Red's Robotic Hall of Lame: Ironforge Edition
« on: January 11, 2015, 05:34:45 PM »
Blimey, I made my last bot specific showcases in 2009. I feel old.

Anyway. Ironforge. I don't have anything new to show at the moment, but I might as well make it. That, and I have to make good on my promise to release Little Toy Car to everyone, huh?

My November 2014 BOTM entry. More showy then killy, I remember not having a good time fighting other robots in its weight class. Wins were possible, just hard to come by.

And here's the December 2014 BOTM winner, Little Toy Car. Pretty fun to drive. Using the boost button (i.e a button that sets the steering unit to drive forward) makes it very fast and able to turn on a dime. Here's a link to download it, included is the bot and the Photoshop PSD of the skin I made for it. Enjoy.

Thanks for uploading the toy car!
They're both great!

No problem mate, and thanks.

Now for something new.

This probably isn't legal. Then again, no clipping. At all.
I want to get a looping gif of it spinning. The way it changes colours looks so cool.

Looks very good. If you can find a way of getting a gif then I'm sure it would be awesome.

How does it work? The SixBird wouldn't really contribute, or am I being stupid?

I love it, but I also fear it because I imagine it hits really hard.

A gif of it spinning would be very nice.

My guess is that the wheels are at a height where their grip meshes are making contact with the ground but their physical meshes are not, because if they did I imagine they would lift the chassis off the ground, causing the chassis to spin on itself and rendering the SixBird useless.  I could be wrong about this though.

That didn't take long at all. Huh. Had to take it through a free M4V editor/exporter though so I lost the source quality. And then I dropped the GIF into Imageready which dropped the colours to 256. Ah well.

The wheels certainly make contact with the floor - you can see them bend. No, the physics for it are just completely wonky (or RA2 is ahead of it's time with Omniwheels). When the wheel motors aren't being used for spinning, the robot can turn and drive (the purple/red edge is forward orientation) perfectly. Except when the robot turns, only the chassis actually turns on it's axle, and the rest of the bot just stays as it is (Yes, it can be still)

I've seen hits for 4000, the real damage is how it just blows things away. I've also got a full 800kg version with 8 hammers on each point that I could enter into 090901's tourney. That's a bit overkill.

UPDATE: Hit 6700 on Siege Engine. Is there even a SHW in base Ironforge? I can't tell.

Even if the motor in the chassis doesn't help, it still looks awesome

Nope. I was considering sending one to 123 but I thought at least one other person would have made one. They didn't.

Fact: the only BWs in Ironforge are the two on my teams.
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

The motor in the chassis actually does like.. 90% of the work. Wonky physics. Think of a HS (possibly even a shell spinner to reflect how the tribar doesn't turn when the chassis does) turning on the spot and you've got how it controls and works.

No SHWs? Damn. Means I can't get an accurate reading for power. A few 600kgers but no 800kg bots.

The six bird does not contribute, no, it's just for the spinning chassis.

Still looks neat.
