.
-
These tanks look great, man, the robocraft bot too. Nice work.
-
So I tried to make a bot that would rapidly circle around other bots, pounding away with hammer turrets.
Key word - tried.
(cruiserweight - 297kg)
The turrets are way too small, so instead of smashing down, the hammers attack via havok explosions. It could probably do better with just one bigger turret, but I wanted multi-target capability.
On another note, here was my first concept for last month's BoTM, called "Communist Manifesto". I think you guys can probably see why I went with Hammerfury instead.
-
First one looks really cool, regardless of whether it actually works or not.
Communist Manifesto isn't that bad, but I agree Hammerfury is so much cooler.
-
About that super-fast flanking hammer... It could be done, I believe but would be difficult both to build and especially AI
I think you would need only one strong hammer, 4WD and decent armor. AI will be a bitch, however.
Multiple turrets I think it would be pointless. Because you need something small, armored, and fast to flank well...
-
need longer guns plox

Oh yeah, it also has a little flappy flag thing at the back.
-
New robot. It's been a long time, hasn't it?

-
Looks pretty impressive.
-
i don't care that it is a bit messy it looks badass
-
Pot Luck 2 has been showing me that I'm no good with shell spinners.
Here's the first attempt. It gets smashed by pretty much everything of its weight class in the default AI packs, so it probably won't be entered in this state.
I've also found it's really difficult to use tracks on a shell spinner without putting in a lot of unnecessary space, which makes me meh.
-
I will say that this tournament isn't IRL. So if those extenders are just for show then it's a bit wasted.
-
"it's been over four years since a post has been made in this, are you sure you want to reply to this" buzz off I do whatever I please.
As you can guess, things are looking pretty rusty. But it's got a skin that isn't just made in the game, so it's got that going for it, which is nice.
As it only has one motor for its flipper it's not so much a flipper as it is a lifter and it's not particularly wedgy, but the armour plates make it reasonably durable. The wheely-bar on the back has some spikes so it can get some damage in on a missed charge.
It's got treads too. Neat.
